I'm loving Brief Encounters, the music is brilliant woof. I particularly remember wearing those terrible clothes and I had that curled rolled back flick hair thing going on!!

Ditto Rich I used to look exactly dress just like Dawn - leg warmers, ra-ra skirts, boiler suits, shoulder pads, pixie boots - happy days!

Richtea19 · 26/07/2016 20:14

My mum used to make my ra ra skirts as she wouldn't pay the prices in C&A!! Boiler suits always in fuchsia pink or turquoise Confused shocking!

Ooh don't forget the neckerchief and frilly shirts with knickerbockers - can't wait for all that to come back into fashion.

PS I loved C&A and Chelsea Girl, Rich - they were the height of sophisticated fashion when you only had a fiver from your paper round to spend on a whole new ensemble Confused

I think my entire wardrobe was c&a! Well except from my brothers hand me downs! Oh yes my mum was great at make do and mend Shock

My mum made most of my clothes. She must have mistaken it for the 1880s because she liked to make me wear little pinafores, like this.

I remember turning up to boarding school with a long tartan skirt and a droopy blouse ensemble that made me look like a Princess Di wannabe. I was bullied like hell.

Ooh pix that's harsh.

I did go through a Dexys Midnight Runners stage of dungarees, scarves and all things Huckleberry Finn, before maturity into a working woman and embracing the Dynasty shoulder-padded power suit made of polyester. What a prat I must've looked Blush

My brother and I wore matching smocks. My mum hand smocked them herself. She also spun her own wool. It's a miracle made it to the 80s.

Morning everyone

I really wanted to get on here past few days but I'm going through a nightmare with the kids being off school. They're all arguing over the littlest things including a spoon! (Literally its just a spoon kids!) Envy Its a good job I started the boys off at private nursery for the hols yesterday. They'll go two days a week.

Took DD out all day yesterday as we didn't have the boys. So I was exhausted and went to bed early.

Pix sorry to hear your MIL's not so well at the moment. Also what did you think of the OL season finale?

I'd like to say the arguments get better as they get older kel ... but I'd be lying Confused

Purgatory that is the six-monthly visit to Sports World is finally over, thank the Gods. I loathe that shop and would rather stick pins in my eyes than give them my money. But alas Mike Ashley has bought out virtually the entire competition with profits made by only employing one 16-year-old on minimum zero-hours wage who hides out in the stock room whenever a customer looks likely to need assistance, and as it's the only place left to buy trainers/football boots/sports kit round here, we have to suck it up. So off we toddle, put up with the lack of service, tolerate the fact they never have the size you need and end up paying twice as much for the only pair in the entire stockroom that fit. I have a good rant about how I'm never setting foot in there ever again before we trot back six months later to repeat the process. Like I said - purgatory Angry

kelly it is so hard when they flight the whole time, it doesn't get easier when they aw older but at least you can leave them to fight between themselves and not get so involved!

Sports Direct, ahhhh ! The hottest shop ever, they put rails of clothes in every walk way to make it harder to get around. The cash till is always at the furthest end of the store. Every time we go I vow never to go again. Last time I did a massive, online order, you have to pay delivery charge and then they give you a voucher back to spend in store, as if!!!

MaddieMoo82 · 27/07/2016 20:05

Gahhh! I hate sports direct woof but unfortunately MrMads loves it and regularly spends a lot of cash on 'important football gear' (his words). He came home on Saturday with matching his and minimads football kits. DSs is 18-24 months and the cost was ridiculous Shock also he insists on buying those huge bags for life everytime, we've got bloody millions of the things Angry grrrr. Rant over!!

Ha! I feel vindicated in my loathing of that shop now - thanks mads and Rich . Not only the overpriced bags for life either, mads - I was asked today to buy the fitness magazine featuring Usain Bolt for 50p. Do I look like I want to part with another 50p when I've just been ripped off for £140 on cheap imitation stuff I can never return for a refund?? And the last time I ran anywhere was in 1988 FFS, so probably not a good idea that fitness magazine, love Angry

Evening everyone. Sports World isn't a shop I frequent fortunately and from your comments, I'm very glad to keep away.

Been a strange day at work. We had a person leaving (to start up a dog grooming business). I've done the leaving present and it went down well so was pleased about that but she's been in the company a long time and it all felt a bit sad after she left. We picked through the remains of her desk - I think we're like vultures. I trotted out my usual story at this time of my first job where the personnel manager (you can tell how long ago it was that it was personnel and not HR) was sacked and marched off site. The girl I worked with, who had worked there for a good few years, rooted through the drawers etc and stripped it bare - even an old cardigan he had hanging behind the chair she took and got her mother to unravel it and re-knit it!

Yesterday evening, I went back to do some work in the garden of my elderly friend. I hadn't been able to make up my mind whether to offer or not after my most recent visit last week as her daughter lives less than a mile away and seems to do b*gger all. In the end, I decided it was a nice thing to do and may even give her daughter an attack of conscience. I managed not to ask last night just what exactly does her daughter do to help out. I think my elderly friend was grateful - in fact I'm sure she was - but she does not appear to be able to show gratitude with much grace. Her front garden was in a bit of a mess and it could definitely do with a second going over but I have next to no time available till after my holiday. What excuse her daughter gives for never really helping out I have no idea.
