2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

40,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch the last episode of series 2. And that first post is a distant memory.

Morning, so sorry bout your cat Rich they really are part of your family.

I've re-watched some of series1. Are both very different series. I like them both, series 1 is my favourite but I think that's because of the love story. Stil wonder what parts of series 3 would have been for Molly...

Mum is ok ilove I've not spoken to her but my sister and brother have both said she's on good spirits.

Did anyone watch Poldark?

Richtea19 · 24/10/2016 07:22

I still haven't re watched any of series 2, mainly because I haven't had the time, but then two years ago I probably didn't either but just managed! I'm holding out for news of when BA will hit our screens again as o need a focus and something to look forward to.

woof are you up to date with Nashvillle? Can't stand Marcus thingy. ADHD ???

ice yes I watched Poldark very good!!!

Rhubarb01 · 24/10/2016 08:25

Morning! I watched Poldark last night. I've been wondering how they were going to play that particular scene for some time and I could see they've been building up the story towards it for a while. I think they managed to get it just about the right side of ok. All I can say is 'Go Demelza!' that was a scene to rival someone else we know - in fact better and much more deserved in my opinion.

(You can tell I am deliberately trying to be vague as I don't want to spoil it for anyone else)

Apart from that I have to say that I haven't enjoyed Poldark so much this series - a bit dull in places. I've a soft spot for Dr Ennys, though. Ahh what a sweetie!

Rhubarb01 · 24/10/2016 18:04

Evening. I can see it's been quiet on here. I came home from work to discover that Poldark appears to have set the cat amongst the pigeons. It looks like it's not a good idea to have an opinion on it. If the BBC wanted to spark some controversy they have managed it. It's a bit of a problem for the writers of the TV programme, though, as if they want to be faithful to the books and make more series based on them there is long-term significance to the events.

Apart from that nothing to report other than a dull day and it's cold and raining. Hope it was better for you.

moojangles · 24/10/2016 20:29

Rock and roll day here, housework and homework and now rain!

pixieg1rl · 24/10/2016 22:14

So good mooj, getting all your jobs done at the start of half term.

In laws left today, so just the mountain of washing to clear here....

Enjoying your latest chapter Rhu, only just found the time to read it.

pixieg1rl · 24/10/2016 22:20

I don't know enough about the story to come in Poldark, and how it would be affected if they changed the original rape story to a consent story, or if it makes any difference at all.

Rhubarb01 · 24/10/2016 22:39

Pix from what I can gather the Poldark purists say it's all about the character of Ross and the fact that he has a darker side to him and the TV series should show this. The 1970's version didn't dress things up and I don't think it was ambiguous but we've got a different perspective now and it looks like the BBC tried to create a scene that was neither one thing nor the other. They had to create 'a scene' because of the story but I do think they could have made it just a little more obvious that it was consensual - all they needed was for Ross to just pause for a moment as if reflecting on what was happening and thinking twice and Elizabeth to make it obvious from her actions or words that she didn't mind. Instead it looks like they've created a lot of Ross haters or alternatively people who didn't initially mind what they saw but are now think they should have done - if you see what I mean - hashtag confusing!

P.S. pix and ilove thanks for the comments on the story.

A late good evening ladies. Not exactly been a great day at work as I realised I've miscalculated my holidays to the end of the year (ie, not enough!) and then a horrid, weird guy in the office has told one of my work friends he thinks I am loud, wanting her to side with him. We're in an open plan office and he must sit at least 30 feet from me, with two very loud men who sit a lot nearer so I'm a bit hacked off to be honest. He's a bit of a bully and I had a set-to with him a couple of years ago - not entirely sure what has brought this on. What a complete ars&hole!

After work, I had to go for a chiropody appointment - I have a problem with my toe after an accident about 4 years ago. We were talking about various television programmes. He started with the Bake Off and you guessed it, we eventually got on to OG. His girlfriend turns out to be a huge fan of BA/CJ. I dropped my signed photo into the conversation as well! He is a fan of MK. I never expected to be discussing OG with a 25 year old chiropodist!

