bringthehunda You made me laugh out loud in the office. Naughty girl!

I understand that Jon and Dany would look great together, but it would be such a cliché. We are nearly at the end and they are not even on the same continent. If they shack up, it will be sort of forced. With the original planned 5 year gap between the books, it could have worked.
GRRM specifically showed us that auntie-nephew marriages are ok, and that a couple can rule together.

The Erye is full of distant heirs and men with big egos, but I think the Royces will be somehow key. They turn up in strange places in all the books and related to the Starks as well.

We left Riverrun so long ago that I cannot remember what happened on the show (and I have seen those episodes, doh!). But it is safe to say that Edmure is a hostage of the Freys and has an heir. Riverrun is ruled by the castellan, the Blackfish. Hopefully we'll see Jaime lifting the siege and the upcoming Lannister - Frey wedding. People speculate that the Brotherhood without Banners is back and we know we'll see the broken man speech, which would mean that we will go to the Riverlands.

I'd be surprised if Sansa did not end up with Tyrion in the books. In the show I think she will have Ramsay's baby (for shock value).

Absolutely I want a secret Lannister baby for Brienne.

But I hope that I am wrong and everyone will be at least contented at the end.

EverySongbird I have the World Book. Blush

TheNorthRemembers · 12/05/2016 18:46

I love that Cleganebowl video! I wonder if they have both the Bastardbowl and Cleganebowl or just one.

Trills · 12/05/2016 20:53

On the theme of "the prince that was promised", lots of people seemed to think that Dany and Drogo's unborn baby was going to grow up to be The Stallion Who Mounts The World.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 12/05/2016 21:08

Neither Sansa or Arya having a penis wouldn't matter if there are no male heirs left. Especially not if Danaerys becomes queen. Anyway, isn't there a Lady in the North somewhere - Lady Mormont, isn't it? JorahTE's mum?

I love that Bran theory!

ILikeToClean · 12/05/2016 21:17

To add weight to the GNC theory, surely the Umbers would have just got rid of Osha, a mere wildling who they despise? She would have been dispensed with in the course of them capturing Rickon, they don't need her, so why present her to Ramsay?

EverySongbirdSays · 12/05/2016 21:22

What's the Bran theory?

OP posts:
Cerseirys · 12/05/2016 21:25

That he can interact with those he encounters on his trips to the past. And that it was his voice that was the "whispers" the Mad King heard and was driven mad by. So basically Bran was the cause of the War of the (Can't remember how many!) Kings.

EverySongbirdSays · 12/05/2016 21:29

Oh Oh OHHH I heard a better one than that about Bran!

Hodor is Hodor because of Bran!

OP posts:
NeedACleverNN · 12/05/2016 21:30

That's an interesting theory there cerseirys

QueenOfThorns · 12/05/2016 21:36

I'm liking the Bran theory. Not because i think it's a nice thing to have happened (particularly in relation to the roasting/strangling of Bran's uncle and grandfather), but it's sort of neat, somehow.

Cerseirys · 12/05/2016 21:36

I thought the Hodor theory is that he was a warg too but unfortunately the animal he warged into was killed before he could warg back? Hence his lack of speech.

ValleyClouds · 12/05/2016 21:44

The one on Alt Shift X basically says that Bran talks to Wylis in the past and messes with his mind so that all he can say is Hodor because he keeps hearing it Sad

Was/Is the book Worf it North?

TheNorthRemembers · 12/05/2016 22:03

Valley I love the book, but it depends if your obsessive about ASOIAF universe. I saw it being sold in The Works.

I do not know, but I think the Defiance of Duskendale and Tywin had more to do with Aerys's madness. Also whatever happened at Summerhall did not help.

I feel so stupid. Thanks to reading you ladies finally I managed to understand one of Bran's dreams - the one about (and I feel so stupid for not getting it sooner). I always thought it was about Cleganebowl, but it is the 3 men who are protecting Sansa and Arya: Sandor, Jaime and Jaqen (a Braavosi faceless man).

