That should say love wasn't 'forbidden'.

Ned and catelyn didn't love each other at first though.

I will almost definitely be staying up for the 2am showing of Episode 3. Anyone else doing same? Shall I start new thread?

Yes, please start a new thread! I won't be able to watch until tomorrow eve.

That's what makes Catelyn's hatred of Jon Snow so weird though. She was betrothed to Brandon and ended up with his brother unexpectedly why is it a betrayal at all that he has this bastard? Yes, they were married but not because they were in love.

Everybird I don't think she cared that he had a bastard, if he had left it with the baby's mother. It was the embarrassment that he brought the baby home with him for the whole world to see that was the betrayal. Just complete disregard and disrespect for her, and her status, and what must other people think etc.
Why she takes it out on an innocent baby though, rather than her husband, no one knows.

WeDoNotSow · 08/05/2016 17:45

And not only brought him home, but raised him at their home, and gave him all the comforts and life skills, training, education etc, that should only be given to 'true born' sons of Lords.
She always felt Jon was beneath her children, and was getting a lifestyle he, as a bastard, didn't deserve.

I have so much sadness for poor little Jon Snow the younger self of a fictional character that doesn't exist, not knowing who his real mum is or why his siblings mum won't just love him Sad sob.

I'll start new thread and link just before it comes on

Me too Sad
I couldn't stand Catelyn anyone, so jumped up, and obsessed with 'Tully blood' and 'true borns' and 'bastards' etc

Cat clearly thought Ashara Dayne was the mother: a famous and tragic beauty at court, related to the true knight Arthur Dayne, the lover of her husband's life, who killed herself after Ned married Cat. I am not saying we know if any of this is true, but I doubt it entered Cat's mind that Jon's mother would be common. That is why all the rivalry. Cat must think that Ned felt guilty and that Jon is there to remind him of the true love of his life.

Another vote not liking Cat.

Catelyn was a terrible snob, but I would be a bit put out too if dh suddenly came home with someone else's child for me to bring up. Poor Jon. He has had a rough time of it, what with the being murdered and all.

Report
EverySongbirdSays · 08/05/2016 18:42

Yes in the book it says she thinks his mother was Ashara Dayne and that those were the rumours whispered throughout Winterfell rumours that died suddenly as soon as Catelyn told Ned. I didn't much care for her in the book and less so onscreen - actress got on my nerves

Yep, that must've been pretty shit for him Grin

The Catelyn actress - Michelle Fairley - is great and is very generous about buying her own round and other people's as well.

If I have Sky Atlantic on Sky Go, how soon after the 2am broadcast is it available to watch/download on Sky Go on my laptop? If I can't wake up to watch it live at 2am?

Do (ice) zombies breathe?

When Jon Snow and friends were standing in a boat not very far out from a lot of zombies last season and not even fucking rowing I was worried that they would just walk along the bottom of the sea and just reach up.
