I've just seen the new .

Hang on to your hats for a another round of pregnancy/childbirth bingo and the continuing adventures of the most drama-filled antenatal group and understaffed maternity unit in the country!

Previous thread here to remind yourselves of last series/loose ends and see if any of Bertie's predictions come true!

The scene where Jill's character tells Rick that she's a childminder was hilarious, why were they both acting as though she'd just confessed to being a drug dealer?

That midwife was Grantly Budgen's wife in Waterloo Road. When would they have the time to be so laid back? The reduced movement comment was so irresponsible.

Shehas, is it because she isn't registered?

dottypotter · 12/05/2016 14:04

typical soap opera high drama, always a crisis or an affair.

SheHasAWildHeart · 12/05/2016 14:15

Oh ok that makes sense now! I was wondering why they were so wide-eyed about it. Thanks.

OddBoots · 15/05/2016 18:12

I've just caught up with this.

I'm not sure I like where the surrogacy story is going, they didn't seem to have much of a relationship and much respect.

I know you can't work in early years if you live with someone convicted of a violent offence unless ofsted investigate and approve - there is currently a consultation to change this for people working on a site other than their home but there are no plans to change it for childminders. I'm guessing this will come out later in the series though.

Disqualification through association

scarlets · 15/05/2016 19:34

Episode 2 was less disappointing because there was a heavy focus on Roanna and Simon. The parents, ex-husband and ex-girlfriend were well-acted too.

I still find the plot holes and predictability tiresome and I don't care about most of the characters enough to be really looking forward to ep 3.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/05/2016 20:40

The cm thing bugs me as no way would ofsted allow it

Usually 1 under 1 , 3 under 5, 6 under 8

Occ can have a variation if sibling

But no way would allow 3 under 1

And if had her own 2 under 1 then again no way would be granted

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 15/05/2016 20:47

Blondes I think that's why they are so secretive about it - she's not registered. Like you said, the numbers are miles out, and she's got a husband whose just been released from jail.

Ray was nice in thst episode. They make the better couple.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/05/2016 20:50

Why didn't midwife use a proper cm?

She just reliese her child isn't going to get much attention from a lady who has her own baby twins?

Or did she feel sorry for twins mum as hubby in prison?

Chippednailvarnishing · 15/05/2016 20:54

I've devised a new drinking game, you take a drink everytime the midwife with the glasses calls someone "sweetheart"... Grin

scarlets · 15/05/2016 21:56

I've no idea why the "sweetheart" midwife was at the young couple's baby's christening last week, come to think of it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/05/2016 11:44

I can't get past someone not cutting up their food!! WTAFConfusedGrin

1AngelicFruitCake · 16/05/2016 14:23

I reckon that comment about cutting up food was a joke. It must be!

All this talk of Hermione Norris (Roanna) has made me start watching my Cold Feet boxset again. She's so good in that and she gives the character she plays so much depth. I still don't think it's believable to think her character in this would be living in the damp flat then with his parents.

LizKeen · 16/05/2016 14:36

I am really disappointed in this series so far. Loved the first series but its just so unbelievable now.

Alisvolatpropiis · 17/05/2016 16:54

I was reading along and did have something to say about the actual storylines however saw the post about who LeopardCoat lady is and am just Shock

TrixieBernadette · 17/05/2016 21:15

I'm actually not wanting to watch this at the moment, took a break from working so I could watch, and it's almost unbearable!

CremeEggThief · 17/05/2016 21:16

You can tell something's going to go wrong with the childminder leaving her husband with all the kids. As if that would happen in RL!

CremeEggThief · 17/05/2016 21:18

Bing!

kinkytoes · 17/05/2016 21:22

Ambulance anyone?

TrixieBernadette · 17/05/2016 21:23

Wouldn't be their own child injured would it? And not on her watch? Has to be under the convicted criminal, without the insurance, and has to be broken, and he had to not phone emergency contact.

Meh. I was all into it till this week too!

CremeEggThief · 17/05/2016 21:24

Good grief!

TrixieBernadette · 17/05/2016 21:25

Oooh Paul Nicholls - wasn't he the one with his head wrapped in tinfoil in eastenders? Grin

TrixieBernadette · 17/05/2016 21:26

Ah Simon come here, I'll have you!!!

TrixieBernadette · 17/05/2016 21:27

I get the feeling Ray is going to play Rowena and then dump her........?
