Ah sorry to hear about your ill littlies nickel. Hope they feel better soon.

Do you know, I think I would even stay in a hotel somewhere on my own and have food in the restaurant and have a relax in the bar or in my room with some books I would want to read. That sounds relaxing.

Thanks rich. Did you visit Betty's Tea Rooms when you were there? Hope you didn't wait too long at your appt.

I'm trying to sell our double pushchair to a friend of a friend. She sounds interested and I would love to see what our car boot looks like empty after 6 years! Hope it comes off but you never want to ask for too much money for something but at the same time you don't want to give it away.

pixieg1rl · 23/03/2016 21:35

Poor you nickel, still how thoughtful of your DH to keep out of is so as not to add to your burdens Confused

Richtea19 · 23/03/2016 21:47

nickel sorry about your crap week. So much sickness going around at the moment, it's normally a sign that it's school holidays coming up! So thoughtful of your DH!!!!

Mine still as "flu", he better feel better soon as I have a ceiling for him to paint on Friday!!!

bk hope your mum is on the mend.

Richtea19 · 23/03/2016 21:50

kelly yes we went to Betty's. York is one of our favourite places, and we are planning on returning for our Christmas weekend break this year too!

KellyHb · 23/03/2016 22:09

Ah. I would love to go there at Christmas too rich. I don't know why I like Betty's so much, I think it's the olde worlde style. There's always a huge queue to get in too.

orphan · 23/03/2016 22:11

Fizz Friday has arrived early at my house. I've also done some Easter baking and find a mini egg topped cupcake goes very nicely with prosecco!

I've been recording the Night Manager so will probably binge watch during the hols. TH has been on my radar since War Horse and also an arty indie film called Archipelago. I find a lot to 'appreciate' in his acting...Grin

KellyHb · 23/03/2016 22:16

Oh yes orph, are you finished for the hols now too? I need to start watching TNM! Ditto on TH in War Horse. I very much appreciated his cavalry charge scene.

Billie Piper and Laurence Fix have split up. Its a shame, I thought they were very good together.

KellyHb · 23/03/2016 22:17

Laurence Fix?? Fox! Grin

MaddieMoo82 · 23/03/2016 22:24

Really kelly Sad loooove Lawrence fox! He singing now too.

Ilovelblue · 23/03/2016 23:06

Evening ladies. Had friends over for tea but they went a while ago and I've washed up and watched the situation in Belgium on the news.

We did a minute's silence this morning at work and I was utterly disgusted with one guy who was so completely ignorant of the whole thing. When we had the silence for the Paris bombings, he made a big point of walking down the office into the kitchen to make a drink and today, as the alarm sounded, he got up and went outside. I cannot believe why he thinks this is a clever thing to do. I'm ashamed to say he works in our office.

Kelly I love York and yes, you must go to Betty's. The Treasurer's House is also good (it's National Trust but you can use the cafe without paying the entrance fee) and they do some lovely scones of different flavours. I think I had apple ones the last time I was there.

There was a "trending now" thread on here earlier in the week about a woman who was going to a spa for the weekend with her friend and a fellow mother from school told her she was deserting her family and basically should be taken out and shot at dawn. It was very funny and posters were getting very steamed up about the whole thing - I thought of it when you said you were off to York. See if you can find it.

My aunt, who does not live in the UK, sent me a letter which came today and which commented that I am always ill. I think I've used being off colour a couple of times for not responding to her letters in double quick time. I must write back and say to have suffered only two colds in this dreadful wet winter we've had is quite mild compared with some. What does she expect when it's p*ssed it down for weeks on end and hasn't been cold enough to kill off all the bugs.

Off to bed now. Night all!

Ilovelblue · 23/03/2016 23:08

Nickel what a thoughtful man Mr Nickel is. I am sure you appreciate his kindness????

apsara03 · 23/03/2016 23:39

Enjoy your weekend kelly only way of maintaining sanity

pixie can't believe how quick you are reading. I'm about 1/3 into DIA.
Just waiting for tram after rare night out with a friend - will probably pay for it tomorrow Hmm. Still we started planning campervan trip to Oz for next summer which would we fab if we can pull it off. We've got friends who have just gone back to Melbourne and she wants to scatter some of her Dad's ashes on there. Dangerous what 2 large glasses of wine leads to
BK hope there are no more complications with your mum X
Got to admit that TH doesn't really do it for me but can understand the obsession Grin

Nickel45 · 23/03/2016 23:45

Have to admit thoughtful wasn't the first word that came to mind!!

kel, bet you can't wait! I go away every few months without DH, although mostly to my parents, but I have to take the kids when I go away! Not quite the same!! Hope you get more sleep tonight xx I'm a night owl too, but really struggle with the early mornings.

orph those paintings are amazing! Wow.

