So, Sophie Giroux returned pretending to be Alice Webster. DNA results on the body in the shed confirm she is related to Sam.

Baptiste has found out about Henry Reed and the Brigadier being involved with a 9 year old girl in Iraq in 1991. Henry Reed was paying this girls brother.

There are 3 girls in the rollercoaster photo, Sophie, Alice and possibly the girl from Iraq? She has that colouring.

Henry Reed apparently committed suicide although Julien told Daniel he didn't. Whatever Daniel found out about him made him sick.

Nadia has been badly beaten and her husband is still in prison after being identified by Sophie/Alice. Matthew was made to promise to say sorry to the butcher.

Sophie is now in Switzerland. As is the newly spray painted yellow campervan that abducted Alice. Gemma and Baptiste doubt the DNA results as they are still looking for answers 2 years after she returned.

Birds keep being mentioned. Sophie and Alice both had the Web tattoo on their wrists.

Blondes my surprise about the grave was that the headstone was already placed so soon. Henry had died on 14 December and when Alice visited on 22 December he already had a headstone. I thought graves had to settle for weeks (months?) before a headstone could be placed. But this is TV, and they needed the viewer to know whose grave it was, I suppose

Alice didn't know where the graveyard was - the florist was clear that she had asked for directions to it.

I still think Henry Reed was paying as he felt bad for what others did in Iraq. I don't think he was involved at all.

I'm still torn over whether the brig is faking or not, I wish they had just let him spill a drink or something to get Sam to go into the drawers.

Why would eve have put the scans in with her dad's clothes?

I don't think it looked like a headstone on the grave more like a simple wooden cross with a plaque which would be normal to put on a grave before the headstone is erected a few months later.

HarryP per your theory about closure to the Websters, FakeAlice did say something along the lines of 'I wanted you to know what we were happy sometimes'. That was last episode, at the kitchen table with all the Ikea bits, where she told about the baby and the roller coaster. And called 'her mum' Gemma.

So she felt more warm towards the brother and father, who thought they recognised her, but specifically said to Gemma that she wanted her to know it wasn't all bad.

The DNA thing, aren't there 2 common tests, mitochondrial which tests maternal dna, and another one, which tests the paternal. I think. Clearly I am not a scientist.

The exchange between Sam and Brig was strange. As someone else said upthread he was talking about her liking spiders and being alternative. Like he knew her before she was abducted. Then he started to say "she was called....she was" but Sam finished his sentence by saying Alice. But I wondered if he meant to say something else instead.

I was thinking could the DNA results have been faked? Did they actually do it?

They said they did it against dad but how - same blood group or proper DNA test and why not both parents? Could it have been reported that the DNA was correct as Dad wouldnt remember having the test [in hospital] as a way of covering up the polices failure to deal with the reappearance of alice. It wouldn't look good to the papers if "missing girl returns and dies then we realise she's not the right girl and we still have a missing girl somewhere"

I agree with Dulra- it wasn't a proper headstone. A simple, name/dated
Wooden cross is what goes on pretty much straight after burial

agree headstone was a wooden engraved one, so prop not the real one but if suicide (and sadly the way dh went) there would be an autopsy first, plus inquest

yes you can have a funeral before inquest but timewise it was 8days? from his death to shed girl as tbh havnt a clue what to call her and seems very quick to have autopsy& funeral

KH is really brilliant in it. Wasn't sure about the whole asking Eve about the family business but thought it was her just getting some revenge.

So is it possible that Sam fathered girl three in Iraq around 1991? Then when she was 9 Sam brought her to Germany and got his friend Henry Reed to make payments to the family in return for them keeping quiet about her? So she's brought up in Germany with another family but then abducted?

Definitely agree there was a body swap in the shed. Matthew locks Sophie in the shed. Someone comes and lets her out bringing the body of actual Alice or girl 3 with them, they put it in shed, set fire to shed and do a runner.

Still don't understand how Sophie would know Henry Reed was dead in such a short timescale. Unless she killed him or he was collateral damage and she was there when he died. He died 14 December, she returned 18 Dec and "died" 22 Dec after visiting his grave. Maybe he's the father of girl three?

Not that it matters (probably??), but I think Alice returned on the 19th rather than the 18th.

The CCTV of the florist trip that Alice visited there on the 22nd and we know that her gravestone records that she also died on the 22nd (i.e. that night).

Next day (so the 23rd) Gemma made a press statement outside the hospital, saying that Alice returned "4 days ago". Hence the 19th.

Ah lark I was counting 4 days back from 22nd but yes of course the hospital bits were the following day as the fire was at night. So yes she came back on 19th!
