What a way to start.

OP posts:
Raahh · 20/08/2016 16:11

Thanks Desolate- I'd not watched before, and caught the end of a round when it happened, and it looked so randomGrin

JedRambosteen · 20/08/2016 16:13

French diver was like frickin' laser beam on dive 4 - so clean!

CaveMum · 20/08/2016 16:18

12 divers to go through. Tom still bottom but commentators still saying he can pull this out the bag.

purplevase4 · 20/08/2016 16:20

Wondering whether Tom D is unwell today.

Come on Non Stamford, would love you to get a medal.

RedToothBrush · 20/08/2016 16:34

I've cursed Tom Daley, haven't I?

Its all my fault.

Raahh · 20/08/2016 16:36

With 2 dives remaining he will need a miracle now . And even if he does get through, he's not long to recover before the final. In this form, I can't see him doing well.

It's very odd, and I can only assume he is ill in some way- nothing else makes sense, not after how well he did last night. Confused

cathyandclare · 20/08/2016 16:40

Jack Laugher was nearly out of the semis until he pulled out a good last dive and squeezed through in12th and he won a silver

Fiderer · 20/08/2016 16:42

What's their post-dive ritual? Small pool - no chlorine so a rinse? Shower and a tiny wet towel?

Raahh · 20/08/2016 16:46

yy, true about Jack .

maybe Tom's just saving it all til last, to conserve energy and all that....

Mirandawest · 20/08/2016 16:52

Am watching the triathlon. Two GB athletes in 3rd and 4th at the moment and 2.5km to go. Wonder what they're both like at sprint finishes.

Raahh · 20/08/2016 16:53

I'm watching both- they will both end in pretty dramatic fashion, I think (well, it needs to be dramatic for Daley).

CaveMum · 20/08/2016 16:56

That was shocking from Tom. Must be something wrong.

cathyandclare · 20/08/2016 16:57

Gutted for Tom.

Raahh · 20/08/2016 16:58

Cave definitely. Apart from his first dive, most of his dives barely got over 50Sad

Raahh · 20/08/2016 16:59

I've never seen anything where someone's form has nose-dived (sorry for the pun) over night, without there being a reason.

Mirandawest · 20/08/2016 17:03

That was good (triathlon rather than diving)

cathyandclare · 20/08/2016 17:05

I think diving is one of those sports like gym when you can have a bad day, no matter how good/fit/well prepared you are. Feel so sad for him, hope the press don't massacre him.

Raahh · 20/08/2016 17:07

Yes, the triathlon was excellent. Want to know what was going on with Jorgenson and Spirig at the front though- they seemed to be having a chat/or row at the front at some points.

Raahh · 20/08/2016 17:08

cathy me too- the media can be bastards at knocking people when they are down.

cathyandclare · 20/08/2016 17:08

Yes Raahh, I was hoping they'd start fighting and our two could have snuck past!!

Freshprincess · 20/08/2016 17:32

Ah poor Tom, I didnt even watch the first half of it because I thought he'd ace it.

faffalotty · 20/08/2016 17:34

Was watching the tri and missed the diving. Just heard about Tom. Nooooooo!! Poor lad. Tears in his eyes

cathyandclare · 20/08/2016 17:35

What a lovely interview, so gracious, so honest, I could barely watch.

CaveMum · 20/08/2016 17:36

That's a very emotional interview from Tom. He said he felt fine but things just didn't click. Such is life sometimes and he still did so well in the Synchro.

Raahh · 20/08/2016 17:39

There are a few who could learn something from Tom about taking defeat graciously. He was clearly devastated but still managed to say all the right things. He'll be back.