Shocked about BP and LF. I really like LFox too 😟

Must get some sleep, night all.

orphan · 24/03/2016 09:25

Morning! Am feeling rather frustrated need to speed dial Rupe cos I had an unfamiliar urge this morning - to read a REAL book!! I really fancied rereading a biography of the Brontes (Juliet Barker one) and rushed to my bookshelves to find my copy, but alas dear reader, I couldn't find the blooming book. Oh well, back to catching up on the superb ff - rhubarb I've been saving yours. Really looking forward to reading the P&P story.Smile

Oh and for Mhairi McFarlane fans, she's got a new book out early next month.

V sad about the BP breakup; they'd always seemed v happy together. I really liked the strong sense of family bond between LF and Emilia Fox in the Bear Grylls programme they took part in. 'Family ' seemed v important to both of them.

orphan · 24/03/2016 17:44

Gosh it's quiet on here today. Am wondering if you have all hotfooted it out to SA to ambush BA now that I'm back in Blighty and the jeep seat is free...

Of course woof's idea of an ambush is very much focused on the bush.

Cold and distinctly unSpring like here so I'm reminiscing fondly about the ridiculously rich hot chocolates we had in Italy. Gave us the very best chocolate moustaches.

Grinschool holidaysGrin

Ilovelblue · 24/03/2016 18:47

Whoopee. No work now till Tuesday.

I'm here orphan. Definitely not hotfooted it over to SA. Though if CJ wants to come and help me celebrate my birthday next week, I am happy to pick him up from the airport.

Still struggling with these varifocals. Gave up this afternoon as I was doing an online/conference call type training session and couldn't read the screen.

MaddieMoo82 · 24/03/2016 18:57

Same ilove yay! Although why does everyone want everything doing right at the end of the day.... Cue pre bank holiday work manic-ness!

Felt awful doing an assessment of a student and had to give her a rubbish mark... Great start to their bank holiday weekend Sad

Nope no SA trip for me orphan unfortunately although I wish I was hoping on a plane over there tonight! More like a pilgrimage to Cornwall to one of mrmads childhood haunts tomorrow.

Loving rhubarbs new story Smile

Right off for a soak in the bath then mrmads is getting wine and fish chips Grin

Richtea19 · 24/03/2016 18:57

Yippee a long weekend!

I'm here sitting down with a large glass of wine waiting for the takeaway to arrive. I love this feeling of four days off!!

Nickel45 · 24/03/2016 19:02

ilove jiggle them round your face a bit, and see if they are just sitting in the wrong place. I still go back to the opticians fairly often they must be sick of me and get them to put them back in the right place.

Still here orph, but sick kids and work are getting in the way of me being on here. I have been reading more real books though since the ff slowed down. Real chick lit, not very difficult to concentrate on, but hey ho, baby steps, eh!

Bath time beckons, best go check the little cherubs don't drown or more likely splash half a bathtub of water over the floor! :)

Ilovelblue · 24/03/2016 19:27

I've spilled half a glass of wine down my front. What a waste!

Nickel I've jiggled half the day and moved my PC monitor up and down and all sorts. I'll persevere this weekend but might have to go back to the optician.

Nickel45 · 24/03/2016 19:39

I do feel like I am slightly out of focus all the time, and that I have to actually look at something properly, rather than just glance, but you do get used to them, you just have to persevere. For stairs now, I just look ahead and hope, it was too weird looking down. The joys of getting old, eh!

pixieg1rl · 24/03/2016 20:35

Well, being off work is exhausting. Usual 6am wake up from DS, then I got carried away getting all the admin done, we had a walk, pub lunch and then home.

That hot chocolate looks gorgeous orph.

KellyHb · 24/03/2016 21:08

Busy day here. Didn't have a chance to get on here. Unfortunately I resorted to getting the arts and crafts out this morning and the day descended into children type madness from there onwards. The house was chaotic and I had to laugh as my parents visited, after spending 10 minutes here basically praised me for going on my York trip and said I should be going for 2 weeks after seeing my kids. What worried parents?? Grin

Loads of dishes to do but DH is off tomorrow so we'll do them together in the morning.

Oo pub lunch pix. Very nice.

Bizarrely my parents wanted to borrow the Outlander boxset I have. I warned them some episodes might be a bit risque for them but they seemed not bothered. Hmm we'll see.

Ilovelblue · 24/03/2016 22:29

I meant to say but we have a woman at work who is as thin as a rake and dresses in the tighest clothes imaginable and of course not a shred of cellulite anywhere. The guys love her, dribble almost when she walks past and the women are less than impressed. She's the type who rarely talks to women unless she has to and holds court with her favourite men etc etc. There's one guy who seems to have been trying his luck with her who is genuinely old enough to be her father. It's funny and I literally laughed out loud when I heard but why are men so shallow and predictable?
