My DS said errr Mum, how can you like someone who rolls up his trousers? I told him it weren't his ankles i's was looking at, son Grin

cjwoofwoof · 27/08/2016 13:19

...and then we had a very deep and meaningful conversation about objectifying beautiful people with lustful thoughts and lowering the tone of thespian admiration to the size of Aidan's abs etc, before I told DS to leave the room and blutac his Jennifer Lawrence poster on his bedroom wall whilst I mopped up all the saliva I'd dribbled over the kitchen worktop...

Richtea19 · 27/08/2016 18:13

According to the "press" AT gets his kit off a bit more in the series.. Yippee do!

Crisis tonight, friends over for dinner, prepped the martinis, made a pudding and even remembered to get the cheese out the fridge, however forget to get the lamb cutlets out the freezer! The microwave is seeing proper action, rather than heating a wheat bag or a jacket spud. Thank god for martinis!
Phew!

Serious......sternface! (that's two)

Just one small technical point - is stubble really permitted?

Rhubarb01 · 27/08/2016 20:18

Actually, perhaps we should have a competition for the best thought bubble.

Suggestion:

'You want me to get the paddling pool out again?'

pixieg1rl · 27/08/2016 20:50

What do you mean logistics have lost my shipment of hair wax?

MaddieMoo82 · 27/08/2016 21:16

'Don't go to the mountains today you say..... Why? Oh right yes a load of mumsnetters lurking with a paddling pool and a little white towel. Thanks for the heads up'

Evening all. RL is a bit ridiculous at the mo so haven't had chance to post but did manage to have a lovely lunch with pix and co. Cheers pix and sorry I had a massive rant about postman pat.. He does make me angry!! Blush

Cheers rich for the reminder about poldark. He's definately saved to the planner now. Enjoy your dinner party, sounds lovely.

kuiakaituhi · 27/08/2016 21:36

Thought bubble effort..."What do you mean the Rosabaya's out of stock?"

pixieg1rl · 27/08/2016 21:58

Ahh, mads it was lovely to see you. I totally understand the postman pat rant, the man is an incompetent twat. Have you read this?

hurrahforgin.com/2013/11/21/an-open-letter-to-postman-pat/

We're in our very nice holiday home. Of course this being bank holiday weekend I've come down with cystitis, so that's fun.

Ilovelblue · 27/08/2016 22:31

Evening all. First chance I've had to check in here since early morning. Wow, that photo of CJ takes your breath away. It should carry a health warning!

I know what you all mean about being a little cynical about the new series. Will we really get the coverage of CJ we are hoping for? I am trying to be optimistic and thinking of the link ice (I think it was) posted earlier in the week where there was a photo of CJ in his No 1s and CJ, MK and the two men in her love triangle were all given little potted biographies. If CJ wasn't going to have a biggish part, would he have been given a write up in the who's who do we think?

Lovely for maddie and pixie to meet up! You're doing the rounds this week pixie?

Rhu your comment about being clean shaven in the army makes me think back to being in France a couple of weeks ago when at least two of the soldiers guarding the Eurostar terminal had bushy beards. I recall asking my friend if our armed forces had to be clean shaven. I was convinced they had to be; she seemed to think that as we'd seen Prince Harry with a beard, they don't have to be clean shaven. I think she reads too many OK! magazines.....

Been given loads and loads of plums so thinking of making some plum chutney tomorrow. The weather forecast is rubbish as well so it looks as if I'll be confined indoors anyway.

icemistOBE · 27/08/2016 22:50

Speech bubble 'what do you mean the CJ Collective have breeched the compound!'

Speech bubble:

"She's going to rub what in my face?"

cjwoofwoof · 27/08/2016 23:20

Speech bubble:

"I don't care what she says, iLove's not boiling my plums tomorrow"

pixieg1rl · 28/08/2016 09:02

I know ilove, I feel like a minor Royal touring the country and meeting up with people. MrP is taking it all in his stride, bless him.

icemistOBE · 28/08/2016 10:01

Aww, we will have to meet up again ilove maybe richtea will be our way again

Not long now to go, I'm trying hard not to have too high expectations so I'm not disappointed. I'm sure TG has wrote a brilliant script and won't let us down.

ice- I'm working on a trip! We are looking at Manchester Uni with DS on sat 1st Oct, and I'm trying to convince DH to stay overnight as such a long drive in one day! I'm also trying to get tickets for a match on the Sunday, but that's proving to be tricky. I'll keep you posted.

