What a way to start.

I can't see Budapest getting it and LA had it in the 80s, so I'd guess between Paris and Rome.

dizzyfeck · 22/08/2016 12:18

Paris might get it as it will be the centenary of the last Paris Olympics. That would be great!

dizzyfeck · 22/08/2016 12:19

It's a great day today, clearly I need to broaden my vocabulary!

TeamGBsometimes · 22/08/2016 12:28

I can't wait for Tokyo. Thanks so much to Redtoothbrush for all your posts. I frequently checked them when wanting to know what was on Thanks

RedToothBrush · 22/08/2016 13:03

Paris won't get it. The decision is being made next year and I suspect that security concerns will still be all too real.

I doubt LA will get it. The feeling will be its Europe's turn.

I think Budapest has a very real chance, as its eastern rather than western Europe too. Its a beautiful city.

Rome I think will have concerns about its traffic infrastructure.

I'm sat watching the closing ceremony on repeat and MARIO!!! I am wondering if there is a cat in hell's chance of us affording to go. DS will be nearly 6. We loved Tokyo, but it was SOOOO expensive when we went (and the exchange rate was pants in comparison before Brexit so lord knows what its like now).

Japan will do an amazing job I have no doubt.

dizzyfeck · 22/08/2016 13:55

I really want to go. DH occasionally takes contract work for his old job, he was offered a three month contract in Japan last year but didn't take it. I hope they need to have a their networks optimised during the Olympics and we can go because it always includes accomodation and a daily food budget, he can stress in an office and I can eat and watch the Olympics! Smile

NigellasGuest · 22/08/2016 15:47

I would go if it was in Paris. Or at least, I'd like to think I'd go! I didn't go to London (except for the closing concert in Hyde Park to see Blur which was fantastic). I'm sure their security would be as good as anywhere else's?

Yes I bet Tokyo will be phenomenal. Shame that there will be an 8 hr time difference but will that mean the athletics finals etc. will be on in the late morning here, rather than in the small hours as per Rio?

DesolateWaist · 22/08/2016 16:00

Well 10am here is 6pm in Tokyo so hopefully they will be doing the track and field in the evenings.
We should be able to watch a lot of it live and then catch up with the stuff from earlier in the day in the evening.

Did anyone else use the BBC Sports 360 app?

I had no idea about the BBC Sports 360 app - I was using the ordinary BBC Sports app only. What did I miss out on?

DesolateWaist · 22/08/2016 17:11

It was a thing where you could watch an event from one fixed view point on your phone as if you were there. If you looked left, the camera looked left etc.

Just had this on my facebook and thought I'd share it. It translates to "The Olympics in Brazil was the same as the discovery" "A bunch of Gringos arrived and took all the gold" Grin.

Enjoy the paralympics everyone
