We stumbled across series one, really enjoyed it, new series coming soon... don't know the date yet??

OP posts:
TheNorthRemembers · 01/12/2016 21:48

I thought Mia hid her conscious self like in the previous series.

There is a lot of emphasis on dead children: Leo, Athena, the Qualia guy's adoptive parents. People would pay any money to have one.

TheNorthRemembers · 01/12/2016 21:48

I mean to have a seraph.

DabbyR · 02/12/2016 09:08

awesome story , i love it

CurbsideProphet · 02/12/2016 09:23

TheNorth The synth collectors had a gizmo that can detect whether a synth is normal/abnormal, so I don't think that Mia would be able to just pretend to be a non concious synth.

I wonder if people adopted the child synths and as the "parents" grew older they needed to trade up for an older synth and the system was criticised...

Italiangreyhound · 02/12/2016 18:25

What's the Qualia guys's adoptive parents mean -TheNorth*.

If it is about grieving parents it is very like AI the Steven Spielberg film (which I hated!).

NoahVale · 04/12/2016 07:35

at last able to join this thread, as i have caught up.
agree, can't understand Why synth children, like the school girl and now the ones in the silo, are they redundant? used and traded in, or never even used, suspect the latter.
the woman that went to the american scientist, can't understand, was she talking about Mia?

Italiangreyhound · 04/12/2016 10:01

By the school girl do you mean Toby's friend Rennie or whatever, the black girl? She is human pretending to be a synth.

Which woman that we t to the American scientist? Do you mean Athena? She is looking for all Elder's synths, but I don't know if she would know about the all. There was Max, Neska, Mia a campfire man who died but I got the feeling Kay/Beatrice? Who has ended up being a police woman might have been more of a secret, because unlike looking like some unknown at synth she looked like his wife.

Italiangreyhound · 04/12/2016 10:02

Campfire man!!!! Other man!

NoahVale · 04/12/2016 11:42

she is pretending? Shock how bizarre
i thought she was a conscious synth?

HeyRoly · 04/12/2016 12:51

She's a conscious synth pretending not to be conscious, so the synth snatchers (the ones collecting up conscious synths for Qualia) wouldn't take her away to be experimented on.

Italiangreyhound · 04/12/2016 14:17

How could she fool the machine? I think she 're-set herself somehow.

TheNorthRemembers · 04/12/2016 18:35

Italian The Qualia guy said he was brought up in foster homes up until he was adopted. Did he really say he was 17 when adopted or did I mishear it? His adoptive parents's son had MS (?) and basically wasted away. He was talking about slow, painful deaths.

CurbsideProphet · 04/12/2016 18:43

Italian I think she did too, as she plugged herself into a phone and typed in a long code.

HeyRoly · 04/12/2016 18:50

I think it's more likely that Mia reset herself. But equally, she lost her memory once, so it seems a bit lame, narrative-wise, for it to happen again.

Italiangreyhound · 04/12/2016 20:31

HeyRoly maybe lame but also great literature has those themes that comes back again and again!

North re "The Qualia guy said he was brought up in foster homes up until he was adopted. Did he really say he was 17." YES, I remember now. So he is maybe re marking a happy child hood!

HeyRoly · 04/12/2016 21:52

Ah well, Mia didn't stay as Anita for long this time, did she?

Italiangreyhound · 04/12/2016 22:03

Phew, nice things for the kids!

Italiangreyhound · 04/12/2016 23:01

This is not going to go well!!!

TreehouseTales · 04/12/2016 23:17

So many storylines? How many episodes are left to wrap it up in...?

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/12/2016 14:53

So - the plan is to get the minds of terminally ill children transferred into seraphs, which will then 'grow up' by having their bodies upgraded every year.

Science-woman has stored the mind of her dead child, V, and that is how Qualia guy is blackmailing her. V is stored on his servers and if Science-woman doesn't help, she will never get her daughter back.

I think Qualia guy also has terminal illness and his ultimate plan is to get his mind transferred into a synth once the technique is perfected. He will be immortal.

Italiangreyhound · 05/12/2016 16:10

What is up with Mattie, has she not worked out where her upgraded formula is going to lead???

NoahVale · 06/12/2016 07:05

I think she has realised now

Fiderer · 06/12/2016 08:10

Not sure if she has tbh. She's seen the personal effect, Mia/Anita, Odi, Niska.

But I think she has v little idea what would happen if all Synths gain consciousness at the same time. Given the public attitude to them we've seen, it'd be carnage.

EternityNow · 06/12/2016 09:55

I am fond of this tv show

HeyRoly · 06/12/2016 12:46

That letter Odi wrote to Mattie, was it a "suicide" note? He seemed to realise that he wasn't cut out for life as a conscious synth and was either going to reset himself back to a service synth, or leave and chuck himself in a river or something.

When he was sweeping up at the end of the episode, I couldn't decide whether he was cleaning because he was back in "service" mode, or whether he'd come across the mess and just decided to clean it up because he only knows how to help people.

I enjoyed his story arc this episode. The scene with the priest was great.
