Yes, and seeing Jamie as kingslayer...seems emphasised too.

I've read the books Sgoin but it's funny you should say that.

I thought when Benjen returned that if I hadn't read the books I'd be like 'who the hells that? Some random uncle of Bran?' Certainly wouldn't remember him for the two or three episodes he was in way back at the beginning.

So glad Benjen's back! I loved how Meera said sorry and then tried to cover Bran with her body to protect him as the wights came running. I think she's more interesting than Arya at the moment.

Go Mother of Dragons! (again)

Glitteryfrog · 30/05/2016 20:36

Yup - non book reader. Who is that?!
I thought he might be a sport bought to life/summoned by Bran.
Sort of a better Harry Potter Petronus ?

NeedACleverNN · 30/05/2016 20:39

Almost time so place marking

EverySongbirdSays · 30/05/2016 20:40

Ned's younger brother, part of Jon's inspiration for joining the Watch.

But people do remember Benjen surely as quite recently it was what Ollie used to lure Jon to his death?

Sgoinneal I'm only on book one, but still go on forums and know about Lady Stoneheart etc. However I did need a Coldhands explanation on here last week (thanks to all who cleared that up) and I do wish I had read them all, especially when I read snippets on here - like the creature? Who transports Benjen (maybe i made that up, but if not tell me more). But my DP watches it (with casual interest) and doesn't have a clue who's who - I had to remind him who Catelyn was. ..

MaterofDragons · 30/05/2016 20:41

I haven't read the books but for some reason remember Benjen from the very first episode. Strange as I can barely remember my name some days...

ILikeToClean · 30/05/2016 20:55

Saga thanks for that link - I was really hoping there was a way to slow mo all those images! The mad King actor looks familiar - any ideas who it is?

I too remembered Benjen without reading the books - but wanted him to explain where he's been and why he didn't just return to the Wall? Because the three eyed Raven "called" to him I suppose?

Really liked Sam's mum and sister and the way they stood up for Gilly. Mum needs to LTB though!

ClashCityRocker · 30/05/2016 21:04

I've read the books and watched it and I didn't remember that until you said! There's a lot to keep track off.

I suspect if I hadn't had read the books I wouldn't have attached much significance to using Benjen, just assumed he was a missing ranger - mind you, I didn't remember anyway so who knows!

Another thing to consider is that we're posting on a message board about it - I have certainky picked up things from on here that I wouldn't have done if I had just been a once a week watch for an hour then forget about it to next week viewer, IYSWIM. Benjen/coldhands is probably more in our consciousness as there has been a lot of speculation about his whereabouts.

I'm basing this purely on a colleague who also watches it. Every Tuesday we discuss the show. Fire Lady = Melisandre, MIni-Joffrey = Tommen Etc. I'm not convinced he'd recognise robb stark if he turned up, never mind BEnjen.

ClashCityRocker · 30/05/2016 21:10

Where's Sam going to go now though? He can't take Gilly to the citadel can he?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 30/05/2016 21:18

How cute is that baby Samwell??

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 30/05/2016 21:18

Just looking at the stills link for brans visions. We seem to have a bloody hand and a female hand in the background following a pic of young ned...

ClashCityRocker · 30/05/2016 21:22

Baby samwell is adorable, and he must be the most resilient baby ever given what he's been throuh in his short life.

Can't get all the pics to load on my iPad so will check them out tomorrow. Looking at the comments the bloody hand is thought to be neds and the female presumably his pregnant sister.

I always thought Cersei would see tommen die and then Jamie would die, leaving her utterly alone...

..and she will then rise above it, confound the prophecy and be FABULOUS.

ClashCityRocker · 30/05/2016 22:03

I think Tommen will be killed - possibly an altercation between Jaime and the high sparrow? And Cersei will blame Jaime. She'll try and stab Jaime in a mad rage, he'll backhand her with his snazzy gold hand and she'll fall out the window and ker-splat.

Just out of interest, who's next in line if Tommen does die? That's the end of the (supposed) Baratheon line isn't it? Do the bastards get a go next, or are they out of it?

NeedACleverNN · 30/05/2016 22:04

Why is the night King so desperate to kill Bran?

Do we think Bran is the only one who could kill him with no dragon glass and end all white walkers?

Cerseirys · 30/05/2016 22:06

Apparently the Lannisters, so Jaime!
