Morning all.

Sunny here. Twin is off swimming for the first time this morning with DH. Confused They were going to go yesterday but the pool shuts at 1 on a Saturday. Ridiculous time to shut.. Budget cuts more likely.

Enjoy your pub lunch rich. I used to love those. We used to go regularly before we had kids.

I've found out I'm not able to go to my Uncle's funeral unfortunately. We haven't got any childcare. Its the day before Good Friday but it's not until later in the afternoon. We were going to drop the kids off at his Mams down south on the way but the in-laws are going to a do early evening so we wouldn't be able to get back in time and I didn't really want to go to the funeral by myself. Plus my Aunty says the traffic round their way would be shocking if we're trying to get away quickly back up to East Anglia before tea.

My Uncle's having a memorial service in May so I'll be going to that and hopefully the in-laws will be around to babysit.

MaddieMoo82 · 20/03/2016 10:15

Morning all Smile
Sorry to hear that kelly at least you tried and fingers crossed you'll be able to go in May.
Ooh ilove that sounds lovely. Hmmm never have the problem of left over clotted cream here!
Food shopping and then off to mils (without MrMads Hmm) so nothing exciting.
Hoping the swimming goes well kelly

Ilovelblue · 20/03/2016 10:31

*Kelly I'm sure your aunt will be pleased that you tried and it sounds as if you will be able to go to the memorial.

Maddie guess I'm talking to an expert about clotted cream! Are you a jam then cream girl or cream then jam? I can never remember which is in Devon and which is in Cornwall.

Cake is in the oven now so off for a very quick shower before I hoover up and iron a table cloth!

pixieg1rl · 20/03/2016 10:35

God, this talk of scones and cream isn't helping when I haven't eaten today. Heading off to the shops now, always a bad idea when you're hungry.

My phone started shouting 'what have we just learned!" at me in a meeting in Thursday ilove which was slightly embarrassing.

MaddieMoo82 · 20/03/2016 10:46

Yes ilove I'm well practised in the art!
I stick true to my roots and use the Devon method - cream first then jam! Bloody Cornish and their jam then cream witchcraft Grin
Oh now I want one!

apsara03 · 20/03/2016 11:23

Scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream. Smile feeling hungry now. Would go home and bake a batch of scones only made a lemon drizzle cake yesterday. Must be getting back some sort of work life balance as there has been homemade cake in the house for 2 weeks now. Always sign I'm too busy if I can't find time to bake. Cake
Just been out with the fog and DH1 while DH2 had rugby training (some coaches with v sore heads). The weather is beautiful here. Hope you all have a lovely day xx

That's funny pixie. Did you have to explain it away or not?

Ilovelblue · 20/03/2016 18:22

Afternoon tea all done now, washing up sorted but left to drain as I'm pretty tired. It's much easier when we all go out but was practical this time and I got to cuddle my friend's baby. No scones left but a few slices of sponge cake if anyone wants to pop round.....

Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow but hey, it's only four days this week and the week after, come to think of it. And my birthday as well!

MaddieMoo82 · 20/03/2016 18:55

Evening all. Ooh ilove if you were closer I'd pop round! And even bring clotted cream from the local dairy... It's lovely Smile glad all went well, are you doing much for your birthday?
aspara your photo looks lovely. No such luck with the weather here, cold and dull!
Looking forward to TNM tonight and hoping for some TH bare bottom action again! Grin

Rhubarb01 · 20/03/2016 20:42

Evening everyone. All this talk of scones and jam and cream makes me think of summer or the very least Spring. They are best served in a sunny cafe garden somewhere in deepest Devon or similar. I know just such a lovely one in the Somerset village of Winsford in which I have whiled away an hour or three with double helpings!

Not sure about any TH bare bottom action Mads but I understand it's a very tense episode - although that may depend on whether I understand what's going on!

I know most people like long weekends and I do really at heart but I have to confess that the two short weeks coming up cause me enormous work problems because of deadlines so I am actually dreading it and will probably have to work over part of next weekend or I will miss it - bah humbug!

Thank you for the lovely words about the new story. I have to confess I hummed and hahed all week over whether to go down that route but I will now persevere with the rest of it, so thanks again.

MaddieMoo82 · 20/03/2016 20:52

Please continue with it rhub I really enjoyed the first chapter Smile

pixieg1rl · 20/03/2016 21:10

No TNM for me tonight, MrP is watching the F1. Apologies to anyone who enjoys it, but I think F1 is one of the dullest things around.

Ilovelblue · 20/03/2016 21:32

Oh I agree with you there pixie. I have a colleague who goes to the Grand Prix at Silverstone every year without fail. I can't think of anything worse.

TNM tonight has overtones of James Bond films. I do rather like TH but I have to say he still reminds me of Ian Waite from Strictly.

I should go and clean the kitchen but it will have to wait till tomorrow. I will carry on watching TNM.

MaddieMoo82 · 20/03/2016 22:02

Arghh had to bail 10 mins into TNM as DS woke and took me ages to settle him. Ended up doing the dishes and bins etc... Not exactly how I planned it!
Formula 1 is one of the only sports MrMads doesn't watch so don't have to endure it, have lots of friends that love it though...

News and then bed for me I think, can't keep my eyes open.

pixieg1rl · 20/03/2016 22:10

Ooh, one of the mercenaries in TNM was the shouty Scottish sergeant(?) in OG1. He was the one who shouted at Molly to pick up her bag.

Rhubarb01 · 20/03/2016 22:13

Oh anyone who missed TNM definitely catch up when you can and watch. It was a cracking episode and I actually kept up with what was happening plus there's some khaki combat action going on - I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's all very nicely poised for next week. TH grows on me week on week - I think he conveys such a lot with just the merest twitch of his jaw!

F1 - mmh I used to quite like it but it's got duller every year and I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it - certainly not at the expense of TNM.

Rhubarb01 · 20/03/2016 22:14

pix I thought he looked familiar.

Ilovelblue · 20/03/2016 22:15

Oh was he pixie? I don't think I remember him. It was quite nailbiting, wasn't it? Did you know John le Carre has given his permission for a second series? (I didn't realise JLC was still alive).

pixieg1rl · 20/03/2016 22:22

I'm still watching it, TH wears his combats rather high

Rhubarb01 · 20/03/2016 22:27

I know what you mean but at least it's not quite Simon Cowell style is it? My previous research suggests that the degree of low slungness is directly proportional to the length of torso - I'm sure there's a formula in there somewhere.

Rhubarb01 · 20/03/2016 22:39

DD has thrown some other facts into the mix here - apparently if your total arm span is taller than your height you are a wide rectangle. If your total arm span is shorter than your height you are a tall rectangle and if your arm span and height match you are a square. That must figure somehow.

Nickel45 · 20/03/2016 22:56

ilove not only is JLC still alive, he had a cameo in TNM, in the restaurant where Corky has a hissy fit! He's the one who ordered the lobster (I think?).

Our Girl and Captain James Addicts Thread XXXIV
pixieg1rl · 20/03/2016 23:13

Maybe it's less to do with torso length and more to do with crotch, TH doesn't seem that short on the torso (see exhibit a), maybe BA has a very long crotch Blush which makes trousers sit very low....

Ilovelblue · 20/03/2016 23:19

Oh yes Nickel, I remember that scene. TH apologised to him and promised it wouldn't happen again. I think he arranged to pay for JLC's meal too?

Night night everyone.

apsara03 · 21/03/2016 06:26

I had TNM on but am trying to sort photo book for holiday last year before credit expires so need to watch it properly
I agree with comments about F1. I struggle to see any positives. It is environmentally unfriendly and perpetuates sexist attitudes.
