NickyEds Jaqen gave Arya a coin in Harrenhal before he changed face. After the Hound died Arya wanted to board a ship to go to the Wall to Jon. She went to a Bravosi ship, because of Syrio, but she had not enough money to pay. So she showed them the coin, and they immediately showed her respect and offered her passage to the of Black and White. She had no ide what it was, or why anyone would go there. But she had nowhere else to go. She has lost her pack.

You can see the still from the trailer with the man on the cross here. It is definitely an adult male based on the muscles.

ClashCityRocker · 10/05/2016 21:46

Oh yes, I forgot about Osha and Rickon heading off to the Umbers.

Nicky last night dh decided he wanted to watch it with me.

I missed most of the first ten minutes trying to explain about Jon and the night watch and the wildings and melisandre.

Then I told him to go away. 'Twas a much more enjoyable experience after that.

EverySongbirdSays · 10/05/2016 22:09

Feel free to correct me fellow posters if any of this is wrong.

Arya escapes Kings Landing for the Wall with Hot Pie and Gendry
She saves Jaqen H'qar's life. He kills 3 people for her in Season 2 and gives her the coin.
Hot Pie gets job in a pub.
Gendry in the show gets kidnapped by Melisandre and was last seen rowing after Davos lets him go.
Book Gendry joins the Brotherhood Without Banners - they won't let Arya join.
Whilst she is off having a strop about it. The Hound kidnaps her intending to sell her to Robb for a price and possibly join Team Stark.
In the book they arrive right at the end of The Red Wedding, I remember reading it excited for the reunion Sad
I can't remember how The Hound is injured but it's not by Brienne, he begs for death and she refuses, by this time she is alone and nowhere near The Wall.
She looks at the coin in her hand and decides to follow Jaqen

I want it to be Ramsey on a burning cross, that would be a great ending. I wonder if it'll be someone really unexpected who kills him in the end though, like Osha.

NickyEds · 10/05/2016 22:29

Dp has watched it all Clash! He's just never learned any of the characters so every episode it's "who's that?"!

Thank you, I was worried Arya was on a specific mission and I'd missed it.

NickyEds · 10/05/2016 22:36

So Arya know Robb is dead and Jon is at the wall. Does she think Bran and Rickon are dead? I always imagine her up for a fight, even if alone so always plotting her family's returnot which is why I thought she was on some sort of misson

EverySongbirdSays · 10/05/2016 23:12

Nicky I'll try and do you a breakdown of who knows what about what but it's different book to show so might not be entirely accurate... Smile

Jon : knows Robb and Cat are dead, knows Sansa is alive (and in the books knows Bran is alive), presumes Arya dead and presumes Bran/Rickon dead (series)

Sansa : knows Robb and Cat are dead, believed Bran, Rickon, Arya dead (now knows they're all alive) knew Jon was alive. In Books still believes her younger siblings dead

Arya : knows Robb and Cat are dead, believes Bran and Rickon are dead, thinks Sansa is married to Joffrey, doesn't know he's dead. Knows Jon's alive.

Bran : doesn't know Robb and Cat are dead (at least not in the books) believes Arya and Sansa are at Kings Landing. Thinks Rickon is on Skagos (books) with the Umbers (show) knows Jon is alive

Rickon : pretty much the same as Bran, though in the show it's obvious he must "know" that most of his family are dead. And of course that Bran is North of the Wall.

RE : Arya's mission

After she joined the House Of Black And White and started training to be an assassin she was tasked with being a fish seller "Cat of the Canals" and spying on a piece of work who was effectively a loan shark, who she then had to kill. During this she spotted Meryn Trant who was on her Kill List and went off script and just offed him of her own volition, which is why they turned her blind as punishment as "girl was not no-one" so Arya is basically being tasked with various missions by The Faceless God - self appointed assassins.

Why wouldnt young Ned have a Yorkshire accent? Hes from Hull afterall.

BuzzLightyearsHoneyBun · 11/05/2016 06:01

Will Gendry make a return? His story line just seems to have been left hanging

gingercat12 · 11/05/2016 07:27

Buzz He is not the only one. Where is Robb's will?

