I've just seen the new .

Hang on to your hats for a another round of pregnancy/childbirth bingo and the continuing adventures of the most drama-filled antenatal group and understaffed maternity unit in the country!

Previous thread here to remind yourselves of last series/loose ends and see if any of Bertie's predictions come true!

OP posts:
Tigresswoods · 04/05/2016 08:14

Great for Jude & Rosie making a go of it but seriously 2 16 years with 2 under 1?! That's a whole series in itself?!

No one seemed too bothered about that did they?

NeedACleverNN · 04/05/2016 09:41

Well if you remember from the first series, she was put on birth control but chucked it down the toilet because she wanted to get pregnant again

OhHolyFuck · 04/05/2016 09:48

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a bit 'soap opera'

Why didn't they insist Rosie went to the hospital for a check up? You've just given birth in a skanky lift, cut the cord with God knows what, who knows what's happened to the placenta, would be bleeding everywhere and probably at the very least would need to notify someone that the baby has been born but no, let's take 2 babies to a freezing dump of a flat to be looked after by two young teens?!

dottypotter · 04/05/2016 12:58

irresponsible writing showing a 16 year old with two kids.

Couldn't even remember why the man was I prison what did he do?

When was it last on?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 04/05/2016 13:02

Robbed a bank, I think.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 04/05/2016 13:03

Not for much - something about wanting to take the kids out to eat, I think? I can't really remember. The last series must have been at least two years ago...

Figgygal · 04/05/2016 13:09

I only watched the first 10 minutes this morning and it all seemed a bit hysterical and I am so sick of what's her name's blog she comes across as a right smug twat and I love the actress who plays her she is so pretty!!

BertieBotts · 04/05/2016 14:09

Well that was weird Confused

Mum who gave birth in the toilet is about as subtle as a brick. Presumably it's not her partner's, as he's been away for a year and she doesn't want him to know she's been shagging around.

Kim's blog is the most sanctimonious bunch of twaddle.

I'm amused to see half my predictions have come true already. I'm going to be tedious and link them.

It will be about 9/10 months in the future
Well, I was spot on with that - Kim mentioned "Almost ten months actually".

Rosie is about to drop or has just given birth to new baby (because obv, she's so super fertile she gets pregnant after one shag twice)
Ding ding

Jude will be all shock confused and trying to do his GCSEs
He did alright with those (not sure why he only did four though - any guesses?)

she'll either be in a council flat or some kind of young mum's hostel because Susie succeeded in persuading her to leave when she found out she was pregnant again.
Not quite. Though her Dad's flat is a council place I think. I'm not sure how they are swinging that. IME the council really don't take too kindly to people effectively jumping the queue by transferring the lease. What happened to him, anyway? I can't remember. Why won't he be coming back to the flat for a while?

And she'll be on the verge of a breakdown because coping with 2 babies at once isn't as easy and fun as she thought it would be and now she wants to go back to school.
Could happen later I suppose.

Prison husband just out of jail, some kind of question mark over house. Not sure how mum is supposed to be fighting for it. Perhaps she'll be running a cupcake/"keep calm and carry on" shabby chic merchandise related business
Nope just a secret childminding business! Which doesn't seem to conform to any kind of OFSTED regulations.

two adopted kids...about to go off the rails due to absent dad and not being centre of attention because babies.
I reckon they are hinting at this because the daughter is always looking after the baby and plucked her eyebrows.

Husband is all awkward and doesn't know how to fit into this new role. Maybe he becomes a stay at home dad and then ponders his masculinity and looks sad a lot. Rohanna ends up bonding with the FIL because he encourages her secret drinking, fuelled by PND, and they rekindle their affair while she slips into alcoholism and keeps ignoring the baby.
Too early to tell I suppose.

