Apologises, seven volumes. (You're right).

Apparently the Bran actor took the year off to do his gcses and got a string of a stars.

shadowfax07 · 26/04/2016 23:33

The one thing I keep wondering about, is that Sandra was still married to Tyrion when she was wed to Ramsay Bolton. There's going to be a cracking story line in the future about that, surely?

shadowfax07 · 26/04/2016 23:34

Sandra? Sansa!

Sorry, stupid autocorrect Blush

EverySongbirdSays · 26/04/2016 23:35

What is decidedly gross about Littlefinger and Sansa though is that he was desperately, desperately in love with her Mother as a young man and she rejected him. His closeness to Sansa I thought until he sold her on to Ramsey was to just pretend she was her dead mother and rewrite history, perhaps to marry her himself and then have his heirs be the Winterfell heirs as no-one knows two Stark sons live.

What he did instead is send the girl who is the image of the woman who rejected him off to a known torturer who rapes her. Quite the revenge.

re Bran, GCSE's convenient but they actually wrote him out as his story had run out in the existing source material and they needed to bring all the other storylines up to pace. They expected Winds Of Winter to be well out by now and its not with no date in sight. They (Benioff/Weiss) have read what exists however and know where certain characters are going.

EverySongbirdSays · 26/04/2016 23:42

Aaaaah well you see Sansa married Tyrion in front of The Seven (the New Gods practiced in Kings Landing, that the Septa's and Sparrows are involved with)

The Starks (and the Boltons) are of the North and keep The Old Gods (good old fashioned tree worship) Remember Jon Snow taking his Nights Watch vows before The Old Gods.

Sansa's marriage before the New Gods to a LANNISTER would not be seen as legit by the North and seen as a forced marriage.

Though her marriage to Ramsey was also coerced she was initially grateful for it and consented to it.

If she is pregnant however she may choose to claim the baby is a Lannister heir or even a Snow to keep it out of Boltons clutches!

ZacharyQuack · 26/04/2016 23:46

Sansa and Tyrion never consumated their marriage so Littlefinger seemed to think that she was free to wed Ramsay.

I really hope Sansa gets some balls this season and starts to act like a Stark.

The preview for next episode show Tyrion visiting the dragons in the dungeon and it looks like one roars fire at him. Perhaps Tyrion will be Unburnt as well?

I'm hoping that Rickon will turn up in the very last episode, all grown up and played by Chris Helmsworth (in his Thor costume, preferably). Then he can kick the arse of any baddies that are still standing and be the hero.

EverySongbirdSays · 27/04/2016 00:02

Though that's true, Sansa can easily claim otherwise. In time Tyrion may back her claim up out of political convenience.

It's odd but I have always seen Sansa/Tyrion as a potential end game marriage. Running Casterly Rock He is the only man to have shown her true kindness in her adult life.

EverySongbirdSays · 27/04/2016 00:08

I have some Rickon knowledge based off the last book but I won't post unless you get back to me and say POST as may be spoilery

wickedlazy · 27/04/2016 00:45

He's in skagos :)

OP posts:
wickedlazy · 27/04/2016 00:48

Rickon book theories not spoilers as they will probably change his storyline to fit the series anyway.

MissMoo22 · 27/04/2016 00:49

What the fuck's a skagos?

;)

EverySongbirdSays · 27/04/2016 00:59

His location was snot what I was referring to, wickedlazy Wink

Would someone please summarise the situation with the books?

Are we waiting for GRRM to complete the sixth book of a planned seven? Is that correct?

Which two books were issued as 2-volume works?

I realise this is easily google-able, but I'm enjoying this thread and appreciate the knowledge that some posters have about this world. I suspect other readers would also like a summary from those in the know.

EverySongbirdSays · 27/04/2016 11:43

Books 3 and 5 A Storm Of Swords and a Dance With Dragons respectively were issued as one volume hardback and ebook and 2 as paperback

A Winds Of Winter book 6 of a planned 7 is in progress. Popular theory is that he's stuck and waiting to copy what the show does.

