THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSING EP 2, INCLUDING SPOILERS. READ NO FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. GOT THAT? SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

QUITE, QUITE SURE? YOU REALLY WANT TO DISCUSS SERIES 6, EPISODE 2?

OK. I think that should be enough.

Right. R B - greatest TV villain of all time? I didn't see that coming!

OP posts:

"Hodor! Hodor!"

"What you talkin' about, Willis?" Grin Brilliant!

Why didn't Littlefinger marry Sansa? I would have thought that would have given him a lot of power.

And what happened to the weird kid at the Eery?

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 17:28

That's his plan in the book - I can only think they changed it because it didn't work in principle for the show in terms of the action. They would've had to write Sansa out for a bit. Weird kid at the Eeyrie (Robyn Arryn) still there presumably. First cousin to the Starks so the alliegiance of the Eeyrie would be theirs technically, but Littlefinger is the boss and putting their trust in him dangerous

Trills · 02/05/2016 17:58

Robyn Arryn is first cousin to the Starks we know but has no Stark blood.

I know Ned's siblings are both out of the picture, but did he have any cousins? That's how would be on to inherit Winterfell if Sansa/Arya/Bran/Rickon were all dead, I think.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 02/05/2016 18:02

I really hope the gift is not Rickon or Theon. Don't think I could bear something horrible happening to either of them - especially considering the way Ramsay operates.

I think Jon Snow will come back more ruthless- in the books Lady Stoneheart is quite ruthless, hence her name. Maybe a small part of humanity is lost when they are brought back from the dead. Perhaps justice operates in a 'higher' form and they are a bit like agents of karma - you were nasty to others and now I'm your retribution.

Trills · 02/05/2016 18:03

I thought that Catelyn's son being murdered in front of her was what made her more ruthless...

What is Theon doing? Why is he not staying with Sansa and Brienne and Pod? Silly Theon.

Cerseirys · 02/05/2016 18:07

Why does everyone think the gift will be Rickon? As far as Ramsay (and indeed anyone but Theon and Sansa) know, both Bran and Rickon are dead. And after all this time, would anyone even recognise Rickon? Bran is certainly almost unrecognisable from the Bran of 4 years ago.

SansaryaAgain · 02/05/2016 18:09

Ned doesn't have any cousins AFAIK, but in the books there's a character who's hinted at being his brother Benjen. They haven't followed this storyline in the books but Benjen may well be alive and well, as I saw him in a cafe in north London a few weeks ago!

Fiderer · 02/05/2016 18:11

I was one of those on the other thread who said it wasn't on to post spoilers on a thread clearly meant for just that.

Absurd, don't know if my brain had fused or I'm just dim.

Apologies for absurdity & dimness.

judgelionelnutmeg · 02/05/2016 18:11

Question - how did Ed get the Wildlings to help? I thought he was in the room with Ser Davos and the others? Did he sneak out at some point or was he never there in the first place?

limitedperiodonly · 02/05/2016 18:14

"Hodor! Hodor!" "What you talkin' about, Willis?"

Brilliant westley. My heart sank when I saw the wretched Bran and that miserable girl again, but this storyline seems good.

Trills · 02/05/2016 18:15

He snuck out in ep1.

limitedperiodonly · 02/05/2016 18:16

Question - how did Ed get the Wildlings to help? I thought he was in the room with Ser Davos and the others? Did he sneak out at some point

In the last episode he said: 'I'm, going now. Lock the door behind me.' Melisandre also popped in.

I found it slightly implausible that Ser Alliser would let people come and go but decided to overlook it.

judgelionelnutmeg · 02/05/2016 18:33

Thanks Trills and Limited

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 18:35

What is Theon doing? Why is he not staying with Sansa and Brienne and Pod? Silly Theon.

My theory is : A leaked chapter from TWOW was Theon specific.

Sansa and Theon never meet in the books. They are detaching him here to place him were he needs to be for the events of that chapter.

What relation are the Karstarks to the Starks ? There is something in it I'll have to look it up goes to look it up

PreviouslyMal · 02/05/2016 18:35

Ramsay knows the boys are alive, Theon told him when he fake rescued him, then brought him back for more torture.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 02/05/2016 18:38

I found it implausible that the Black Watch would barely fight at all against their historic enemies the Wildlings. I suppose there was only a relative few of them who killed Jon, and everyone would be given pause when confronted so immediately by such a giant as Wun-Wun (sp?)

PreviouslyMal · 02/05/2016 18:39

Karstarks are Stark banner men, or they were until Robb chopped off Lord Karstark's head. Hence the new Lord Karstark siding with Ramsay, my heart sank when he mentioned the Umbers - OSHA was meant to be taking Rickon to the Last Hearth ( house of Umber).

PreviouslyMal · 02/05/2016 18:41

Old Lord K murdered two Lannister boys , that's why Robb killed him.

JonSnowsBeardClippings · 02/05/2016 18:44

The nights watch are seriously depleted - after the battle of hard home not many remain. Plus many of the, were loyal to Jon, or at least aren't loyal to alliser Thorne so wouldn't necessarily die in his cause.

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 18:53

The Karstarks have a stronger claim to Winterfell (descendants of Karlon Stark who effectively started his own house) than Ramsey so god knows why they'd carry on supporting him.

They may be about to turn on him.

I still feel sure it's not Rickon.

WeDoNotSow · 02/05/2016 18:53

Everysong I mean if he goes round calling himself Jon Targaryan. He just has such an affinity with the Starks, I know about the RLJ theory, it's the only one that make sense, but I'm just hoping he views himself as a stark.
Now Tyrion has an affinity with the dragons. I'd be on board with TT!

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 18:59

Oh no, WeDoNotSow he'd be Jon Stark I can't see him going round saying he's Targaryen at all. As of next week, by the look of things the only living person who even knows his lineage is Bran.

BonerSibary · 02/05/2016 19:14

Interesting to hear that the Ramsay/Sansa thing isn't in the book. I always felt it was rather crowbarred in and unconvincing. It didn't make sense for Littlefinger to leave her there, and nor did it make sense for Ramsay to let Roose mistreat her. If you think how annoyed he was when Locke cut off Jaime's hand, and how he told Ramsay off for basically rendering Theon useless, it doesn't fit that he wouldn't even try and make Ramsay behave a bit when he was actually there. You got the impression earlier on that neither of the body part removals would've happened if he'd been around to prevent it. Roose did have some idea of the value of hostages and alliances, and if Ramsay had treated Sansa properly there was a realistic chance of a viable and useful partnership even after they'd killed her mother and brother.

8dayweek · 02/05/2016 19:14

I thought Robin Arryn was sent away from the Eyrie by Littlefinger to "learn how to fight" or similar?

And yes to Ramsey knowing there are two Stark's still alive (in addition to Sansa & Jon) as Theon told him during the escape / recapture thing he done when he first took Theon prisoner.

GraysAnalogy · 02/05/2016 19:19