Ilovelblue · 28/08/2016 10:47

Ooooh Rich that would be great. I'll keep the Sunday free just in case. I take it Mr R has decided we may be mad but relatively harmless then??

Ilovelblue · 28/08/2016 10:48

Are we going to watch the OG prequel by the way? Have we all managed to find it?

Rhubarb01 · 28/08/2016 11:57

Morning

I haven't got anything listed on my schedule yet ilove but I'm guessing they'll probably run a trailer for the show on BBC1 and then announce you can watch a prequel on the red button and/or it'll be on iplayer or the webpage so I expect I'll watch when I can find it available. I wonder if they'll also do a shortened catch up thing about the previous series as they did with that short version of Molly's first story?

I'm feeling slightly virtuous now because I've done the horrible job of clearing out and cleaning my fridge - it's amazing what you can find tucked away in there I just wish DH hadn't thought it a good idea to feed the dog a past its best pepperami sausage he found in there - yuk! We will all be sorry later I'm sure.

We have a small apple tree in our garden with lots of small ripe apples and as the kids are not apple eaters apart from crumble or pie - why? - and it's a cross between an eater and cooker I am going to make an apple and cinammon cake later - how exciting! What with ilove's plums this is getting like a cross between Mrs Beeton and the Diary of an Edwardian Lady.

Ooh and pix I caught up with the ominbus edition of the archers this morning so now all ready for next week.

Goodness it's all go at Rhubarb Towers! Hope you have a good day everyone.

Rhubarb01 · 28/08/2016 11:58

P.S. anyone likely to be watching the Queen Victoria thing tonight? It's about the only thing on the schedule that looks new this weekend.

icemistOBE · 28/08/2016 14:01

Yay! Richtea I will keep weekend free.

Going to watch Victoria tonight, looks good and to be honest I know very little about her

cjwoofwoof · 28/08/2016 15:58

Rhu my plumber once found an ancient still-wrapped cobwebby dusty minging mini pepperami under my washing machine when he pulled it out. Considering it was the first time in five years the machine was moved and it's in my utility room well away from any food cupboards/the fridge, to this day I haven't a clue how it got there, bleeeechhh.

Ditto to the cooking lark - just made and iced two cakes for afternoon tea for 15 coming round later to celebrate DSs GCSEs results. Come to think of it, I do now have the skin complexion/neck of Mary Berry but alas not her baking skills. Luckily the icing has covered the uneven and burnt bits Blush

I'll be watching Victoria tonight - love all that historical drama. It'll be on record next week though as Poldark is coming back to me, finally...I've missed that scar-faced curly permed six-packed scything God.

Btw, Nashville first Ep was blimmin brilliant - like its never been away. Thank God Deacon survived his transplant and is immediately back to normal and totally sober Hmm

icemistOBE · 28/08/2016 20:17

Just realised the new versions of some BBC comedies is on tonight at 9pm, so have decided to watch those and record Victoria.

Just gone into kitchen and noticed hubby has fallen asleep in the garden GrinConfusedHmmShock

Rhu and woof you put me to shame because after all my talk of chutney making, the weather turned out far better than forecast so I carried on in the garden as I am trying to renovate a bed which is rather overgrown and it's taken me half the day to dig the old stuff out. I will have to do the chutney tomorrow otherwise the plums are likely to go mouldy.

Rich I know nothing at all about football but I do work with a large number of men who support Manchester United. Would you like me to ask around about the likelihood of spare tickets? I haven't a clue how it works. PM me if you want me to investigate.

I was just thinking before about the likelihood of some of the OG stars appearing with Graham Norton. I know we've joked about it in the past but it could well become reality. I can just imagine GN drooling over BA on his sofa (whilst we simultaneously drool on our sofas no doubt).
