Thread one here

So, Sophie Giroux returned pretending to be Alice Webster. DNA results on the body in the shed confirm she is related to Sam.

Baptiste has found out about Henry Reed and the Brigadier being involved with a 9 year old girl in Iraq in 1991. Henry Reed was paying this girls brother.

There are 3 girls in the rollercoaster photo, Sophie, Alice and possibly the girl from Iraq? She has that colouring.

Henry Reed apparently committed suicide although Julien told Daniel he didn't. Whatever Daniel found out about him made him sick.

Nadia has been badly beaten and her husband is still in prison after being identified by Sophie/Alice. Matthew was made to promise to say sorry to the butcher.

Sophie is now in Switzerland. As is the newly spray painted yellow campervan that abducted Alice. Gemma and Baptiste doubt the DNA results as they are still looking for answers 2 years after she returned.

Birds keep being mentioned. Sophie and Alice both had the Web tattoo on their wrists.

I agree re no escape. Gemma started the series off with her Goethe quote about those who feel free being the most enslaved. It all points to a false freedom.

Is FakeAlice a "caged bird" - allowed to spread her wings briefly but at her master's bidding? Is her master still in the campervan in 2016 Switzerland?

"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free".

TheSpottedZebra · 03/11/2016 00:10

So she was let out a bit for her appendix op, but on the condition she'd frame the butcher, and burn (the already dead body of?) another girl? With Brig to keep an eye on her and threaten her with turtle stories?

LarkDescending · 03/11/2016 00:12

Yes.

Should we read anything into Hilde the parrot - another caged bird who didn't talk?

321zerobaby · 03/11/2016 00:12

I'm a bit lost, not having watched it from the start, but hooked never the less.

Can you tell me, was it definitely their daughter Alice in the shed. Sorry I'm confused!

Bolognaise · 03/11/2016 00:15

We don't know if it was Alice in the shed. The DNA said it was a match to Sam but it could have been that he fathered one of the other girls or someone faked the results

LarkDescending · 03/11/2016 00:17

Not just burn the body of another girl, but impersonate that girl and lay a trail to lead to a conclusion that Alice Webster was dead by suicide.

321 the deceased has been identified as Alice on the basis of a DNA match with Sam Webster. Which is not the same as saying she was Alice.

321zerobaby · 03/11/2016 00:37

That's what I thought, or rather what I was hoping, thanks for clarifying. I must try to watch the first 2!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 03/11/2016 01:10

Would they not always use a mother's DNA when available if trying to establish parentage on the basis that a mother and her biological child must match but a father might not actually be the biological father?

ArmySal · 03/11/2016 01:34

I thought that too, Lass.

FoxesOnSocks · 03/11/2016 05:19

That video on Twitter, who's the smiling girl with an army mans arm on her shoulder shown in it? Someone wrote in the comment 'are we suppose to think third girl is Daniels sister?' (I've paraphrased). I think that's a bit off the wall but she might be the 9 year old from Iraq. Possibly.

FoxesOnSocks · 03/11/2016 05:34

Or how about Sam being the Brigs son and that SophieAlice is also the Brigs daughter (somehow) which would account for the DNA match.

Not that I'm grasping at straws.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2016 06:38

Omg. There's a new thread. How much did you lot woffle and speculate on last nights episode

Will watch today and then read and comment

Place marking with www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-11-02/the-missing-series-2-episode-4-recap-is-there-a-third-missing-girl

rumbelina · 03/11/2016 06:40

I think it's significant that the DNA was matched to the father. Maybe....

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2016 06:41

Fuck it. I can do links 😳😳😳😳

Been on mn 10yrs + and done enough of them

episode 4 recap

youarenotkiddingme · 03/11/2016 06:46

I reackon 99% of what we've seen so far will be irrelevant!

I remember the first series by now we believed a massive plot, kidnapping, organised crime, and had only just seen the writing/drawing on the wall of the garage.

And it turned out that none of it was relevant other than the writing proved Ollie was in the garage - and then we had 3 episodes seeking why he was there including a trip to Russia - but it was very simple!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 03/11/2016 07:10

Right, the girls are taken, but something happens to the abductor/taker.
They stay together, something like Stockholm syndrome, then Alice dies, and Sophie is a loose and decides to come back, but doesn't want to go back to her father, so goes to Alice's family.
And then...

Elendon · 03/11/2016 07:14

Why would Gemma say to Eve that she wouldn't know what having a family was like, what an incredibly vicious remark to make?

And how did Sophie/Aliceget Passport and ID papers to get to Switzerland?

All very puzzling.

AuntieStella · 03/11/2016 07:15
Confused

I just posted on

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/2760070-BBC1-WEDNESDAY-9pm-THE-MISSING-series-2-NEW-THREAD-joined-together?msgid=64648618#64648618

Which is the THIRD Missing thread.

Is there a new thread per episode? Because if so, could there at least be a unified numbering system. This is the fourth thread (and is about the fourth episode)

FoxesOnSocks · 03/11/2016 07:21

Think this 'Missing is back' thread (well this thread part 2) is the more posted on; was the 'original' so to speak so not sure why some created other threads and persisted on posting on them!!

Move over to this one? If all do so the other ones will disappear down onto page 2 and there'll be no issue.

colliegirl · 03/11/2016 07:23

Ok...this mornings musings do far...

Could Sam be adopted? And his (don't know if he knows) Dad is the brig making army lady his sister? This may give them some sort of attraction to each other hence the type of relationship they have. The brig could then be SophieAlice dad but dna led them to believe it was Sam?

Armylady I think is surrogate maybe for her sister who we've not seen. She doesn't seem to have any connection with bump, ie, hand on belly type thing.

Brig, having lost one child through adoption (Sam, or maybe didn't want him as a boy?) is "collecting" his other children he lost, ie, Sophie, Alice....where's his wife? Do we know what happened to her?

But think 3rd girl is the girls from warplace and can come up with no logical explanation rather than paedo ring, which seems to obvious.

And agree body swap theory on condition of release to get better, and also the little bits of freedom allowed (caged burd).

colliegirl · 03/11/2016 07:23

Oops burd should be bird Blush

AuntieStella · 03/11/2016 07:25

The thread I linked is the longer one, that was running before this one started.

OK, some threads get overtaken, but what I don't get is why a new thread, with a misleading title when there is an active one already.

Is there a row going on?

TobleroneBoo · 03/11/2016 07:25

Someone suggested previously that Eve was a surrogate, that could possibly be true? Although it looked bad she may not have lost that baby, and Gemma asking" don't you want a family of your own?" Could be extended to mean " as you have already been through pregnancy etc for someone else"

So in my head, Sophie returned, Gemma twigged it wasn't her, Alice's body was placed in the shed and burnt, and Sophie fucked off to Switzerland?

Would it have continued if Gemma hadn't suspected out loud that it wasn't Alice?