"He saw his father pleading with the king, his face etched with grief. He saw Sansa crying herself to sleep at night, and he saw Arya watching in silence and holding her secrets hard in her heart. There were shadows all around them. One shadow was as dark as ash, with the terrible face of a hound. Another was armored like the sun, golden and beautiful. Over them both loomed a giant in armor made of stone, but when he opened his visor, there was nothing inside but darkness and thick black blood."

EverySongbirdSays · 12/05/2016 22:07

Over them both loomed a giant in armor made of stone, but when he opened his visor, there was nothing inside but darkness and thick black blood.

Surely that's The Mountain not Jaqen. And the armor like the sun Brienne.

OP posts:
Paffle · 12/05/2016 22:17

Place marking. Sorry. Bloody love this thread.

TheNorthRemembers · 12/05/2016 22:33

Everysongbird That is what I thought. But the giant in an armor made of stone is the Titan guarding the port of Braavos. It has no face, so it is a faceless man, so more likely to be Jaqen than Syrio. Unless Jaqen is Syrio.

Bran was dreaming this when Sansa and Arya were already in peril in and around King's Landing.

Brienne's armour is not golden, and her shield is a shooting star, not a sun. Also Brienne serves others helping them, but the Hound, Jaime and Jaqen are principal agents and helping the girls for their own perhaps selfish reasons.

TheNorthRemembers · 12/05/2016 22:36

I apologise EverySongbird and get off my soapbox, but reading the new chapter has made me so happy and giddy.

EverySongbirdSays · 12/05/2016 22:41
  1. Apologise for what? Grin
  2. What soapbox? Unless we're both on it.
  3. Do you mean the Arienne chapter? Is it worf it then?? I would have dashed for it if it had been another character
OP posts:
TheNorthRemembers · 13/05/2016 08:32

EverySongbird I never like Arianne that much, but I am desperate. And I love Daemon Sands. Also the chapter is partly set in a cave system which used to belong to the Children of the Forest and this is where we officially find out about Aegon and Storm's End.

I am in fact so desperate that I cannot wait to see the show on Monday when it is a completely different story from the books now.

If you ever decide to read the World Book I recommend the bits about Tywin and Aerys. And of course Joanna.

EverySongbirdSays · 13/05/2016 11:00

I've ordered it Grin

OP posts:
TheNorthRemembers · 13/05/2016 12:12

Oh, no. You are just as hopeless as I am Grin GRRM, what have you done to us?!

WestleyAndButtockUp · 13/05/2016 12:37

On a couple of threads (and to a few individuals) I've recommended the podcasts that 'the History of Westeros' release after every TV broadcast. I just wondered if anyone else is listening to them, like they said they might?

2-hr discussion 'TV-Show-only' podcast is released each week on a Wednesday (and is also on YouTube)

2-hr 'TV-Show-and-book' podcast seems to be released every Friday. This week's podcast link here: www.acast.com/westeroshistory/gameofthrones-s6e03-booktoshow

Although you can also subscribe through iTunes.

The most interesting discussion I heard today was the possibility that Missande might actually BE "the Harpy"! That for some reason, on the show (but not in the book), she might be betraying Danerys by using what Grey Worm tells her, and feeding it straight to The Sons of the Harpy.

Certainly her character doesn't have much else to do on the TV show, now that Tyrion and Varys have taken over. And if there IS an actual Harpy

WestleyAndButtockUp · 13/05/2016 12:39

.... And if there IS an actual Harpy, there's no-one else in Mereen it could be. No-one else left alive in Mereen even has a named role.

pyrowall · 13/05/2016 13:21

Westley - thanks for the links to the podcast - I'm listening to it now.

I'll have to stick to the show only ones as I haven't read the books so don't want to get confused!

Interesting theories on Bran and Rickon and the GNC (hope this is true!)

Bring on 'Book of the Stranger!'

TheNorthRemembers · 13/05/2016 13:42

Those podcasts sound good, but I am so lazy. I'll try to make an effort.