Kim has hugely clingy separation anxiety riddled baby because she never let anybody else touch it in the first few months and is feeling all anxious about going back to work. Is still with Neil who is getting a bit fed up and feels pushed out and wants to tell her to get a grip.
Ding ding ding

Kim will end up feeling sorry for Rosie and tutoring her one to one but they can't study because she's got 2 babies screaming at her all the time. Kim is worried for the babies' health/safety because Rosie obv isn't coping but is too nice to call SS and instead probably gets herself too overinvolved.
Seems plausible but too early to tell.

Susie is dating but is generally exasperated with going between Rosie's house and trying to work and yelling at Jude at the same time. Jude is failing at his GCSEs but also dating somebody new and ignoring Rosie a bit and Rosie is sad. Kim and Susie bump into each other at Rosie's house and have huge argument and then mad sex on the kitchen table. (OK, maybe not. Not sure BBC is quite brave enough to include lesbian sex in this kind of drama yet.)
LOL, um, no.

Hugh Grant doctor continues to be aloof, selfish, clueless and empathy-less. Giant eyelash woman bats giant eyelashes at him and ignores this while waxing lyrical about what a wonderful not-husband he is. He makes excuses as to why he can't track down this woman but she will conveniently turn up.
Nope, he's disappeared.

Jasmin will have some kind of post-pregnancy problems like SPD which continues after the birth and she will continue to moan about how pregnancy has wrecked her body and it was supposed to end when the baby came out. Her/her husband's family will be pressuring her to have lots more babies (a boy this time) and she'll be saying no way, not ever.
Aww :( No, Jasmin's storyline is a bit depressing so far really.

I think Mammuzzamia was right when she said all my predictions are too plausible and not far fetched enough! Grin

Now I have questions.

Why did nobody phone an ambulance or the fire brigade to get Rosie out of the lift?! "What should I doooo? Oh I'll call my Dad." No you dimwit, phone an ambulance. Even if he was too panicked, why didn't Neil or Kim phone one??

Why is everyone still carrying gigantic 10 month olds around in those car seats as though they are newborns? They could at least pretend there's a baby in there, they are flinging the seats around like it's nothing. I was still using that kind of car seat by 10 months but they are heavy!

How did Rosie and Jude pack everything they own in two suitcases in about 10 seconds?

I thought all mums of twins were told about the possibility of TTTS early in pregnancy. Why weren't Jasmin and Dev? Come to think of it, two sets of twins in a group that small seems implausible.

Surely the hospital can work out given about thirty minutes who gave birth to that baby. They'll have CCTV of the waiting area, so they just have to look back and see who went in and the staff could identify their own patients. It's a maternity waiting room! So they can obviously discount any woman who is still pregnant or recently postnatal. That leaves them a pretty small number of possible women. They would also immediately see that the "young girl" who left the toilet before Leopardprint Coat didn't exist.

Hmm.

seasidesally · 04/05/2016 14:18

i wasnt tpld about TTT,but i was told to pack my hospital bag at 28wks

all the rest seem pretty accurate, have you somehow got hold of a script Grin

BertieBotts · 04/05/2016 14:30

Ooh that's a point - maybe Rosie already had her hospital bag packed and that's why they were packed.

OK I haven't had twins, so perhaps I'm wrong about TTTS - I see threads asking about it on here a lot though, and I swear I remember a poster in my midwife's office, so assumed it was common knowledge. Perhaps not!

seasidesally · 04/05/2016 14:35

it maybe now i had mine yrs ago 10+

i still like your thinking

NeedACleverNN · 04/05/2016 14:35

Not quite. Though her Dad's flat is a council place I think. I'm not sure how they are swinging that. IME the council really don't take too kindly to people effectively jumping the queue by transferring the lease. What happened to him, anyway? I can't remember. Why won't he be coming back to the flat for a while?

He died didn't he? Van accident. Did he die or did he go to a specialist hospital? I'm sure he died

Frazzled2207 · 04/05/2016 14:36

I thought it was even more HmmShockConfused than the first series. The lift thing was just ridiculous CALL 999! Even more daft than the baby in the toilet.

