By the way, does anyone know whether the red God / Rhollor / Lord of Light are part of the same religion? Confused

Arya was blinded after she stole one of the faces from the Temple of the many faced gods in order to go and get stabby revenge on the horrible kings guard dude. She is meant to be 'no-one' but by killing someone on her list, she went against that and is being punished as a result.

And yes The Lord of Light, R'hallor, The Red God are all the same deity.

Just watched it. Loved the Brienne rescue and wasn't expecting it. Probably going to be the only good news in the whole season!

Red woman thing unexpected too. Amused me when she just got into bed!

I thought so. Thanks, Room101. And do the faceless men have any connection to that religion, or are they not connected to any religion?

Wish I'd watched the last few episodes of last series again...I was a bit 'wait...is Myrcella dead?! (And can someone remind me how she died).

Very much a scene setting episode I think, didn't give away much.

Am convinced Jon snow will be resurrected by Mel, after all, she saw him fighting for the Starks in the fire and people have reported him dressed in stark costume in Ireland where it's filmed

I loved it! Was delighted when Brienne & Pod came to rescue Theon & Sansa - as my name suggests, I do adore the good lady brienne. As opening episodes go, it was a really good one. Much better than season 5.

Myrsella died after the sand snake woman kissed her on the lips as a farewell but she had poison on her lips.

Snake woman took the antidote...myrcella didn't

Great episode! I loved brienne's joy when Sansa accepted her service. So I guess the old melissandra is the 'real' one? Or is it like the faceless man that we won't really know what the real one is?

No bran storyline again, that was a pretty dull storyline last time.

Not sure how on earth Sansa and theon survived the fall but I'm glad they did.

Do you have to burn bodies south of the wall? Is it just north of the wall they turn into white walkers?

I found the last scene really creepy. The background music was unnerving. Her very old age has been referred to before. She looked pensive before she took off the red jewel. I'm wondering did she get into the bed to finally die and does she intend for the jewel to be found to bring back jon?

I fucking love Brienne.

I also loved the dialogue with the Dothraki - 'one of the top five things..'

Thought the end was great. No longer will I be thrown into a depression by Melisandre's tits.

I laughed out loud twice. First,y at the " you're a greedy bitch" comment and then at the " she thinks you want to eat her baby"
I thought it was great. Don't want to have to wait a whole week!!!!

No longer will I be thrown into a depression by Melisandre's tits.

Age comes to us all. There is no photographic evidence of my tits so I'm going to imagine they looked like hers long ago Grin

Neither do I think she died. My mum used to climb into bed like that. Though she was considerably less than 400 years old and always wore a nightie.

Regarding the discrepancy between high-tits Melisandre and getting-on-a-bit Melisandre, is that just part of her normal bedtime routine, or are we being shown this because she's planning to give up the youth illusion for a greater cause?

QueenOfThorns · 25/04/2016 22:33

Oh I did love the Dothraki scene, it was very Monty Python!

And quite a good body count for episode 1!

Report
SuffolkNWhat · 25/04/2016 22:33

Is Red Mel intending to die because the flames were wrong or does she always take her necklace off before bed?

Report
TheSecondOfHerName · 25/04/2016 22:34

If high-tits Melisandre and getting-on-a-bit Melisandre are too long to type every time, we could abbreviate to HTM and GOABM.

Also, why does Varys do that weird thing with his arms and his cloak? It's like the middle-aged eunuch version of young women pulling their sleeves down over their hands.
