QUITE, QUITE SURE? YOU REALLY WANT TO DISCUSS SERIES 6, EPISODE 2?

OK. I think that should be enough.

Right. R B - greatest TV villain of all time? I didn't see that coming!

OP posts:
Cerseirys · 02/05/2016 14:52

OMG, looks like it'll feature the Tower of Joy! Also JS rising from the dead in a little loin cloth sounds vaguely familiar...

AnnaChronism · 02/05/2016 15:06

So next week we get the flashbacks to a young Ned Stark and who Jon Snow really is.
I like Jon Snow in a loin cloth but yes, it is very Jesus.

The gift for Ramsay am I right that it will be Rickon?
I don't want Ramsay to torture anyone else. I think it's time for his comeuppance although how they will top Joffrey's I don't know.

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:09

Hellllooooo

it's me. In my defence I did not post a single spoiler and was very respeckfull abart people needing to catch up and everyfink. Blush

Person who said I think on tuther thread that they thought at first Roose Bolton stabbed Ramsey, so did I!!!

Theon is going to die surely? But Ramsey is coming for Jon.....

I'm confused about Jon's loyalty's now - he was a sworn brother of watch til he died, he did die and they killed him. He has not broken oath. But Ramsey is Warden of the North and Steward of Winterfell now.

Bastard vs Bastard, Jon STILL has more claim to Winterfell than a legitimised Ramsey and the banners of the North will no doubt flock to him, hence the armour seen on him and Sansa.

Head of house is technically Bran, but Jon can say Littlefinger had no right to give Sansa away and that her marriage is void.

Next time if I'm up that late, as is likely to be the case, bad insomniac, I'll start a new episode thread

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:13

Gift for Ramsey is surely Theon?

Rickon long gone and that would deviate from books.

Is that not Tortmund Giantsbane saying he has a gift for Ramsey? In which case it's a trap, and a trick as he is Team Jon Snow.

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:16

Apols not Tortmund but I can't work out who it is speaking, pictures too dark.

PirateFairy45 · 02/05/2016 15:20

I screamed when Jon was alive.

I have to pretend I don't know what's gone on though otherwise my OH will accuse me of cheating on him GrinGrinGrin

Trills · 02/05/2016 15:27

Sensibly done - I think we will need a thread per episode - then people can join each thread once they've seen that episode, whenever that may be.

Otherwise things do appear in the little previews of "Threads I'm On".

WeDoNotSow · 02/05/2016 15:27

Everysong but Sansa's marriage surely doesn't count because she's already married to Tyrion, although I suppose not now as he's a traitorous kin-slayer who's presumed dead?

I hop the rumours JS becomes JT are NOT true, that would Make me very unhappy!!

Trills · 02/05/2016 15:34

Sansa's marriage to Ramsay is void because she was already married.

Although her marriage to Tyrion was not consummated, not sure if that's a thing in their world.

Bran is boring, but the things he dreams of are interesting.

I don't really care that the Iron Islands are going to have a Kingsmoot.

Shame we had no comedy Dothraki this time.

Trills · 02/05/2016 15:36

Poor Melisande - she looks so cold and sad - I want to give her a hug.

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:40

WeDoNotSow

This got covered in Episode 1's thread

  1. Sansa and Tyrion married in front of the Seven. (the New Gods) The North keeps the Old Gods and would likely not acknowledge the validity of a ceremony that did not involve the Old Gods

  2. It wasn't consummated

This was how she came to marry Ramsey

  1. She married Ramsey in front of the Old Gods and it was consummated

But its validity can be contested both by claiming that the marriage to Tyrion counts (which she may do politically in future) or by saying that a male member of her family did not "give" her. Littlefinger is only her uncle by marriage but was presumed at the time to be the ranking male of the family given that the others are all dead/were presumed to be at the time.

Trills · 02/05/2016 15:43

Sadly "he's a fucking psychopath" is not good enough under the fantasy patriarchy.

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:44

If by JT you mean Jon Targaryen that's been assumed for a very, very long time and so he has always been since S1/Book 1 so why would that make you unhappy? Confused

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:46

Trills · 02/05/2016 15:47

Tyrion did well with the dragons, didn't he?

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:48

Fuck me that Kingsmoot was so fucking boring in the books to the extent I can't remember who won and don't particularly care.

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:49

Yes, twas curious they didn't eat him though.

Trills · 02/05/2016 15:52

Maybe the dragons were bored and so wanted to see what this small human would do. They didn't see him as a threat, so they were curious. They were also kinda depressed, so maybe they didn't have the energy to kill him.

Then when he took the collar off one, the other was all hey I want some of that too please.

I think a dog or cat would be intelligent enough to do all that (as long as they were not trained like Ramsay's dogs).

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 15:58

The one with the collar off could it leave and find Dany? I'm sure there's a thing in the book that there's 2 on the loose.

RE the consummation of marriage Sansa, this happened via rape so I'm not sure what the score is with that. In the books, convicted rapists go to the Wall and take the black as do bastards. This could be where ramsey goes to die.

This being a medieval esque society do they even acknowledge marital rape though?

Trills · 02/05/2016 16:00

Marital rape didn't "exist" in the UK til the 90s so I'm going to bet that Westeros does not recognise it.

One difference with the ages in the show vs books is that in the books Tommen is almost certainly not old enough to have done any consummating with Margaery - in the show he did so with much enthusiasm! Not sure if that'll become relevant or not.

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 16:12

In the book Joffrey is 14 when he takes the throne, Myrcella is 8, and Tommen is 6. It's badly bizarre because he is clearly shown to be 6 at the Battle of Blackwater and then they rapidly aged him for the sake of the series, but in the book he plays at being King in the way a little boy would and Margaery effectively babysits him. Soooo weird.
In the book also, Dany is 13 when she is forced into marriage with Khal Drogo, but they aged her up because they couldn't have done it onscreen not just logistically but for the sheer outcry.

JonSnowsBeardClippings · 02/05/2016 16:13

I think the gift for Ramsay is something unpleasant. Ramsay's shit eating grin when the man moved aside surely has to be wiped off his face. It can't be rickon, torture of a small boy is too much to watch. I mean I know we have seen shireen burnt to death and a baby eaten by dogs but they were quick. I couldn't cope with rickon experiencing ramsay's special brand of insanity, especially with no roose to keep him in check (such as it was)

JonSnowsBeardClippings · 02/05/2016 16:16

They aged up all the characters for the show. I think their original ages wouldn't have worked, and even grrm agrees that they were too young so I go with show ages in my mind even for the books

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 16:19

I think this too. I am near to 100% confident that it won't be Rickon, so don't panic. I think end game for Rickon is to replace his father as Lord Stark of Winterfell

Besides which don't the majority of people, including Ramsey, believe Theon murdered both boys?

WestleyAndButtockUp · 02/05/2016 16:20

The bloke who was there when Roose was killed - wasn't that a Karstark? Was it him who promised a gift to Ramsay? - i missed all talk of a gift.