Have I understood correctly that susie and kim were an item but she has now fallen for neil-is he the baby's father? And he is Jude's dad too but is susie jude's mum??!! What relation does that make dinah to emily [head hurts]

Frazzled2207 · 04/05/2016 14:38

Jude's gcse's were re-sits. That explains why he was only doing 4/5 and that it clearly isn't set in august which is when exam results come out.

5BlueHydrangea · 04/05/2016 14:52

Twins x 2 in that small a friendship group is unlikely but.. At DD's small - 1 form entry - school last year 2 of the teachers had twins within a few months of each other. Both had a boy and a girl.

I guess for a bit of fantasy it's good. Loved the last series, so far so good with this one!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 04/05/2016 15:30

It was very dramatic wasn't it? I hope it calms down a bit!

Frazzled - Emily is Jude's half sister and Dinah's aunt.

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 04/05/2016 19:24

I thought he had died too! So maybe they were being a bit flippant saying "He won't be going back there for a while". Maybe he owned it? But he didn't seem that well off. Perhaps that's juat handy soap style reshuffling of people into existing houses to re-use the set, though.

I knew they were resits but I wondered why he wasn't resitting everything. Oh well, maybe he only needed those particular ones for college or something.

Yes - Jude is Susie and Neil's son. Susie and Neil were best friends since way back and conceived with a turkey baster or something. Susie and Kim got together years later and wanted a baby together, decided to use same donor dad but Kim developed feelings for him and they conceived "the other way". When Susie found out she was angry and betrayed. To be fair, I thought she had a point. Kim was horrible to her over the whole thing, and totally wet. "Oh we couldn't help falling in love". Kim was also a teacher at Jude and Rosie's school before she went on maternity leave. IIRC Jude found it really embarrassing that his mum was dating his teacher and Kim wanted to keep it quiet for him but Susie thought she was ashamed of being in a lesbian relationship.

southeastdweller · 04/05/2016 19:32

I'm fairly sure Rosie's dad didn't die, though he was very ill.

foxessocks · 04/05/2016 21:21

I've just caught up with this. Wow it really has gone anti breast feeding! Wean her off the breast ASAP because she has a tooth!

TrixieBernadette · 04/05/2016 21:26

See I took that comment by Neal as a joke - which Kim misinterpreted as him wanting her to stop as she was already on edge about the attachment/ leaving her thing

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 04/05/2016 21:44

At my school you could only take four resits - I'm not sure if that's changed. Or if there was any leeway, I didn't take resits, so they could have made it up to scare us.

I didn't think Rosie's dad had died. Didn't he have a bad head injury? And he was going to need lots of care so she couldn't stay with him to have the baby.

The whole breastfeeding thing was weird.

Frazzled2207 · 04/05/2016 21:47

Bertie
Thanks for clearing that up-bonkers!

foxessocks · 04/05/2016 21:50

Oh yes possibly it was meant as a joke that would make sense I guess!

scarlets · 05/05/2016 21:12

I was disappointed. It's all about dramatic, implausible storylines with very little character development. The lack of attention to detail such as patient confidentiality, hygiene, the presence of cctv in hospitals, was unfortunate. There is zero chemistry between the young couple. S1 was a bit soapy and shallow too, but at least I found myself caring about the women then, unlike now. I'll watch ep 2 (mostly because I want to know what happens with Rohanna and her FiL) to see if it gets more compelling.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/05/2016 00:44

I loved it - also loves s1

I'm rubbish with names

So teenager literally got preg few weeks after giving birth

Twins mums whose hubby is in jail / she can't legally look after her friends /nurse baby - even if she was a registered cm she wouldn't be allowed 3 under 1

Nurse should be fired for revealing Confidential info

Sad about preg twins mum and one baby stealing more nutrients

Surrogate mums mum obviously was preg as the way she covers up self when asked and joked she was fat and the fact she was leaking milk thro her top

Sure I've missed something out :)