What would you like to have summarised? Lot of stuff!

PreviouslyMal · 27/04/2016 12:19

The whole Sansa marriage to Ramsay doesn't happen in the books, he marries a girl he actually believes is Arya, but isn't.
As for Little finger, in the show he actually said that he knew nothing about Ramsay ( which is odd as he usually knows everything) before he married Sansa off, which suits the narrative.
If Jon really had warged into Ghost, his last word would have mirrored the book, he actually says "Ghost" when lying in the snow bleeding out.
If Melisande has lost her faith, well, so did Thoros of Myr until he resurrected Beric Dondarrion for the first time.
There are all sorts of theories online, one is that there is a dragon inside the wall Confused .
I'd like to see the night's king try and "turn" Jon's corpse into a wight , but he has no powers over someone with "dragon blood" so Jon just wakes as himself.

Melisande doing it is a bit predictable, I just hope it happens soon and is jaw-droppingly good !

yumyumpoppycat · 27/04/2016 12:47

Didn't GRRM take 10 years to write one of the books? I doubt he wants to copy the show but I guess there is an enormous amount of pressure to finish the books more quickly and for them to be amazing particularly resolving it all in a satisfiying way. In addition fan theories might have influenced planned plotlines, possibly they are better than ones he had planned or he wants to keep surprising us?

yumyumpoppycat · 27/04/2016 12:51

I just had a moment of being pissed off why kill Jon Snow, ? But I guess one thing about jon being literally stabbed in the back by the knights watch is that he no longer owes them loyalty - assuming he comes back to life ;) ?

wickedlazy · 27/04/2016 12:58

The books and show diverged last season when littlefinger took Sansa to Winterfell, and in other areas, the whole Dorne storyline is different in the books, and Brienne's storyline is different (much more perilous!). There are five books, but book 3 was realesed in paper back as two seperate volumes, a storm of swords volume 1 and volume 2. Next book was released, then with a dance with dragons same again, released in paper back as volume 1 and volume 2. I read 7 volumes, but it was really only 5 books iyswim. Has any one read the three short stories in the prequel "A knight of the seven kingdoms" I wad just finished the second story when I started getting excited for Season 6 of the show and started rewatching.

Ooh I like the night's king thing (trying to turn Jon into a wight)! That would be great to watch!

maggiso · 27/04/2016 18:34

Wasn't there a skeleton wight on a real reindeer that helped Gilly and Jon's friend ( forgotten his name- Sam?) under the wall. Also I seem to remember nights brothers were (in the days the wall was built with magical enchantments) buried in the wall to keep eternal watch. I wonder if Jon will become a 'good' wight? I have read the books so it might be from them not the TV series.

EverySongbirdSays · 27/04/2016 23:19

Book to Show was fairly spot on up until 2 seasons ago.

I really really hated some of the changes they made mostly for being unnecessary and shit changes such as Bran colliding with that brothel. Completely not in the book.

The huge changes to the Gilly storyline have boiled my piss particularly Sam sending her to the brothel and the disappearance of the Baby Swap storyline.
Not an improvement and not necessary.

Also missing (am i right?) the meeting of Bran and Sam, Bran and Theon.

I have liked the Sansa twist though not in the books.

I'm also pretty pissed off about Lady Stoneheart. OH AND AND SHIREEN. SHIREEN YOU EVIL CUNTS. And Myrcella is still alive in the book with a storyline going somewhere interesting too. I don't know how that will turn out in the book, the two may end up being massively different.

wickedlazy I meant Davos Wink

emilybohemia · 27/04/2016 23:24

Yumyum, they have to be loyal to the Night'sWatch until death, so it does seem that he 'dies' to end that, perhaps sohe can now lead the Starks in battle.

'Coldhands' is the one someone mentioned above. I always wondered if he was Benjen.

weirdsister · 27/04/2016 23:50

What happened to shireen's mother?