Middleoftheroad · 11/05/2016 07:43

Clash my DH has dipped in and out of the show and sat watching without a clue as to what's going on. I asked if he wanted back stories but he said he is just happy to watch as it comes. How you dip in and out of this and don't re-watch I'll never know! Love to watch this with a fellow fan Smile

Trills · 11/05/2016 08:05

Do we think that Robb has a will? I don't imagine he does - I expect he didn't think he'd die.

Even if he did, wills require there to be laws in place and reliable people enforcing them.

gingercat12 · 11/05/2016 08:33

Trills Robb was arguing with Cat over his will, as he disinherited Sansa (now Lannister) and thought Bran and Rickon were dead, so in the will he legitimised Jon and made him his heir. Cat was not pleased to say the least.

Bohemond · 11/05/2016 09:20

Whatever the accent I think young Ned would make a great Jamie Vardy in the film about Leicester City. Let's hope he is as handy with his feet as he is with a sword.

And, for those that watch Thronecast - that sword bloke has the best job in the world!

Bohemond · 11/05/2016 09:21

I have also been wondering about Gendry - he is a Baratheon and also makes great swords. Think he could be pivotal.

NickyEds · 11/05/2016 09:27

I think Genrdy has to come back because surely he is the "real" next in blood line to the Iron throne??? Roberts kids are all really jaime's, his bastards (except Gendry) were murdered, his brothers are now dead and Melisandre burned his neice, leaving Gendry???
I think Robb's will would make Jon king of the north but without the Karstarks or Freys or Tullys he couldn't take it. Where is the Tully uncle again? Or the new Lord of the Eyrie? Did Little finger send him away?

weirdsister · 11/05/2016 09:58

What will happen with Sansa and Tyrion's marriage? Presuming that Ramsey hasn't long left and he will come to a gruesome end soon. Will she be free to marry again? Wasn't she also 'engaged' to the Eyrie kid? (poor Sansa!)

I want Gendry to come back and take Arya back to her family. They were great together.
Although...what if Gendry is the assassin job to test her no-oneness?! Shock

maggiso · 11/05/2016 10:39

It might be that Sansa thinks Tyrion is dead - as he has vanished after being sentenced to death. I don't know how fast news travels in Westeross.
Arya's early training was on how to lie convincingly - (surly a dangerous training for someone expected to be obedient) so perhaps she will eventually use that skill to evade Jaquen and the waif and return to Westeross. Her story is difficult to predict as it is so bizarre.

EverySongbirdSays · 11/05/2016 11:54

We've gone through Sansa's marriages on both previous threads but basically there are solid reasons why either could be termed invalid and I think she will going forward use Lady Sansa Stark, Lady Sansa Bolton or Lady Sansa Lannister depending on which is the most politically advantageous in any given situation.

More speculation here in the Radio Times. Includes what may or may not be some spoilers gleaned from casting calls.

PreviouslyMal · 11/05/2016 13:29

Every - Jon definitely thinks Bran and Rickon are alive (show). Sam told him Bran was going north of the wall.

PreviouslyMal · 11/05/2016 13:36

Arya was on her way to Castle Black with Yoren of the Night's watch, they were attacked by Lannister soldiers after Gendry, she, hot pie and Gen dry escaped and were taken to the Brotherhood without banners, Arya ran off after seeing the Hound defeat Beric ( because they freed him) then the Hound got her and took her to The twins ( red wedding) then they went to the Eerie but Aunt Lysa had " jumped" out of the moon door ( thus missing Sansa) then Brienne found them / "killed" the Hound and Arya went to Bravos. Phew.

JeepersMcoy · 11/05/2016 18:45

Arya absolutely knew what the coin was and went to Bravos to be trained as a kick arse assassin after witnessing the red wedding and then leaving the hound to die. I am assuming that she will be sent on a mission to off one of the main players at some point, but it is anyone's guess who. I love her storyline and think she is awesome :o

I keep forgetting about gendry and then suddenly remembering and wondering where he will fit in it all. Confused

Sansa's marriage to tyrion was never consummated so doesn't count and I am rather assuming that Ramsey will be dead pretty soon, which should solve that problem.

EverySongbirdSays · 11/05/2016 19:36

Mal it's the other way round then, he doesn't know in the book. Hard to get everything right!
