Funny, when Rickon was captured, the thought of what Ramsay might do to him genuinely kept me awake that night, but since then, I've not really thought about him. Maybe because we barely know him.

Rowanhart · 14/06/2016 22:16

I think Arya and Gendry will come across each other again. And will fall in love.

SuffolkNWhat · 14/06/2016 22:23

The same actor played Moore in Wolf Hall

EverySongbirdSays · 14/06/2016 22:45

That 2 truths and a LIE!!!!!

EverySongbirdSays · 14/06/2016 22:49

Rickon is in the cast listing for next week which is no real spoiler.

I really think that this season more than ever they've struggle to give each "strand" appropriate screen time.

I mean they brought Rickon back, and what?

Nothing. He either lives next week and is briefly seen at the end of the episode reuniting with his siblings or dies, without even having a line of dialogue.

TheNorthRemembers · 14/06/2016 22:51

Suffolk You are right. Wasn't he objectionable there as well?

SolomanDaisy My mistake. They clearly introduced the 5-year gap which GRRM planned (but never did) in the books. But in the books literally no time is gone. While Dany was pregnant loads of things happened, so it was a bit all go. And Edmure was a prisoner for literally 9 months in the books, his wife was due when he was freed by Jaime.

Also they just do not care about inconsistencies. e.g. Jaime and the Blackfish must have met in the show while Jaime was held captive (no way, Brynden did not have a look), and so did Brienne and the Blackfish at Riverrun. But who can remember?! Not to mention travel times.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/06/2016 23:00

Anton Lesser is Qyburn. He's been in loads of stuff over the years. I've always loved his voice.

Middleoftheroad · 14/06/2016 23:18

Maybe LSH was brought back shortly after her death and it's only now it's going to come out in the open/able to fight Dunno, only on book two so possibly missing the point and that surely she'd see her family or defend Riverrun etc. Timewise baby Samwell is still a baby, though Edmanure said he'd been kept prisoner for years as pointed out.

The chicken comment referred to the scene where the Hound is gnawing on a bone and when asked about the food he says "nah I prefer chicken" or words to that effect.

WeDoNotSow · 14/06/2016 23:23

In terms of not much happening so far, it makes me think or his whole season is essentially placemarkkng until WoW is released...

EverySongbirdSays · 14/06/2016 23:51

I definitely agree with you Sow - LOTS of fannying around.

Ways in which the show has "moved on" from the book in terms of advancing plot from A Dance With Dragons.

Bran has left the tree/has met Benjen/Hodor is dead Sad
Jon is alive/Rickon has reappeared/Sansa has reunited with Jon
Tyrion has met Dany/Dany has bested Dothraki
Baratheons are dead
Arya has left Bravoos
Forthcoming Bastard Bowl

Known major diversions Young Griff/Quentyn Martell/Death of Myrcella/Davos and Rickon and possibly seeing as we haven't seen House Manderly or House Reed the GNC

OP posts:
EverySongbirdSays · 14/06/2016 23:56

that's such a good point Middle RE Baby Sam, the writers own timeline is all to cock. Edmure CAN'T have been there YEARS

EverySongbirdSays · 15/06/2016 01:05

OK so... This is the Red Team Review (Review, no spoilers)

He's a bit of a pissy fanboy and he critiques the episode, but most of his criticisms are right (or at least I'm with him on what he says about Hound/Blackfish and actually Dany also)

What he DOES say is that Arya knows how to and can change faces - and WILL be able to use it. Though I'm a bit Confused on that

And here is the Emergency Awesome Review :

And here is the HBO Inside the Episode with Weiss and Benioff

Middleoftheroad · 15/06/2016 06:06

Thanks Every will watch those when the household wakes!

Insomnia rules. Thinking that even though the consensus is that just as Jon's army is outnumbered Baelish (who will make it to the end of the whole series) arrives with the cavalry, that I need to consider that twisted things may happen

Ramsay may win
Jon may die or be swapped as a hostage for Rickon - even Sansa may suggest this?
Tormund Brienne or anybody we like may die
Rickon may be on Ramsay's side

Middleoftheroad · 15/06/2016 06:15

Oh and I'd be more upset if Ghost dies....

ClashCityRocker · 15/06/2016 06:55

So is it a definite we're not going to see young griff?

I do wonder if he'll turn up in some form or other - obviously the story line will need to be different from the books, as Tyrion travels with them in the books, but as the timing is all to shit, and as he is introduced after the riverrun books I still think there's a chance....although thought we would have seen them by now.

I thought they made the passage of time 'longer' because of havong so many child actors who were growing up faster than in book time. I just try not to think about it as it gives me a headache because there's so many inconsistencies

In the book I'm pretty sure Edmure's wife is still pregnant when Jaime goes to riverrun.

Middleoftheroad · 15/06/2016 07:49

While a civil war brews between several noble families in Westeros, the children of the former rulers of the land attempt to rise up to power. Meanwhile a forgotten race, bent on destruction, plans to return after thousands of years in the North.

Next week's imbd synopsis. Can book readers confirm who this race is please?

Middleoftheroad · 15/06/2016 07:51

Ignore! Wrong episode...

MaterofDragons · 15/06/2016 07:55

I assumed that was the wights on first reading but they're not forgotten. Hmmm...

MaterofDragons · 15/06/2016 07:56

Oh I got all excited Grin

SolomanDaisy · 15/06/2016 08:29

The timelines don't really match up, especially baby Sam. The only way it makes sense is if the scenes they show aren't happening concurrently, which might explain some of the time travelling. Maybe Sam is about to arrive back at the with a 5 year-old baby Sam...

Re the two truths and a lie, it's not really possible for Arya to check three names off her list any more, is it? Assuming she doesn't want to kill the hound any more then that only leaves two. Which would mean LSH must be true.

SerafinaScoresby · 15/06/2016 09:58

Couple of things to say, sorry if they've been mentioned already, haven't RTFT...

Edmure has always been a weak, sorry excuse for a person but I think I'd give in too if faced with the prospect of my baby being catapulted over the walls.

I don't think there will be Cleganebowl this season because the 'big' thing always happens in episode 9 and this one is BotB, so probably won't focus on a big fights between Cleganes.

I'm hoping the coming back to Beric and the Brotherhood means we will get to see the creation of Stoneheart and perhaps a scene with Nymeria?

I was really disappointed not to see the Blackfish's final fight, or Arya finally getting the better of the Waif, or what Drogon did to the Yunkaii fleet before dropping off Dany on the roof of the pyramid. It feels like all the good action happened off screen in this episode.

Jaime/Brienne scenes. She is too good for him but you can see she makes him want to be better than he is. Their goodbye made me well up. I thought he was gonna rat her out for a split second but then he just waved and it's like he's almost still a good person.

Mumanddadtoone · 15/06/2016 10:32

Has anyone seen this trailer for next week?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=rHlN3ur8ilg

EverySongbirdSays · 15/06/2016 11:21

The wildlings/wights children of the forest/giants sort of ARE forgotten outside of the Nights Watch they've passed into folklore and for years numbers to the Nights Watch have dwindled in a sort of why the fuck do we even need it anymore way.

That's a big point in the book, they're al in figghting among themselves too much to notice the wider threat.
