I really like Brienne which probably means she will die soon enough

There have to be some big losses in the Battle and it seems unlikely that it will be Jon or Sansa. Rickon's probably one of the burning bodies. Davos, Tormund, Brienne and Pod if they make it back in time, all have a good chance of not lasting the episode. Lyanna Mormont is there too, wouldn't be a surprise if she died (maybe a twist where Jorah is there to save her, looking for Shireen to get the greyscale cure). Maybe even Littlefinger or Robin might die. Presumably one of Ramsay and Jon has to die, so I'm betting on Ramsay.

In the trailer for next week Davos is on his own standing next to something on the ground. I'm wondering if he has found Stannis or Shireen's remains or if he found out what Melisandre did and killed her. Could it be mel's body? It's hard to see what it is.

I assumed it is Shireen's pyre and he recognises it as one of Melisandre's pyres and works out she killed Shireen. If she's now convinced that Jon is Azor Ahai, I wonder if she'll want to do something with Rickon's burning body.

Yeah I'm thinking it probably is the pyre. Melisandre doesn't add much to the story now so she probably won't survive the next episode.
I liked that Jaime still loves Brienne. She makes him a better person. The whole "I love Cersei" speech was because that's what he needed to say in order to get Edmure to surrender so he could take the castle without bloodshed as Brienne asked him to do.
I think this series is better than 5 but the last couple of episodes haven't been as good as the first few in series 6. Still really enjoying it though!

I thought they were going to find Shireen's pyre in e8 when they arrived in the camp as they said it was where Stannis had been

I'm not sure it's been clearly stated but as regards Arya using faces such as Roose or Walda :

1. Arya is not an assassin. She has mad skills now, but she never qualified as she wouldn't kill according to the whims of The Faceless God ie for people who had bought deaths hitman style as shown with Lady Crane - Arya has no problem killing but has to have what she personally sees as a legit reason

2. Because of this - Arya cannot access the range of Faces like Jaqen H'qar can.

3. The only Faces that could be accessed are donor Faces so people like Roose and Walder are not there.

It makes so little sense to me about The Waif for surely The Waif WAS just a face all along, I think we may see her again.

Arya cut out her eyes though, or at least she fucked the face removal right up. I don't think the waif's face will be useable. I think arya put the face there in a symbolic gesture rather than for use by the faceless men.

Just before Stannis sent him away Davis gave Shireen a little toy stag. Presumably if that is her pyre he's going to find it amongst the ashes and twig what has happened. He was already very concerned for Shireen before he left, henice him trying to get her away from Stannis and Mel.

As soon as he finds that stag he's going to know exactly what Mel did.

Gasped yeah, I get that, but I also get that we are more invested in the Starks. Looking at it from his point of view, I'd be like, ''you've already lost your family home, I'm still defending mine. In fact, why don't you come and helpme seeing as we're family''
We clearly saw that the Blackfish was ready to let Edmure hang in order to hold Riverrun, so I don't see why it's realistic for him to give it up for Sansa. From his point of view, it's stupid and selfish for Sansa to even ask, he has his own problems to deal with.

As a viewer and swing the 'bigger picture' you want them to unite their forces, but the characters obviously have their own priorities and agendas.

solomandaisy hadn't even considered Melisandre using the fires.

If the battle is the only thing they're concentrating on this week then a lot has to happen to fill the episode. I don't like Ramsays smirking face on the preview, looks like he has an ace up his sleeve, has he already disposed of him or converted him to his cause. Monday can't come soon enough

Melisandre can't die next week unless Arya makes it to Winterfell, since they're supposed to meet again.

Why are they meant to meet again, having a memory lapse on this.

Mumanddad I'm pretty sure she saw Arya when she was being Arry and looked into her eyes, said something about changing colour eyes? (Was it red eyes then brown eyes then red eyes again she said?) and said they'd meet again

This why they've fucked up a bit in my opinion with Arya, as that Melisandre thing, suggests she will be an assassin, which made perfect sense 3 series ago, to those who'd read the books, but they've gone another way, and Arya can't change faces, so this no longer make sense?

But what's still odd is how much she seemed to be a different person before being stabbed.

I'm concerned they've made a hash of this.

So, looks like it won't be all about the battle for Winterfell if Daenerys is in it.

I thought Blackfish was calling the Freys' bluff over Edmure. The Freys did say to Jaime that Edmure was their most valuable captive when they were waiting to see if the Riverrun commander would obey Edmure. I don't think they would have killed him and I believe Blackfish made the same calculation (although, to be frank, he probably wouldn't have cared that much if they had - Edmure has always been a disappointment to his family, hasn't he?).

I thought the eyes were people she'd kill, not faces she'd wear. Hopefully she's coming back to westeros to finish that list.
