The Missing is back next week PART 2!

Thread one here

So, Sophie Giroux returned pretending to be Alice Webster. DNA results on the body in the shed confirm she is related to Sam.

Baptiste has found out about Henry Reed and the Brigadier being involved with a 9 year old girl in Iraq in 1991. Henry Reed was paying this girls brother.

There are 3 girls in the rollercoaster photo, Sophie, Alice and possibly the girl from Iraq? She has that colouring.

Henry Reed apparently committed suicide although Julien told Daniel he didn't. Whatever Daniel found out about him made him sick.

Nadia has been badly beaten and her husband is still in prison after being identified by Sophie/Alice. Matthew was made to promise to say sorry to the butcher.

Sophie is now in Switzerland. As is the newly spray painted yellow campervan that abducted Alice. Gemma and Baptiste doubt the DNA results as they are still looking for answers 2 years after she returned.

Birds keep being mentioned. Sophie and Alice both had the Web tattoo on their wrists.

In case it becomes relevant (!) the time and date stamp on the CCTV of the florist visit was 22.12.14 15:53.

I don't think there is a massive conspiracy re the body in the shed. There's been far too much attention to who returned and who died - and in series 1 those were the red herrings.

Interesting explanation of the next episodes title. It hints that some of the things people are remembering are untrue and they have to accept new information.

Butcher shop boy and third girl have the same glasses Wink

Agree with all but Aldi woman, think she's just caught in the middle. Got a feeling she's got a bad rep because she stood up against something the baddies where doing.

Well I haven't got a frigging clue but I am hooked to the point of obsession! Think it's the best drama on telly I've ever seen (apart from Grange Hill, of course).

Yes hesterton agree with all your goodies/baddies, although not sure about Aldi. Think she might be caught in the middle maybe? Although there's something I don't like about her character.

Not sure about Eve either. I think she knows more about her dad's past which will become relevant later on maybe.

How do we know that the Swiss scene with Sophie/Alice was in the present day? It could have been in 2010. It could have been pre 2014.

So many possibilities, I'm going to wait until next week to speculate.

Marking. Need to rewatch last nights as DS2 was acting the maggot during it so missed bits.

I came on to mention the Scottish army bloke, but I see someone already did. No thoughts yet on how he's involved, simply suspicious of him as he's on the perifery and it's not going to be someone who is obviously being implicated already.

Does anyone else think the scripts this series are inferior to series 1?

It's really starting to bug me. I've just rewatched last night's episode as DD was catching up with it and second time around it was worse.

I know several people have already highlighted the "did you never want children?" clanger.

Things like that and smaller niggles too.

Some things are just silly.

The insistence that they didn't need a DNA test, then again, there wouldn't be a series if there did one. The funeral of Henry Reed almost immediately after his suicide, that's not going to happen.

Other than that, no, I think the script's good. Lots of leads, little and big hints, the occasional red herring, the new revelations at the end of each episode.

Yes, the narrative-driving stuff is better than the incidentals, you're right about that Chardonnay.

There was a scene last night when Gemma and Eve we re sitting at Eve's dining table and Gemma was trying to persuade her that the second girl in the photo was the real Alice.

Eve said something like "What difference does it make if it is the case".

And Gemma replied "It might mean something."

Not crucial to the plotting but psychologically it's guff. A mother in that situation would say "The difference is it means that my DD is still out there somewhere!"

True, now you mention it, it didn't ring true when they said it.

There have been some other things like that, but I can't really recall then now, when you do go Hmm, but on the whole it's gripping, I do want to know what's happened to Alice.

The waiter in Switzerland spoke French didn't he? The girl understood so links it to Sophie ?

Yes, I must admit I'm still gripped by the main mystery.

It's just that I'm being distracted by the terrible writing decisions in between. Which I resent.

He spoke French, but it was very easy to understand.

What language did she answer in? She said "I'm taken" but was it in English or French?

She answered in English.
