That's me with the trolley - gosh pix there's no need for all the stalking for fashion tips - just ask ilove for a rummage through her wardrobe, that's what we did Grin

Rhubarb01 · 11/08/2016 09:16

Morning. A very rare day off here but lots to do so naturally I'm on here!

Thanks for the link pix. I'm not particularly near to Worcester, unfortunately, or not near enough for a random trip to the cathedral not to raise a lot of eyebrows in my house. They might fear my sanity more than they already do.

Looking at that picture of the ladies outside Tesco's reminds me of those clips they show on the news when they are talking about the nation's health and show street scenes in which they have picked out larger people but obscure their heads so we can only see the bodies. I always think it's really cheeky and feel bad for anyone who's shown - imagine if you recognised yourself and realised you were were being held up as a bad example? How mortifying.

As for BA's roles, well as much as that film sounds 'strange' I suppose it's a case of weighing up what sort of actor you want to be - one who regularly works and does a variety of stuff that interests you or a 'star' who may get typecast with all the rubbish that goes with that. I'm not qualified to comment on acting ability apart from saying I think he fits the role of an army officer very well - it certainly convinced us. The little I've seen in Fleabag made me laugh and I do recall him being in Lark Rise to Candleford and thinking he seemed like a nice young lad in what was pre 9pm family viewing so I guess that's not bad. I'm not sure if serious actors really do crave world wide recognition. I've always felt it was better to be successful than famous. As much as being James Bond must be amazing for a while - what do you do afterwards?

OK that's my philosophical thought for the day. Back to the mundane.

By the way, Pix, I've sort of started listening to the Archers when I can. Haven't got a clue what is going on or who is really who but I strangely like it.

cjwoofwoof · 11/08/2016 11:17

Youre right Rhu - orph has made a tidy living since 1998 posing as the pixelated "fat and unhealthy side of Britain" but as there's now so many people like her, the gigs are drying up, much like her face. Grin

Personally, I don't think BA will be bothering the Lawrence Olivier Awards anytime soon, but surely a few million in the bank from a Hollywood blockbuster/popular TV show would then allow you to pursue your luvvy aspirations later? Sir Kenneth Branagh seems to manage - Harry Potter to pay the bills then directing Macbeth in Mandarin wearing loincloths at the Old Vic Bike Shed. Success and fame

pixieg1rl · 11/08/2016 12:07

You want to watch that Archers thing rhu, it starts with a bit of interest in a major storyline and before you know it you find yourself caring whether Bert Fry's runner beans are going to win first prize in the village show or be beaten by Neville Booth.

Where are you orph? Are you trapped in the sports equipment cupboard permanently now?

kuiakaituhi · 11/08/2016 12:58

Have just booked some air tickets to London for the week before Christmas. Wouldn't miss the carol service for quids!!

And I think BA was an absolutely stunning Army officer. That's why i still write about him!!

kuiakaituhi · 11/08/2016 14:22

Is anyone else watching the rowing? It's one in the morning here and NZ has lots of finals coming up. I live very close to Lake Karapiro where our guys train and often watch them out on the water early in the morning.
I think the rowing girls have beautiful lithe bodies and the fellas are mostly ultra hot.

I feel really anxious for them especially after our Rugby 7s disaster.
Poor old Sonny Bill wrecked his Achilles in the first match. Still no excuse, your English guys were better on the day and fancy being beaten by the

kuiakaituhi · 11/08/2016 14:23

Japanese!

Rhubarb01 · 11/08/2016 14:37

Hi Kuia. Yes I am watching the rowing. I understand our men's pair haven't got a hope against the NZ pair - well that's what the BBC are saying.

Rhubarb01 · 11/08/2016 14:51

By the way Kuia travelling to London really is above and beyond!

Looks like the BBC were right - they're just getting excited about who can win the silver!

Ilovelblue · 11/08/2016 14:51

Afternoon. I rang French Travel Service today who are adamant we won't be stranded here with the proposed strike at the weekend. It's not such great weather again so we've spent the day shopping which has been nice but one day of it is enough really. Thank goodness there are no luggage restrictions on Eurostar as we have bought quite a bit. Need to get out and about tomorrow. We're close to the Belgian border so thinking of nipping over. At least there's no need to change currency as you had to in the good old days!

If orph is still in the gym cupboard, has Kelly's twins hidden her laptop?

Rhubarb01 · 11/08/2016 14:53

Oh dear looks like another heroic 4th place. We've had quite a lot of those.

Think I'd better go and do the mundane stuff now - clean the bathroom ugh!

Ilovelblue · 11/08/2016 14:58

Oh Rhu we stopped at the M6 toll road services on Monday and it was intriguing to watch quite a number of overweight folk stuffing their faces with the most unhealthy food you could think of. You could have made a TV documentary out of some of the candidates quite easily.

icemistOBE · 11/08/2016 19:30

Evening all, been a crappy 24 hrs. Mum has a panic attack having her radiotherapy and had decided to stop having the radiotherapy. She spoke up Drs today and they convinced her to continue, with the help of a Valium tablet. She's now sticking with it(half way now) and will have a Xanax before each session.

Ilovelblue · 11/08/2016 20:45

Such a worry for you ice and being too far away as well. Glad she's going to carry on. Is it this weekend you're going over to see her? You'll feel better yourself when you get back home.

icemistOBE · 11/08/2016 21:36

Thanks, next weekend (20th) Will be great to see her.

pixieg1rl · 11/08/2016 21:56

Glad to hear the doctors have persuaded your mum to keep on with the treatment ice.

Richtea19 · 11/08/2016 22:20

ice how difficult for you. Your mum must ha e so many emotions going through her, thank goodness the nurses/Drs suggested the Valium which hopefully help.

Last day of holiday :( back to washing and normal stuff

MaddieMoo82 · 11/08/2016 22:42

Evening all.
Glad your mum is continuing with treatment ice and so glad you are getting to go and visit.
ilove hope the weather gets better and the impending strikes aren't putting a dampener of your holiday.

RL is well rubbish at the moment. Need to drift into a nice CJ combat glad dream tonight!

moojangles · 11/08/2016 23:01

ice, pleased to hear that your Mum is continuing treatment and getting extra support and that you are going to visit

icemistOBE · 12/08/2016 06:23

Morning

Ilove just been in news about Eurostar strikes they said only 4% of trains will be affected, mainly the ones that go to Disneyland and Brussels Smile

Not had chance yet to watch Fleabag from yesterday. Hoping to get to watch it tonight. Olympics kept distracting me

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 12/08/2016 07:21

Thanks ice. I was on the Eurostar website just now and there are 4 trains cancelled for Sunday, not ours fortunately, so that makes me feel better. The weather has settled down too. We are hopping over the border into Belgium today.

I haven't tried Fleabag this week either. My friend is a bit prudish and although she's a CJ fan, am not convinced she would appreciate Arsehole Man.

Berlin585 · 12/08/2016 08:19

Sorry not had a chance to have a proper read through.

ice how worrying for you , but pleased to see your mum has been given other options so she can continue her treatment.

I've seen a couple of trailers for all the new programmes starting shortly. Still no date for OG. I think that one of us was a Tuesday night , GBBO weds and some other drama thurs. Fingers crossed we get OG news soon.
