THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSING EP 2, INCLUDING SPOILERS. READ NO FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. GOT THAT? SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

QUITE, QUITE SURE? YOU REALLY WANT TO DISCUSS SERIES 6, EPISODE 2?

OK. I think that should be enough.

Right. R B - greatest TV villain of all time? I didn't see that coming!

OP posts:
QueenOfThorns · 05/05/2016 06:44

I thought that Ian McShane's character wasn't literally responsible for bringing a character back from the dead, just associated with the reappearance of someone we're supposed to think is dead? I'm being deliberately circumspect in case people don't want to know , but it's someone I like!

And Roose Bolton wasn't a stupid man, no way did he trust Ramsay. He would've put him down like the mad dog he referred to if Ramsay hadn't got there first.

Middleoftheroad · 05/05/2016 07:05

I thought it wiped the floor with the first episode. Where to begin...Tyrion the dragon tamer (did they possibly recognise Targ blood?) The Iron Islands, Theon growing a pair (sorry) Sansa and Brienne, the wildlings storming Castle Black and taking smirking little traitor Ollie away (admittedly they killed and ate his folks) and JS of course. He's going to kick your ass RB! I didn't miss the Dothraki or Sand Snakes stories, sorry. Want to see more of Theon's big sis too. I like her! I have watched it three times and still thrilling.

Middleoftheroad · 05/05/2016 07:07

Ps CaptainWarbeck great warging theory. That works for me!

Trills · 05/05/2016 08:32

Have I told you my Targ/dragon theory recently?

Targs do not have a magical association with dragons.

Olden-day Targs knew how to tame a dragon.

Modern people have forgotten.

Dany stumbled onto it through being there when they hatched and them getting imprinted (like ducklings ) - that means they won't hurt her but doesn't mean they'll obey her.

Tyrion knows more than most people - he reads a lot and had a dragon obsession.

Sam is off to the Citadel to read all the books ever read - Sam for dragon-rider!

Trills · 05/05/2016 08:32

Good warging/sleeping/resuscitation combo there CaptainWarbeck.

CaptainWarbeck · 05/05/2016 08:35

I like Theon's big sister too, the Iron Islands are a million times more interesting than all the sand snake business.

Wouldn't fancy being pushed out to sea though like they did to Theon's dad! Obsessed with water and drowning that lot Smile

gingercat12 · 05/05/2016 08:37

Bonnibell They mention it in the books, not sure about the show. A bit tired today.

I love the CaptainWarbeck warging theory as well.

I have no inside info, but always assumed Ian McShane will be a priest who follows the Seven, not Rh'llor. (I can't spell it for toffee.) I expect him bringing someone back from the dead will be more psychological, like giving someone hope and a reason to live while nursing them back to health.

I think LSH is gone. But maybe I am wrong.

sashh · 05/05/2016 09:15

Bran is certainly almost unrecognisable from the Bran of 4 years ago

That's because he is a different actor.

I hope the 'present' is Jon Snow, with Ghost and a few hundred wildlings. Now the wildlings are south of the wall they are technically 'Northerners' .

Northeners also believe that the man who passes sentence should be the same as the one who carries it out with a sword.

JeepersMcoy · 05/05/2016 09:16

I like the dragon taming theory trills, it would be fun if some more people started riding about on them, but there is still the whole not getting burnt to death skills that Dany has. Surely that's what makes her the mother of dragons (as well as hatching dragons of course).

weirdsister · 05/05/2016 09:18

Bran is a different actor? I thought he was just older.

JeepersMcoy · 05/05/2016 09:21

On the whole Arya storyline. I think it is awesome. I can't wait for her to become a kickass blind assassin and start properly revenging Grin

NeedACleverNN · 05/05/2016 09:28

Bran is definitely NOT a different actor

He's all grown up

magratsflyawayhair · 05/05/2016 09:33

Yep. Bran is played by isaac Henpstead Wright, he just grew up.

