2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

40,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch the last episode of series 2. And that first post is a distant memory.

Have alook at TG's comments on Radio Times that he would like to do a series/spin off/whatever with the CJ/Molly storyline, but wouldn't want a happy wedding, nice kids thing. Would want something dramatic and/or bad going on. I got the feeling he would do it in a heartbeat if he could get LT to agree. Says he loves her character.

Suggest we get serious about this and get up a petition/appeal to her, CJ and TG to do just that. Can only be good for both actors careers to have fans asking them directly ...even from afar, like NZ and Aussie. Shows how universal the appeal is.
What do you all think?
I love, I think you'd be a brilliant "secretary" in the UK. There are a couple of Kiwis I can think of who would do the job down under.
I think we'd need to get onto it smartly before planning is too far advanced for Series 3.
Haven't seen Episode 5 yet. Sounds a bit blah. What a shame. Will watch as soon as and finish off the good captain's diary. Perhaps he can give it to Molly to read and then give him live feedback, in the "M" (for "Molly, of course") section of FF.

Evening ladies... I think a few of us will be amused to identify with this...

Thanks for pointing out that thread dance! Grin

Ilovelblue · 06/10/2016 07:29

Not me kuia. You'll have to recruit elsewhere. I said at the start of this series that I'm happy to sit back and see what TG's fab imagination conjures up. There are folk here I think who follow him on things like Twitter which I don't even begin to understand. I've enough RL problems to juggle at the moment. OG is just a lovely form of escapism for me.

Ilovelblue · 06/10/2016 07:31

Dance I see nobody from here has written in to express empathy with their own hormonal crushes. At least Liam Gallagher is a real person.....Blush

Ilovelblue · 06/10/2016 07:36

How do we all feel this morning ladies now we've had time to sleep on it and mull it all over?

Rhu in answer to the question you posed last night, I do think Elvis redeemed himself. Taking a bullet has to show something. Remorse? Love? Complete madness? Ultimate grand gesture?

icemistOBE · 06/10/2016 07:51

I enjoyed the last episode, Georgie chose herself. Felt sorry for Jamie. In a way I'm glad Molly did not make an appearance as it would have overshadowed the episode completely.

Can't see LT ever coming back to OG, from that interview TG did with radio times it's clear he'd love her to come back but ball is in her court.

Rhubarb01 · 06/10/2016 07:51

Morning.

ilove I guess some might see Elvis' action as another grand gesture but he had to take a few deep breaths and steel himself before he stood up to deflect the attention and it was mainly out of desperation to save Georgie and he must have known he could die - so yes, I vote he redeemed himself!

I suppose Georgie's spending her leave (or non-honeymoon) at that camp in Kenya before she returns to the army - if she decided to stay in would they allow her to do that?

pixieg1rl · 06/10/2016 08:14

I don't think I can make the leap to understand why anyone would fancy Liam Gallagher ilove. Shudder

Ilovelblue · 06/10/2016 08:16

Rhu like you, I was an Elvis supporter, so he definitely redeemed himself. I wonder if he'll reappear in seties 3? I did wonder if it was an irrational knee jerk reaction on his part, but given his tole in the SAS, I have assumed it was a calculated move.

Rhubarb01 · 06/10/2016 08:16

Yes, I saw that thread last night and wondered if it would resonate here but to be honest when I saw the subject matter I was gobsmacked. At least our obsession makes sense.

Rhubarb01 · 06/10/2016 08:18

Well, CJ did call him a 'mad bastard' - perhaps that's a technical term in the SAS manual of strategic moves!

Ilovelblue · 06/10/2016 08:19

Totally agree pix and to admit it as well!

PollyPerky · 06/10/2016 08:24

This series wasn't a patch on the first one.
There were so many things not right with it.

I didn't engage at all with the main characters. They didn't have enough depth for a start. The plot was thin- basically a lovers' triangle with a bit of SAS thrown in. The terrorist plot wasn't that engaging.

The sheer lack of realism was its undoing. I mean who would tell their ex about all the plans of the SAS and counter terrorism- even if she was an army medic? Who would do what Elvis did at the end- endanger his own life? Incredibly unprofessional and not in the SAS handbook. Why did georgie go with him in the car anyway? She's a medic who was off duty. She had no role /right to go unarmed into that kind of situation.

Basically, it was all rather silly and disappointing.

Verbena37 · 06/10/2016 09:04

I really enjoyed the whole series but thinking I may have missed a few of the last season 1 episodes. For some reason, I thought there had been two seasons before this one. Perhaps it was the MN ongoing CJ thread that made me think there had been another season?

Anyway, I thought MK was brill. She is a very good actress. Whilst the SAS protocol may not have been true to life, the series was still good entertainment.

Rhubarb01 · 06/10/2016 09:11

I know this will never happen but I really would like to see MK and LT back together possibly volunteering to go to some emergency disaster relief location and working alongside each other as fellow army medics - of course they'd have to retitle the show 'Our Girls'.

pixieg1rl · 06/10/2016 09:12

There was a pilot verbena, which showed Molly joining up and going through basic. It really gave Molly's story in S1 more depth. You can find it on YouTube

Rhubarb01 · 06/10/2016 09:22

There is one basic problem with keeping all the details totally accurate and realistic - the whole series would have taken about 20 hours and would have bored the audience rigid. There's no choice but to compromise. So, all in all despite all those little things that we love to question and critique, I still enjoyed it because ultimately it's entertainment.

Verbena37 · 06/10/2016 09:56

I was wrong.....I had watched the whole series. I just didn't remember until I just watched the last two on YouTube. Blimey my memory is getting bad!

icemistOBE · 06/10/2016 12:10

Totally agree rhu we all know that in RL situations as in OG would never happen but we are entertained.

I'm in shock that we already know we've got series 3, but know the delay last time was LT and then finding new actress

OP posts:
kuiakaituhi · 06/10/2016 12:16

A pity ilove ,as you are one of the most prolific posters on here on a variety of topics and interests, I guess I wondered whether the end of the series might leave you with extra time on your hands...

Ilovelblue · 06/10/2016 12:19

Shock as in wow that's great or something else ice?

My friend who supposedly likes OG is coming for tea tonight but emailed this morning to say she fell asleep during last night's finale so am doubtful we'll have any deep and meaningful discussions on it tonight!

I've said before how I watch Holby every week but it's totally unrealistic. It doesn't stop me from watching it though. I applied the same logic to OG.

Nickel45 · 06/10/2016 12:20

That's so funny verb!

Completely underwhelmed by the series, sorry TG, but will look forward to the new series anyway. In fact, my box only recorded 6 minutes of the last ep, and the only disappointment was because it makes it difficult to do the watchalong and be on here at the same time!!!! Hey ho.

On a positive note, Motherland has also been commissioned :)

Ilovelblue · 06/10/2016 12:20

I never have enough time kuia. I am always on the go and work full time too.

kuiakaituhi · 06/10/2016 13:05

NOt a patch on Series 1 Disjointed, sub plots that went nowhere. Apart f James parentsrom MK, second rate acting.
When the last series finished I found heaps of inspiration in the minor characters to develop stories and parts of the story itself to expand and experiment with >, I can't think of anyone or anything from this series I want to do the same with. I'm left feeling flat as.
If only TG would realise what a marvellous crew of people he introduced us to in Series 1. Molly's family, the Afghanis, Sam and the mysterious rsLake Garda loving James parents etc, the Army, Geddings, the recruite
