Genuine question actually. I only lasted about 15 minutes until the endless sex, ugly men and confusing "plot" got too much. This programme has been made by a French channel in English for goodness knows what kind of audience, and the BBC was dumb enough to buy it. Confused

Beatrice du Lorraine

Yes Beatrice and Fabien were definitely getting on very well Wink

This is the one I mean - Chevalier de Rohan.

I like that pic of Beatrice, she looks rather mysterious and sultry!

Ignore me!!! This link is good, explains who is who and if you scroll down it lists the fictional characters too! Beatrice is just Beatrice and not the same Beatrice as is married to chevalier, just a confusing same name

I find it quite hard to follow - the dialogue is strange like it's almost all in code.

youngestisapsycho · 06/07/2016 23:33

A nice sweaty shag tonight.... I still don't know what's going on though? Is Beatrice trying to kill the king?

TheHiphopopotamus · 07/07/2016 08:11

Yeah, I think I've gone off Louis a bit. His sweaty face during that sex scene was a bit...Confused

I'm following it a bit better now I've got s grasp on who's who, but I only had one eye on the telly last night. Think I might watch it again later.

youngestisapsycho · 07/07/2016 10:37

Yeah, I think I need to watch again... letters flying around and people in masks, I don't know what's going on!

spookyelectric · 07/07/2016 22:20

Starting to like Louis' brother Phillipe a bit more now. I'm enjoying Versailles - it's ridiculous but kind of restful and pretty to look at. I like the clear diction and simple statements (but I liked George Blagden as Athelstan in Vikings - he acts just the same in the part of Louis). I also was a keen fan of Indian Summers in the so bad it's good way - this has filled that hole.

flippinada · 08/07/2016 12:49

Yes it is Spooky. Rather fluffy but nice to look at.

Zhabr · 11/07/2016 17:50

I really like Versailles as this is my favourite period in French history. Can't get enough of Philipe and Chevalier😳

FrancesNiadova · 13/07/2016 21:18

I love it; the intrigue, the twists and turns in the plot. Great stuff!

EnidButton · 15/07/2016 12:48

What happened to this week's episode? I watch on iplayer but it's not there. Someone said it was cancelled until next week?

youngestisapsycho · 15/07/2016 13:04

It wasn't on for some reason? Back next week.

youngestisapsycho · 20/07/2016 23:46

That was a great episode.... It's all going on now!

TheHiphopopotamus · 21/07/2016 08:45

Has Beatrice killed Fabien then?

DH watched it with me this week and he couldn't tell who anyone was, man or woman Grin Great ep though.

youngestisapsycho · 21/07/2016 10:33

I was a bit confused... when all the revolution? people met in those ruins, and were being led by the woman in black, was that Beatrice with a different hairstyle? or some other woman we have already seen? I only tell them all apart by their hairstyles!!

TheHiphopopotamus · 21/07/2016 10:51

I think it was Beatrice youngest.

As usual, I'm going to have to watch it again, because I think I missed how all those people who were plotting (including Phillipe's boyfriend?) ended up in prison/being torn apart by horses Confused

youngestisapsycho · 21/07/2016 11:08

I think Fabien was tracking them all.... he had little markers on a map and knew all the people that had left to go to Paris.
I'm confused what black stuff Beatrice was chewing in her mouth, managed to have sex with Fabien and then came back and vomited up loads of black stuff. How did it affect Fabien and not her??

NotQuitePerfect · 21/07/2016 11:59

Youngest I think it was charcoal - I saw them doing this once in The Borgias (love a good historical drama me!). Not sure what its properties are but Lucrezia started stuffing it down her father's throat when he'd ingested poison - so it must have some kind of anti-toxic effect?

EnidButton · 21/07/2016 14:46

Have I missed an episode? Confused I've no idea what black stuff you're all talking about. I was half asleep when I watched but it was episode 7, is that right?

EnidButton · 21/07/2016 14:48

Maybe I fell asleep...Blush I feel like you all watched a different episode to me.

EnidButton · 21/07/2016 14:49

Oh! BlushBlush Just looked at I'd paused it 20 minutes in. So yes I did fall asleep. Ahem.

jennasmith951 · 21/07/2016 16:31

Complete shit. Smile

Flumplet · 21/07/2016 16:53

I absolutely bloody love it! even though i have no clue what's happening most of the time for instance, why was Louis' face bleeding a few episodes ago? Also was it on last week as i seem to have missed an episode? I'm a big Philippe fan Grin

Flumplet · 21/07/2016 16:54

Also, DH is taking me to the Palace of Versailles for our wedding anniversary next month. Followed by a day or 2 in Paris and taking ds to euro disney for the day too. Cant wait!