Ilovelblue · 25/10/2016 16:50

Very quiet on here today ladies. You must all be doing some very exciting things!

Rhubarb01 · 25/10/2016 17:41

oh I wish ilove...nothing but work today although I've got a couple of days off now because of half term. However, the likelihood of finding anything my kids will agree on to do is quite small. It would be nice to think we could go and do something together but it probably won't happen. I hope others are doing better.

Rhubarb01 · 25/10/2016 17:45

By the way I am seriously jealous of the fact you have found some real life people to talk to about OG! I thought I would try asking my mum if she watched series two particularly as it was on after Bake-Off and she knew how interested I was in series one. The answer was predictable, "Oh, I didn't watch it seeing as I didn't watch the first series!"

icemistOBE · 25/10/2016 18:12

Although we did pass by the set of Snatch that Luke P is filming in Manchester and saw some filming but we were too far away to see who it was

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 25/10/2016 18:15

Oh well done ice I hope you won it by demonstrating your encyclopedic knowledge of OG.

moojangles · 25/10/2016 18:38

Well done ice. Met up with RLOG fan friend, so lots of CJ based chat for me today

Ilovelblue · 25/10/2016 22:23

Well done ice! Had you already bought the DVD yourself or not?

I have promised to lend my friend I was on holiday with my DVD as she is a fan of Luke P. I have said she can have it for one week only. I picked my DVD up from work where I had had it delivered, knowing I would be away. I did mean to watch it tonight but after Holby (the storylines get more stupid by the week but I still watch every time) but then I got quite taken with Ordinary Lies. Did anyone else watch it?

Ilovelblue · 25/10/2016 22:26

Rhu it was rather odd having a conversation about OG last night, especially with a man sorting my toe out at the same time! He was rather impressed with my signed photo and admitted he watched it for MK. He even said he could understand what his girlfriend saw in CJ (I have to point out that other than the curly hair, there was no similarity between himself and CJ). It wasn't quite the same sort of conversation you would have with another woman about CJ etc though.

Ilovelblue · 25/10/2016 22:31

I can't remember whether I said last week but when we were in Nice, there was quite a strong military presence, as you would probably expect after what happened in July. I can't say the soldiers filled me with a great confidence though. Most of them seemed more interested in checking out the young girls who walked past and were very young! I dread to think how quickly they would have reacted in a real life situation. There were at least 3 groups of them patrolling through town plus police on horseback

icemistOBE · 26/10/2016 07:49

Morning

I had pre-ordered ilove but when hubby lost his job I cancelled it. Was going to order today so saved myself the money!

Richtea19 · 26/10/2016 09:48

Well done ice I never seem to win anything! Lady Luck was on your sideWink

School holidays and two teenagers loafing about in their smelly rooms, yuk!

Rhubarb01 · 26/10/2016 12:15

Afternoon all - just. It's a bit dull here today but I am hoping to get out later with the kids in tow and take the dog for a walk in a local nature reserve. I've got a feeling it could end up with the him needing a bath though Hmm

Did anyone see that trending thread on here last night - rather unpromisingly entitled "I slept with my best friend last night". Well, it turned out to be a bit like 'When Harry Met Sally' with the lady involved asking what she ought to do re: texting or not texting as she was worried about everything being awkward. There was the usual advice and then someone suggested text him "Does this mean we're engaged now?". Needless to say there was a very long pause filled with ladies desperate to find out what happened and lots of really heartwarming personal stories of those who had been in the same situation and were now happily married etc. Well it turns out she did text that message and got the immediate response "Would you like us to be?" and all turned out well as said man turned up, lady is no longer single and hopefully they live happily ever after. It was just amazing how everyone was living vicariously through this situation and at the back of my mind I was thinking if this poor man only knew how many women were on tenterhooks waiting for his response - MN is weird sometimes but sort of lovely too!

pixieg1rl · 26/10/2016 12:32

Well that sounds like the sort of positive life affirming stuff I need to read right now Rhu. I shall hunt it down and read it later.
