Started last night C4 9pm.
I thought it was good.
Excellent performances from Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters & Tim McInnerny.

I really enjoyed it. Was interesting how they built on his private persona until actually he was quite a twat, and the wife was accepting of it. I was thinking the twist would be that he was actually guilty, but now I think that's the twist. Very well played by Robbie Coltrane.

kennypppppppp · 21/09/2016 23:07

It was bloody brilliant. Quite eurgh in a good way. Loved the cameos at the beginning. Can't wait until next week. What with that and real housewives of Cheshire I'm in quite a good mood!

Enjoyed it too. And it's only four episodes, so hopefully won't be padded out with useless chuff. I hate it when they include extra story lines that are naff.

yorkshapudding · 23/09/2016 16:46

Only just caught up with this. I really liked it.

I found the scene with his Daughter really interesting. All that stuff about her dream, I felt really tense the whole time she was describing it. I kept waiting for her to reveal that he'd abused her as a child but maybe that's too obvious.

timeforabrewnow · 23/09/2016 20:39

Agreed - really top notch acting from all. Fascinating to watch and try to figure out why Robbie Coltrane is such a good actor and so believable.

Clawdy · 24/09/2016 22:46

Robbie C excellent as always, and the beginning was so good, but then I realized I just didn't warm to any of the characters. The daughter scene just didn't ring true, and Julie W's accent did not sound right. It didn't work for me, such a disappointment.

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 25/09/2016 19:10

Brilliant acting and writing. I don't think we're really meant to warm to any of them, at least at this stage - that's the whole point.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 26/09/2016 15:52

British TV drama at its very finest. I love that it's not at all black or white.

neonrainbow · 26/09/2016 16:07

I liked it and can't wait to see what's going to happen next. You start off thinking someone so popular couldn't be a dick them find out more about him and realise his wife can't have an easy time putting up with it all.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 26/09/2016 22:01

I thought it was great. The scene with the daughter was really good but made me feel so uncomfortable.

Saw Tim McInnerny in a play years ago and he was amazing. I thought all the acting was fantastic.

Really looking to next week.

RosieWithTheGoodCreditHistory · 27/09/2016 21:24

Anyone watching tonight?

SoleBizzz · 27/09/2016 21:25

I am watching

Helpisathand13 · 27/09/2016 21:26

I've got it set on series record. I wasn't sure id like it so recorded to try and thought it was very good. I agree Julie Walters accent dodgy and daughter dream scene uncomfortable.

RosieWithTheGoodCreditHistory · 27/09/2016 21:30

Tonight more uncomfortable for me, so far. In a compelling way but can see some not liking it

SoleBizzz · 27/09/2016 21:33

I think tonight's episode is much bette

gingina · 27/09/2016 21:48

It's good but I wish they'd turn the bloody lights on!!
All that moody green lighting is a bit much!!!

Lottapianos · 27/09/2016 21:51

Julie Walters was just wonderful in that scene with Dee. Feeling so sorry for Dee, it seems like she's always been expected to be a 'good girl' and make other people happy. The birthday song and his speech were horrendous, so inappropriate. Not surprised she ran off

RosieWithTheGoodCreditHistory · 27/09/2016 21:54

I watch 'night time' tv by candlelight and fairy light so I love a good dark programme, ging. Although I have realised I need to buy a new TV. It's like watching on the laptop but not as far away

RosieWithTheGoodCreditHistory · 27/09/2016 21:54

I do wish they'd get a new bloody doorbell

RosieWithTheGoodCreditHistory · 27/09/2016 22:01

Oh my god

gingina · 27/09/2016 22:04

What happened at the very end when Dee was inside the car?
DS came into the room and I missed it Angry

RosieWithTheGoodCreditHistory · 27/09/2016 22:04

I can't be the only person still watching/this emotionally invested already, surely?!

Someone come talk to me about it, please!!

musicinspring1 · 27/09/2016 22:06

She wrote "I choose to believe" on the newspaper article in lipstick and then just drove herself right in....

musicinspring1 · 27/09/2016 22:07

I keep changing mind about him. Confused

RosieWithTheGoodCreditHistory · 27/09/2016 22:09

Into what was a child's bedroom? I think? I always get TV threads wrong since I gave up sky+...
