Sinister episode tonight!

TreehouseTales · 06/11/2016 23:24

Scary synth!

Ulysses · 07/11/2016 14:02

Hester's an interesting prospect and is raising really points about the premise of giving a machine consciousness without the build up of experiences that makes a person who they are.

I liked what Mia had to say about the Synths being like children. Re: the previous point about Niska being abused as a child, she was a 9 year old synth but had been created as an adult, so it couldn't be classed as child abuse. It reinforces the points that an adult isn't just about being physically mature and gaining knowledge but is also built on layers of experiences and emotions. I'm not explaining myself too succinctly but that's what I took from it!

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 07/11/2016 15:10

The rest of my family wanted to watch Poldark..

That's it really, a very thought provoking drama about how people react to difference, what it means to have feelings, what rights someone can have.. or a good looking hunk taking his shirt off (apparently as I have never watched Poldark).

Perhaps there are two sorts of people; those that think and those that simply look?

Now we have what appears to be a psychotic Hesta. She is unlikely to volunteer for a trial. As a representative of the synth species she condemns all of them. Wherefore then human behaviour when people like Shipman and Sutcliffe are part of the human race?

Ulysses · 07/11/2016 18:02

Does you mean Niska it's not easy? I'm assuming you are and it's a good point that the first Synth comes across as a loose cannon but then so are some of our own species...

Dozer · 07/11/2016 19:27

Is the actor playing the man in the cafe with Mia the same one who plays Gunnar in Nashville?

If not he's a clone!

What's the Matrix scientist woman's plan?

Trills · 07/11/2016 20:36

Yep. He's British.

Trills · 07/11/2016 20:37

Matrix scientist woman has already independently created a sentient computer program and she wants to put it in a body.

iklboo · 07/11/2016 22:27

I really like Humans. This series has a good concept.

Dozer · 07/11/2016 23:27

Thanks Trills.

I like Nashville and the romances. Romances all seem doomed in this though! Wonder if he might break into song!

ladybird69 · 10/11/2016 02:54

Omg that's Gunner!? I was tearing my hair out what he was from, he very much like the guy from corrie in the bistros they could be twins. I miss Nashville Sad
Loving the second series.

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 10/11/2016 06:21

Ulyses,
Not Niska... She (blond) is the one was used as a sex object in series one. Hesta (brunette) was an industrial unit that "woke up" after Niska released the "code" into the internet.

At the end of part 2 Hesta killed one of the security guards who was being held hostage as an experiment to see if she "felt" remorse.

Italiangreyhound · 11/11/2016 00:45

Hester is very scary!

Excellent two episodes.

I just knew someone was coming through that en-suite door!

Italiangreyhound · 11/11/2016 08:49

I think Neska only killed one person. H

Italiangreyhound · 11/11/2016 09:10

Niska

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 11/11/2016 09:19

she killed one of the "customers" in the brothel, and another man at the fight club. Have a feeling there might have been another, but can't remember who it might have been?

JolieColombe · 12/11/2016 03:30

Didn't she shoot the old guy who used to work with Leo's dad? The one with the malfunctioning synth that the eldest daughter has just brought back from the tip?I was assuming that's the one she was meaning to go on trial for.

MumofthreeandBean · 12/11/2016 08:39

Someone needs to rewatch series 1 and clarify exactly who she killed!! I remember the fight club, not sure if she killed a customer ?! And thought the old man died of natural causes?!

I find Humans fascinating - what makes a human, can a synth feel emotion, will synths be accepted as conscious beings, what will happen to all the humans losing their livelihoods to synths etc?

I thought the older man was very ill and that was why he wanted his "son" (the blonde synth - name escapes me) to run away and hide, as social services sent synths to look after him and they would realise that the "son" synth wasn't quite right? They ran away together, but something happened and the "son" synth was captured? And now he has been found by the older daughter of the human family and is being restored...

I might read a series 1 synopsis online to remind myself!

iklboo · 12/11/2016 10:49

The synth cop lady shot old guy (William Hurt) by accident apparently.

Bumply · 12/11/2016 15:23

The old guy wanted to keep his malfunctioning synth because he had a store of memories of the old guy's wife. He couldn't bear to let him be recycled and that's why he tried to take him away.

IAmAmy · 12/11/2016 16:55

I loved the first series and love this one. Niska and Mattie are brilliant.

Italiangreyhound · 13/11/2016 22:53

Brilliant episode tonight.

Does Mattie realise who Odie is?

Trills · 13/11/2016 23:02

It FELT like Mattie was specifically rooting around for Odie when she picked him up at the recycling centre.

Italiangreyhound · 13/11/2016 23:13

Yes it did Trills but when he said his name there wasn't much reaction from her.

Plus what is up with the little girl???
