The thing is. The Sons Of The Harpy is a Meeren thing and Missandei is a slave from Astapor who would never have heard of them.

She's only 11 in the book.

Westley I have been listening to the show only podcasts after your recommendation, they are pretty long but really interesting and keep me going when I'm blitzing the house so thanks for putting me on to them. Smile

BonerSibary · 13/05/2016 16:57

Does seem a bit bizarre that two non-Mereen natives, former slaves, would feel so strongly about protecting traditional Mereeni/Mereenean/Merenese(?!) slaveowning practices.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 13/05/2016 18:04

True - but there's a lot of money sloshing round from the three other slaveowning cities, as we learned last week. Missande might want some money.

I don't think Grey Worm would be in on it. He'd be Missande's helpless dupe.

rockabillyruby82 · 13/05/2016 18:11

I think I need that book! Actually loving the season so far, hated most of 5!

TheNorthRemembers · 13/05/2016 19:43

I can't remember if they had the House of the Undying prophecies about Dany in the show. Someone will betray her for money, no?

I looked it up: ". . . three treasons will you know . . . once for blood and once for gold and once for love . . . "

I do not know what Jorah counts as.

werenotreallyhere · 13/05/2016 20:14

Jorah is the gold surely?

Cerseirys · 13/05/2016 20:41

I thought he was the love?

JonSnowsBeardClippings · 13/05/2016 20:49

He didn't betray her for love, he betrayed her for pay/position/pardon I think. Then he started to love her after

TheNorthRemembers · 13/05/2016 22:35

You are right.

Tyrion will probably betray her for blood / love for Jaime I think. Even in the book.

If Missandei betrays her it might be something to do with her love for Grey Worm.

Littlefinger would betray her at the drop of his hat...

theredlion · 14/05/2016 00:14

My take on the endgame has always been that there must be three surviving Targaryens, even if they don't know who they are themselves yet as there are three dragons.

Fire dragons is the only thing that can kill the Whitewalkers and I think that ultimately the Whitewalkers pose the biggest threat to just about everything.

So those who ride the dragons have the fire and the access to the ultimate power.
One surely has to be Danerys, Jon could be another certainly if R+L=J is true. But that leaves one other and that could be anyone.

Alisvolatpropiis · 14/05/2016 00:19

World of Ice and Fire is fantastic. Really beautifully illustrated.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 14/05/2016 05:33

Well Young Griff is the third Targaryan in the book, right?

But in the show, it has to be Tyrion, right?

QueenOfThorns · 14/05/2016 06:18

There's also the idea that Jon has a twin, but I'm not entirely convinced about that one!

theredlion · 14/05/2016 07:29

That's what I thought Westley about Young Griff in the books and Tyrion in the TV show. Certainly, Tyrion was getting on well with the dragons when he released them from their chains but this series I'm beginning to wonder whether it will be someone else.

Ultimately I think the remaining Starks - I think Arya and Bran will survive, I hope Sansa and Rickon do - will be given land and titles. Winterfell would be good for Sansa and her husband and could also hold Bran with his entourage.
Arya will be a warrior and I don't know about Rickon.

I don't think the Lannisters will survive, the Baratheons with the exception of Gendry have already died out and the Boltons seem done for too.

I'm not sure about Margeary and I don't really care about Dorne.

ClashCityRocker · 14/05/2016 08:29

I think if Bran survives, he will be King Jon's hand.

I'm a little worried that although L+R=J theory was GRRM's original intention (and that's a big assumption, I know) because everyone's pretty much guessed it the show is going to go completely in another direction which won't even make sense.

I thought the final showdown would be the wights vs the rest of westeros - so it gets to the point where it doesn't even matter who's a king or a Lord of wherever and it ends up total anarchy until Dany gets her fecking act together turns up with three dragons.

Cerseirys · 14/05/2016 08:45

There's also the idea that Jon has a twin, but I'm not entirely convinced about that one!

Meera Reed?

NickyEds · 14/05/2016 09:13

I think that after Nedd Stark enters the tower of joy he finds his sister giving birth to twins and he passes one off as his bastard, Jon and howlwnd reed who was with him takes the other, Meera.

NickyEds · 14/05/2016 09:19

And that's why that fella with Bran wouldn't let him follow Ned.

TheNorthRemembers · 14/05/2016 10:11

There are lots of people with Targ ancestors in the book who can ride dragons: all the Baratheon, Martells, Brienne, Sweetrobin, Velaryons - just off the top of my head.

QueenOfThorns · 14/05/2016 16:03

I just don't see the point of twins. So they can marry each other?

And I think that Tyrion would be King Jon's hand. But Bran won't be turning into a tree thing!

Trills · 14/05/2016 17:40

I just don't see the point of twins. So they can marry each other?

I would love to see that posted on any other MN thread! :o

TheNorthRemembers · 14/05/2016 18:01

That is a good one Grin

QueenOfThorns · 14/05/2016 18:57

Yes, taken out of context, that sounds very wrong (not that I'm saying that I think it's right, but I guess it's normal for Targs) Grin

Anyway, maybe Meera Reed is Ashara Dayne's daughter. Did Howland Reed go with Ned to take the sword back? I'm not sure who the father would be, though.

EverySongbirdSays · 14/05/2016 22:58

World Of Ice And Fire arrived today haven't had a good look yet though
