The good thing with the two timeline theory is that it would mean they are remaking the film alongside a 30 years later story :)
Can we talk about the film or is that potentially spoilery (lol at the idea of spoilers for a 43 year old film!!)

I doubt there's anyone on the thread who doesn't know the outcome of the film

Although my dim ex once told me off for plot spoiling Apollo 13! He asked how I knew for sure they would make it back to earth.

A thought about constellations though - how far from earth do you have to be before the star field is sufficiently different that you don't see the same constellations?

I dunno, ijustwanna I was talking about it to someone a few days ago and they had no idea where the story was going!! I mentioned Jurassic park and they looked at me like !!

I don't know the outcome of ghe film - don't expect anyone to tiptoe around avoiding spoilers though. I did see it in the 70s, probably as a tween (we watched all linds of innappropriate stuff), and remember it being scary and disturbing, but can't temember the story.
Was all set to watch it the other week but discovered DH has done one of his random and inexplicable Sky cancellations. That reminds me - 'DH!'
I did have athought about the scene in the shed with Ed Harris and Dolores (the first episode). As someone said, we don't know for sure what he did - maybe she met the same fate as that poor man on the mountain, and he's making a hideous'collection' for some reason.

I would think it's fair enough to discuss the film. After all, it is 43 years old as someone has said upthread.

However, I don't think everyone will be as reasonable as shotgun, will they? There's always one

But I'd like to talk about the film in regards to the series (in fact, I have upthread . It never occurred to me not to actually). It's looking like there may be parallels.

Gutted as my sky box has failed in series record of this. Are the first 3 episodes available on catch up anywhere please? Settled down for a binge watch today and nothing.

Watching it all again tonight. I've noticed some more things. When William and his BIL are on the train there's a flash of light and everything rumbles just as they arrive in west world. Some sort of teleport? I'm even more convinced of the two timelines now as well. And I definitely think Bernard is a host.

Agree with some kind of teleport into WW from reality too.

Oi, where have you lot gone? Episode 4 was a bit pants.

They almost make me think Ford may have killed Arnold because he found out Ford's true plan, and that he's a mean old bugger.

I think episode 4 was the weakest so far. I don't think it moved the story on much but I'm still enjoying it, just hope it doesn't run out of steam.

What is Ford's plan? I'm beginning to wonder if they are all hosts except Ford and this is his personal toy town

They seem to know in the control centre when a host is deviating from their loop/doing something odd etc, so how come Maeve was able to hide those drawings of the hazmat suit, and Dolores was able to dig up a gun without any of them noticing?

I did wonder if everyone had died 30 years ago except Ford too.
There was the weird bit when one of the others said something to bad cowboy and he told him to shut up as he was on vacation though.

I think it the Maeve thing and Dolores gun thing weren't noticed because they hadn't left their main story location as they only tried to recover Dolores when she buggered off.

Yes, William and Logan had a conversation about the 'business' he was marrying into as well. I think I'm confusing myself trying to work out if it's two different timelines or not.

Good idea. I agree it was rather slow but I still enjoyed it. I wondered about the Dolores/gun thing and the Maeve/drawings thing as well. Also the Maeve/bullet scene. But then I don't think the hosts are micro-controlled to that extent as the control centre don't see them as having any agency so wouldn't think they had to do any more than round them up when they stray.
Did anyone notice Logan swapped guns with a host?I wondered if that might be how Dolores got hold of a real gun. Bound to be consequences anyway!

I still hope think Logan will be the first human casualty.
I thought it was the bullets but when hosts shoot each other the bulllets don't seem like blanks and the bad cowboy gave the little girl a bullet last week. So maybe the guns the hosts use have a special human sensor in them?

Hope next week is better.

In the film the guns/bullets have heat sensors so won't fire at anything alive.

In regards to the two time line theory... A lady notified the Hemsworth brother that Dolores was travelling out of her loop and he seemingly sent someone to collect her. Then later in the ep someone else in the control centre says that there is a 'pyrotechnic request' which seems to be the Man in Black breaking Hector out of prison? I'm wracking my brains with this. Is the Hemsworth brother a host perhaps? Unless I'm being really thick and missing something obvious.

Agree though, weakest episode yet.

Ok. I understand there's a yet-unexplained-way to stop the guns seriously injuring 'real' people. BUT if nobody knows who is 'real' and who is a host how do the 'real' people not accidentally hurt themselves or each other in some other way? It would be so easy to accidentally fall off your horse/ride over a cliff, or punch someone in the face or stab their hand like thingymajig's brother in law to be (sorry terrible description) did to that old guy in the saloon - you could both think the other person is a host until you've accidentally murdered them! The waiver you'd have to sign would be crazy, and even then I bet the moment one person got injured there would be a huge drop-off in attendees (thinking of Alton Towers in rl).

I also wish they had let Sidse Babbette Knudsen (boss lady) keep her 'real' english-speaking accent, which is more British and entirely understandable (as she speaks in Borgen/interviews/Inferno) instead of Americanising it up so it's a weird american/english/danish hybrid . As it is that's the main reason that makes me think she's not a robot because surely they would have fixed that!

Agree with whoever said it needs a bit of humour - at least with GOT you get Tyrion/Varys/Queen of Thornes being sarcy as hell, Cersei getting pissed, etc.

Watched it, I really don't think it needed the orgy but I enjoyed this episode.
