2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

40,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch the last episode of series 2. And that first post is a distant memory.

Happy World Smile Day Grin

Glad it's got pride of place ilove hope you said it was most definitely the real thing!

A lot of those who said they had never seen the 1st series were watching because of either Michelle or Luke. 2 girls at work watched because of MK and I know of several on Twitter (from states etc) who have been watching on you tube purely because of Luke.

I think with Georgie because we didn't have a pilot where we got to know her it was harder to gel with her- she was already established in the army, settled (supposedly) with the heartbreak of being jilted.

I still liked her character and will definitely watch the next series, really not sure how CJ will fit in to another series and suspect if they can get Luke on board, we won't see CJ again Confused

Ooh yes Christmas cake! Good reminder rhu need to find a recipe for a smallish one just for me Grin

Rhubarb01 · 07/10/2016 07:55

Yes I might try to make one again this year mads. I use Delia's recipe and it's always turned out ok so far! Smile my contribution to National Smile Day!

I've decided the OG debate is akin to do you prefer the 1960's original Star Trek or Next Generation. I'm not a great sci-fi enthusiast but I think I'll always prefer the flappy-trousered, booted, mini-skirted and beehived 60's version myself - original and the best in my eyes but I'm sure that the new versions have many different things to offer as well.

Well, busy day ahead. Take care all.

Hi Ladies
I hope you don't mind me joining in? I have loved reading all your thoughts on Our Girl and CJ/BA in particular. As yet I have not seen the final episode of S2, that comes with living across the other side of the world. After reading this thread I am not sure if I want to!! I suspect I am going to be hugely disappointed. However will upload it from you tube later.
Lacey Turner was Our Girl for me, I loved her journey into the army, her banter with 2 section and of course her relationship with CJ.❤️❤️
I would like to think that TG would take their story further. Like why did CJ return to the army after deciding to resign his commission?
I guess I am having difficulty getting to grips with the EH/GL/ control freak boy friend saga. It does not get close to the chemistry that CJ and Molly had.
Thank goodness for FF and the amazing writers that frequently make my day and at times have me doubled up with laughter. 😂😂

Ilovelblue · 07/10/2016 08:32

I most certainly did tell my friend it was the real deal ice!

I'm definitely up for the next series. As has already been mentioned though, I think if BA doesn't have a decent part, he'd be better staying away. Do we have any intel as to any upcoming roles for him?

Do we think he may like another UK tour? I mean, Molly's away and he might be at a loose end...? BK if I'm his tour manager, could you be his close protection again?

moojangles · 07/10/2016 18:57

Loving those pics nickel and the article too

Olliepops05 · 07/10/2016 19:11

Thanks Nickel really enjoyed this interview, BA has given a few magazine interviews recently, good to see his personality shining through and given us an insight into his world as an actor. Great to read such detailed answers and comes across as a deep thinker. Photos cute too. His PR company is definitely working hard to increase his profile, hopefully will pick up a new and major role soon. Apologise for being a bit negative yesterday just feeling a bit sad and deflated over S2 and having to accept probably will never see CJ/MD together again in OG and missing out in unanswered questions from S1.

Nickel45 · 07/10/2016 21:00

Just seen this too ... LPs next role, with Ron Weasley. Filming in Manchester. Looking for extras for the filming apparently!

Nice interview and nice pics Nickel. I was partial to a bit of Gershwin even before this but feel my interest in 'An American in Paris' growing - might even have to feign interest in obscure Kazakhstan musicians too - but maybe not!

Babbas · 07/10/2016 23:31

I agree with cjwoof. It was poo.

I like mk but her big fat fake lips were off putting and her constantly licking them (why do all those with lip jobs do that weird lip licking thing all the time? ). I felt embarrassed for BA agreeing to do this series. What a waste. I doubt I'll watch s3.

kuiakaituhi · 08/10/2016 02:45

I think that cringeworthy line from Georgie's mother about "God's pencil" was the very last straw in a fistful of short ones, as far as I'm concerned.
I was amazed that TG would allow such a horrendous clanger in one of his scripts! Would have led to an automatic D- grade, or worse, in any writing from any student during my English teaching days.

