I've just seen the new .

Hang on to your hats for a another round of pregnancy/childbirth bingo and the continuing adventures of the most drama-filled antenatal group and understaffed maternity unit in the country!

Previous thread here to remind yourselves of last series/loose ends and see if any of Bertie's predictions come true!

Really enjoyed tonight's episode. Much better than last weeks - less far-fetched!

Tigresswoods · 10/05/2016 22:31

Less far far fetched ? Maybe, but only slightly!

paniniswapx3 · 10/05/2016 23:21

I really enjoyed tonight's episode much more than last week - not a fan of Susie, Katherine Parkinson's character or the teenagers so was much better with those not in it too much.

Sad to see that mum die.

Hermione Norris is a great actress - hard to imagine giving up her lifestyle to end up acting like a mother to a teenager. I know we didn't see her affair in the first series but can only imagine it was very flattering to have a 25 year old interested in you when you're 40+ but I think the reality of the age difference is portrayed well here.

ellenanora5 · 11/05/2016 00:08

Tonight's was great, really enjoyed that, I have to say I do not like mum of twins husband, I don't know why, but it could be just the actor, I've never liked him in anything, and I don't trust him in this at all Hmm

I noticed in the opening credits that it was written by Gaynor Mellor, and Kay Mellor was creator and director, so I presume her daughter (Megan in Emmerdale) wrote it.

Or am I Confused

Xmasbaby11 · 11/05/2016 00:11

It's so ridiculous but I can't resist! There are too many characters to follow them all every week which is a shame.

emmalimesmom · 11/05/2016 06:50

yeah i noticed it was gaynor mellor thats now doing the writing, or gaynor faye as shes also known. she took over the writing of one of her moms other drama as well i think it was playing the field and that went shit. just hope this doesnt go the same way

SheHasAWildHeart · 11/05/2016 07:14

Better without the IT Crowd lady and her blog.
Simon's dad is well creepy.
Yes Jamie from EE. He needs his ex Sonia the amazing nurse.

kinkytoes · 11/05/2016 07:45

I wonder if Will Mellor is related to the writer?

paniniswapx3 · 11/05/2016 10:54

I think it's that Jill Halfpenny & Will Mellor don't make a believable couple at all that's the problem with those guys. Not sure why but I could never see them as a couple.

SheHasAWildHeart · 11/05/2016 11:13

I didn't watch series 1 and tbh apart from Dev & Jas, I find most of the couples unbelievable. I really like both Jill and Will but you're right they don't make a believable couple. Also that whiny blog lady, I don't know what her bloke sees in her. And don't get me started on Simon and his other half. Also EE's Jamie with his wife who later died, didn't look believable either.

lionheart70 · 11/05/2016 11:35

Too many stories going on. Any one of these stories alone would be enough.

Lots of issues with last night's episode. Where is this maternity unit where people just barge in randomly? Most delivery areas/ newborn wards are locked, so why could Jill Halfpenny 's character just walk in and hand over baby? Also why was she so ashamed of being a childminder?

Like the Roanna story tho, Hermione Norris is a really good actor.

seasidesally · 11/05/2016 11:51

wasnt Kim Doc Martins receptionist and in that strange C4 series about them Robot'ish dolls

really enjoyed last night but cant help thinking Rowena is a bit of a slapper

CountessOfStrathearn · 11/05/2016 13:03

Really disappointing to see lots of myths being perpetuated, along with that's weeks ones about breastfeeding but I've just seen one of the MWs say to the young mother with reduced fetal movements something like "there's not that much room to move now".

Bue · 11/05/2016 13:15

Totally agree Countess. I couldn't believe they included that comment about reduced FMs. And the anti-breastfeeding bullshit is giving me the absolute rage. First trying to get "hippy mum" to stop BF (the baby is only 9 months old FFS and I have never met a 9 month old child who is permanently attached to the boob as apparently hers was). And now that she has weaned (because she couldn't possibly keep up BF now that she's having loads of sex again with hubby) she can finally have an alcoholic drink Hmm. Maybe if she had had a few drinks over the past 9 months she wouldn't have become so bloody uptight!

mirage937 · 11/05/2016 16:31

Has Simons friend being in something recently she looked and sounded familiar

mirage937 · 11/05/2016 16:36

It was benidorm I think

SweetChickadee · 11/05/2016 16:39

ex-husband Ray is delicious.

Love Hermione Norris. Fab actor. I agree this weeks was better, but overall I really enjoy this show.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/05/2016 17:44

still loving it :)

its easy watching

purplepuppet · 11/05/2016 19:10

Is ex-husband Ray the policeman from Doc Martin?

desperatehousewife21 · 11/05/2016 20:52

Yeah he is but hasn't got his Cornish accent in this!

Seasidesally- yes blog lady was in doc Martin the early series as receptionist and also in Humans the robot programme. Loved that!

seasidesally · 11/05/2016 20:56

ah humans thats it,couldnt remember the name, yes it was good

Chippednailvarnishing · 11/05/2016 22:12

Just watching this on catch up, the midwife with glasses who calls everyone sweetheart drives me nuts...

Tigresswoods · 11/05/2016 22:31

Yes chipped she's awful. The most stupid, sappy midwife EVER!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/05/2016 22:53

Tbf to her, she has to look after so many women she probably can't remember anybody's name - it seems to be the most understaffed maternity department in the country!

It is so predictable though. You end up watching a scene and thinking 'I bet this will happen next' and it does. There's no surprises or twists.