WeDoNotSow · 05/05/2016 11:15

In the books, Melisandre, in her flames, sees Jon turn into a wolf, then back into a man again.

WeDoNotSow · 05/05/2016 11:20

Ooh, sassh I like that!

WestleyAndButtockUp · 05/05/2016 14:44

Whether or not her God is real, Melisandre was praying to him to bring Jon back. She said a prayer virtually identical to the Thoros prayer for/by Beric Dondarrion.

David J. Peterson, the creator of the High Valyrian language used on Game of Thrones, has posted the full official translation to his Tumblr blog. It reads:
Zyhys oñoso jehikagon Aeksiot epi, se gis hen syndrorro jemagon. "We ask the Lord to shine his light, and lead a soul out of darkness."
Zyhys perzys stepagon Aeksio Oño jorepi, se morghultas lys qelitsos sikagon. "We beg the Lord to share his fire, and light a candle that has gone out."
Hen syndrorro, oños. Hen ñuqir, perzys. Hen morghot, glaeson. "From darkness, light. From ashes, fire. From death, life."

sashh · 05/05/2016 15:09

Sorry, I thought Bran was different, I know a couple of the kids have changed and Cersi doesn't seem to have realised Tommen has grown about 5 years in one.

SerJorahsSecondChoice · 05/05/2016 18:33

Basically Ian McShane gave an interview about how he was responsible for bringing back a character everyone had thought we'd seen the last of. That was what I read in a lot of interviews and reports. However, after a week he was getting a lot of shit for spoiling a plot twist - I couldn't understand why as he hadn't really said much. His response to all of this was basically 'get a life everyone, it's only tits and dragons.'

I then found the original interview which contained a continuation of his original teaser (so kudos to the many news outlets that decided to cut this bit when reporting on the interview!!) where he carried on, the gist of it being 'There are 2 people I could be bringing back - X or Y. It can't be X... So yeah, it's Y.' (in the actual interview he did name them but I don't want to spoil).

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/05/2016 18:36

I need to know if my suspicions are correct, pm me pleeeease

EverySongbirdSays · 05/05/2016 19:19

Done Alisvolat

BuzzLightyearsHoneyBun · 05/05/2016 21:30

My mum has a theory that Walda's baby could have survived as she crouched her body over it, maybe it could be rescued. I realised what was going to happen so moved it on (got a baby so could n't cope with that) so not sure if she could be right.

I love the dire wolves, I hope Ayra's returns. I was reading on the wiki page that she heads a huge pack and is running north in the books so I am hopeful

Cerseirys · 05/05/2016 21:48

Sorry, I thought Bran was different, I know a couple of the kids have changed and Cersi doesn't seem to have realised Tommen has grown about 5 years in one.

Bran is the same actor, but Tommen and Myrcella were recast last season or the season before.

Middleoftheroad · 05/05/2016 23:25

Oh and I really want to see Ser Robert Strong AKA Gregor Clegane kick the High Sparrow's scrawny backside, which is weird as Cersei has been so despicable. I think the Sparrows need to fly off now. Tywin would never have stood for it. If only he hadn't died on the lav......

EverySongbirdsays · 05/05/2016 23:45

hope Ayra's returns. I was reading on the wiki page that she heads a huge pack and is running north in the books so I am hopeful

Technically true, and technically not true. She is currently in Braavos, at night she dreams that she is a wolf running and leading a large pack and calls herself The Night Wolf. Theory is (and it is a theory) is that she wargs into her direwolf Nymeria at night (as has been shown that Bran does with Summer, and Jon may have done with Ghost) If all the Starks can warg into their wolves, there is hope for Rickon and Shaggy Dog, and a damn shame the Boltons were quick to kill Robb's wolf grey wind. Interestingly, as Sansa's wolf is also dead, is Sansa the only one who is not a warg? With the possibility Robb wasn't either?

ILikeToClean · 05/05/2016 23:58

Love the dire wolves too. Is Summer still around? Not seen in the Bran scenes but can't remember anything untoward happening...