Richtea19 · 08/10/2016 08:25

Lovely interview nickel. Although series 2 was not a patch on series one, it all goes towards high ing BAs profile, something else on his CV and hopefully all the press will allow him to move on to bigger better things. In sure a lot of young actors cringe at what they have on their CVs when they started out, and he is still very young!

Rhubarb01 · 08/10/2016 08:32

Just read your post rich and for some reason the first image that sprung to mind was Jeremy Irons doing 'Play Away' - quite a world away from Brideshead Revisited. I don't think BA needs to worry too much yet unless any of those independent short films has some cringeworthy footage?

Forgot to say yesterday, welcome Trish nice to have you with us in this world of madness!

Ilovelblue · 08/10/2016 10:34

Morning. Are we still on for 9pm tonight?

Didn't get much chance to post last night. I went to see my elderly friend with the very sick husband. I ended up almost losing my temper at one point and shouted at her as she incessantly interrupted me. I have a feeling I treated her like a small child. Part of me felt a bit bad when I got home and another part of me felt she deserved it as it's very rude of her and I usually end up losing my train of thought when she does so. She has an awful lot to put up with but I told her if she carried on, I was going to go home and watch Gardeners' World instead.

Rhubarb01 · 08/10/2016 10:49

Well, ladies and any gents who happen to be lurking, I have to confess to being a little depressed by the sad state of this thread at the present time now that Series 2 has ended.

Now, I know that series 2 didn't meet all our expectations or indeed deeply disappointed in some quarters but I am sad to think that this malaise might lead to a lack of interest going forward with this thread. I know there are many more important things in life and I've got a bucket-full most of the time but in the last two years I've looked on this thread as a place to have a laugh, share a bit of a camaraderie and be downright ridiculous sometimes so I'd be sad to see it 'bleed out'. If that should happen I might be forced to result to blogging Shock

So for that reason I'm going to throw this open...if you were in charge of series 3 what would you include? What would your story line be? Who gets to return, who leaves? Serious, humorous or outlandish - whatever your fiendish imaginations conjure up.

Rhubarb01 · 08/10/2016 10:57

Oh and yes 9pm still fine here ilove.

pixieg1rl · 08/10/2016 11:40

I'm still here Rhu, hopelessly over committed with trying to get stuff done before tonight's watch along. I have ideas coming out of my ears for series 3, and I will no doubt bore you senseless share them when I can get to it.

Don't anyone leave just yet!

SoEverybodyDance · 08/10/2016 12:10

That's a great challenge Rhubarb. I'm up for it... and look forward to reading everyone else's too!

Could it be a little bit like playing Our Girl consequences? That would be fun too actually...

MaddieMoo82 · 08/10/2016 12:18

Ooh rhu sorry I'm still here and not planning on going anywhere. Everything seems a bit bonkers at the mo and never seem to be able to sit down long enough to write a worthwhile post. Will try harder. Won't be able to do the watchalong but will have a think about series 3 and post my no doubt rubbish ideas later. I apologise in advance!!!!

Richtea19 · 08/10/2016 12:19

rhu completely committed ! You're not going to get rid of me!

I'm in Canterbury this weekend having a sleepover at my friends house (an excuse to get away from boys and DH) so won't make the watch along tonight .

MaddieMoo82 · 08/10/2016 12:21

Oh and welcome trish Smile

Rhubarb01 · 08/10/2016 12:27

Sorry everyone didn't mean to sound like a jolly-hockey-sticks Head Girl chivying everyone along (does that have two V's? it's just that we all sounded a bit down in the mouth about series 2 and I hoped there'd still be enough fun in the idea of series 3 to keep up the chat at least until it airs when we can dissect and criticise to our heart's content again.

Actually, I reckon woof is probably writing her version of series 3 already for our amusement.

icemistOBE · 08/10/2016 13:32

I have no plans to leave!!! First requests from me for series 3.... SF beards and low slung combats on long lean legs, don't have to be cj's
