2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

40,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch the last episode of series 2. And that first post is a distant memory.

Evening. Late to the party today.

Yes, I enjoyed Greg's er...performance.. a great deal.

I also enjoyed Judge Rinder's Grandma trying to talk to Tess about Vernon Kaye during her intro to his dance - hilarious.

Rhubarb01 · 12/11/2016 19:38

Oh Ed was the nuts tonight!

pixieg1rl · 12/11/2016 19:47

Son loved Ed

moojangles · 12/11/2016 19:51

Twitter seems torn between Ed and Greg's buttocks

pixieg1rl · 12/11/2016 19:52

Sorry, cannot warm to Danny.

Rhubarb01 · 12/11/2016 20:03

I must admit I don't warm to Danny either. I reckon it's Ore and Daisy in the bottom two tonight and Daisy will go because the judges love Ore. Ed is the worst dancer but you just want to see him out there entertaining. I reckon he'll leave after Blackpool next week. Technically I reckon Claudia is the best female dancer - reckon she could get a ten next week if she gets a good show stopper dance - jive maybe.

Ilovelblue · 12/11/2016 20:11

Bit behind you all tonight but skipping all through Tess and Claudia and their stupid jokes.

Got through loads of boring household chores today including scrubbing the carpet in the bedroom where I dropped an eyeshadow and made one heck of a mess.

Very impressed with the guy who came to sort out the door which wouldn't shut properly after the new carpet was laid. I think he must have thought I was an alcoholic though as I opened the door to him whilst unscrewing a bottle of red wine - for cooking I hasten to add. Then when he looked up there were four bottles of champagne and ten bottles of wine on the top of the kitchen cupboards - none of them mine but waiting for our Christmas raffle at work!

Rhubarb01 · 12/11/2016 20:16

mooj I enjoyed 'Close the Enemy' as well - not sure where it's going. Stephen Poliakoff seems to like using big old hotels. The last drama was set mostly in a big old hotel. I'm not sure about the British army chap either and he has a strange way of talking - I kept thinking he was Scottish but trying to speak with an English accent - weird but intriguing. I love all those femme-fatale type women slinking around hotel corridors in their satin gowns, dropping deep meaningful one-liners here and there, great stuff. However, I simply don't believe there were any toffee-apples in London in 1946 - all that sugar!!

moojangles · 12/11/2016 20:26

rhu I know what you mean about the accent and what was the continual head titlt about?! Reckon it was def black market toffee apples. My Dad spent his childhood scampering around bomb sites looking for loot and my Mum's obsession with leaving no meat definitely linked to rationing and possibly my vegetarianism.
Not aware of much previous Poliakoff stuff but will look out for it. Love old buildings too. Watched all of Tutankhamun today which I enjoyed

pixieg1rl · 12/11/2016 20:44

Totally forgot about the Poliakoff thing, will watch it later. Right now I'm trying to get an over excited child to sleep. He's already perfected Ed Balls' moves.

I think Daisy & Ore for dance off, Daisy probably won't stay which is a shame as I prefer her to Ore.

Rhubarb01 · 12/11/2016 20:52

Yes, forgot about the head tilt mooj especially when talking to that little girl. I've just remembered that the scene in the dining room when she's crying ranks as one of the most cringeworthy of the year - what dreadful false crying. I'm surprised they didn't dub it with something more convincing.

I somehow missed Tutankhamun because it clashed with Poldark but I might give it a go as Saturday nights are dire after SCD finishes.

Ilovelblue · 12/11/2016 21:52

Every time I watch the Remembrance service from the Albert Hall, I end up in tears.

Richtea19 · 12/11/2016 22:15

I enjoyed SCD tonight, but I wasn't really watching properly as I've been baking for a baby shower tomorrow! Never had that when I had my kids! 40scones and 30 gingerbread men! I did love Louise though.
I started watching the BBC2 Stephen P program but thought it was quite slow, might have to try again with it.

woof are you out there? Nashville is getting good!!

icemistOBE · 12/11/2016 22:21

In tears at festival of remembrance, although that singer murdered Abide With Me Shock

Taped 1st episode of Tutankhamen but promptly forgot about it. Hoping it's avail to watch all episodes

We did the 2 minutes silence at work yesterday as we always do. In my part of the biulding, there are around 70 staff and I heard at least 2 people carry on working/typing on their keyboards and my colleague said there were two more at her end of the office. I get really annoyed with folk like that. I know not everyone agrees with it, but it's only 2 minutes for goodness sake. It's just so disrespectful and ignorant.

icemistOBE · 13/11/2016 08:09

That drives me potty too ilove, when I worked in the city we used to stand outside our shop and loads would just keep on walking and chatting.

We're off to local remembrance parade. We started going a few years ago and K asked on Fri if we would go again this time. Never a big crowd.

I'm a celeb... starts tonight. Love that programme Grin

Morning all. Beautiful day here. We are off to our local remembrace parade with the Cubs. We get a big crowd as we are close to a military base, always moving. Although we are singing abide with me, which unfortunately always reminds me of an fa cup final, which is the also incredible, but for completely different reasons! We aren't allowed to wear anything over the uniform, so thermals and layers underneath, although littlie has declared she won't be cold and isn't going to wear anything under her uniform. She'll be standing nowhere near me then!

Heligirl79 · 13/11/2016 10:31

Hello everyone,

I have been following this thread, but not really had anything interesting to say, so not posted. Hope everyone is well.

I've been so tired since going back to work, it's only part time, but I seem to spend most nights falling asleep on the sofa!

I've been watching strictly and the missing, which has been really good and is something nearly everyone in real life is watching and talking about, although most of us haven't got a clue what's going on!

Looking forward to the return of I'm a celebrity, but there are also a few other things on tonight at the same time that I want to watch, so looks like I'm going to start filling the Virgin box up again.

Have a lovely day ladies x

kazzaD66 · 13/11/2016 13:03

Ilovelblue · 13/11/2016 17:35

Evening. I'll finish off this thread. Not been a very exciting day and my friend (who I went to the south of France with last month) has just been to tell me her father has been diagnosed with bone cancer. A few weeks ago, the hospital told him he had rheumatoid arthritis which is now not the case. As you can imagine, the family are very shocked. There is so much bad news around.

See everyone on the other side on thread XLI.
