What a way to start.

OP posts:
Mummylin · 21/08/2016 02:24

I feel quite exhausted after the 5000 metre race. And that's sitting in my chair ! Roll on tomorrow, night all.

lilydaisyrose · 21/08/2016 02:25

That's right Mummylin, yay! Does the number of golds count though for it to be counted as the most successful Games? London was 29 golds won & we currently have 27 (I know there's still part of tomorrow to go) - just wondered?

NoahVale · 21/08/2016 06:55

Wow, well done Mo, Fantastic double double gold!

cathyandclare · 21/08/2016 08:17

Mo is amazing! I skived off and went to bed
I see the gold medal in the high jump was won at 1.97m....Katerina J. T would have got a GOLD in the high jump and came nowhere in the heptathlon. She should seriously reconsider her event, she is so good at the jumps.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 21/08/2016 08:32

Cathy that's a crazy fact about KJT!

And wow Mo is a LEGEND!! So pleased he did it.

LotsOfDots · 21/08/2016 10:11

2 of the heptathletes went 1cm higher than the gold medalist. The other girl was the one who won the heptathlon gold. I do wonder if KJT should switch!

So pleased for Mo, he seems such a great bloke and so sincere.

sofato5miles · 21/08/2016 10:17

What are our chances of holding China off and keeping 2nd place today. On phone and the website kerps jumping!

cathyandclare · 21/08/2016 10:38

I think we'll beat China, we both have gold/silver finals but even if they win and Joyce loses we'll pip them by virtue of our higher number of silvers. Staggering really.

sofato5miles · 21/08/2016 10:50

So exciting. Will be refreshing later as on holiday and it's tricky

olympicfan · 21/08/2016 11:27

With the poor ticket sales at the Paralympics and funding being cut, it is a shame GB could not host it every 4 years - we would certainly fill the stadiums.

I went to the Paralympics athletics at London 2012. It was an amazing evening (even better than the Olympics).

RedToothBrush · 21/08/2016 12:11

Thanks for all your posts Red - you've been a star throughout! Really appreciated being able to clearly follow what was happening & when, especially given the time difference! StarFlowersStarFlowers

faffalotty · 21/08/2016 12:29

Yes thank you so much! Fair more useful than any other schedule I could find

PurpleDaisies · 21/08/2016 12:30

I totally agree! Awarding you a 🏅Red.

RedToothBrush · 21/08/2016 12:52

Thank you and no problem.

I did it simply for my own benefit because, as you say, all the other guides are rubbish!

Just makes sense to share!

CaveMum · 21/08/2016 13:27

Agree 100% with the others, your poss have been invaluable Red, even DH started asking what "the MNer said our medal chances are today" Grin

Mummylin · 21/08/2016 16:30

I too appreciated our own MN programme ! Thanks Red 💐

CaveMum · 21/08/2016 16:43

GB guaranteed to finish second now, China have only 1 athlete left to compete so at best can tie on number of Gold but we stay ahead due the number of Silvers we have.

We have 1 more chance of a Gold in the Boxing tonight.

NoahVale · 21/08/2016 18:15

I am sure, ignore me if you wish, that by american standards, china would come second with more medals overall.
like I said, feel free to ignore,

Thanks Red, what a Star, Thanks Star

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/08/2016 18:30

Another one thanking Red! Once I'd found this thread I didn't bother trying to make sense of the BBC listings - yours were better.

So delighted by Mo's triumph! It's going to be very odd in Tokyo with no Mo and no Bolt. I'm sure there will be new stars, though. One of our local parkrun regulars is a coach at our local athletics club and he reckons that one of his boys will be in the team for Tokyo (and another one might be there in 2024). I'd be dead excited to see a runner I'd cheered on at junior parkrun at the Olympics!

One of the 4 x 400 relay team went to my children's primary school. Utterly amazing to think we might have seen her in action at sports day 12 years ago ro so!

Dolly80 · 21/08/2016 18:34

Thanks Red for all the schedules, they've been invaluable.

I'll miss the Olympics and this thread, it's been great. I'm trying to work out if 4yrs is long enough to save for a trip to Tokyo 2020.

I'll have to make do with bake off and strictly now!

RedToothBrush · 21/08/2016 19:18

Kate Richardson-Walsh has been selected to be Team GB's flag bearer for the Closing Ceremony.

(She's the captain of the women's hockey team, if like me, you didn't know who she is).

NoahVale · 21/08/2016 19:25

Thanks again Red Grin

AlecTrevelyan006 · 21/08/2016 20:14

Joyce was robbed - judging in the boxing has been very dodgy.

Been an amazing Games though.

Well done Team GB.
