I'm not familiar with the story, but the trailers for it look awesome.

I can't see anything with both Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston in, as well as Olivia Colman being bad, can you?

I'd definitely whip them off for Matthew Goode.

Lottapianos · 24/02/2016 13:38

'I'd never take my knickers off for Benedict though'

Oh me neither. They would melt off all by themselves Grin

squoosh · 24/02/2016 13:40

Oh Lotta. Tsk.

At least we won't fall out over him though!

Lottapianos · 24/02/2016 13:42

So long as you keep your mitts to yourself, we'll be fine Wink

squoosh · 24/02/2016 13:44

My mitts will be kept firmly to myself. But if you ever come across him pestering me with sexual attentions in the butler's pantry just know that the passion is on his side alone!

OnlyLovers · 24/02/2016 13:48

See, Matthew Goode really is weak-chinned.

So's Benedict, actually. Are they all just too posh?

I'd ride Benedict into next Tuesday, chinless wonder or not.

squoosh · 24/02/2016 13:49

I agree that Matthew is a bit weak chinned. But I still would, that posh gene pool could do with some of my strong peasanty chin genes!

mercifulTehlu · 24/02/2016 13:51

Yup Lotta - I'm with you on that one. Squoosh - yes, it's the character rather than just the looks. Charm, but with utter confidence and a layer of cool reserve. Most of the public schoolboys I've known in rl have been more the bread-roll chucking, rugby-song-singing types. Plenty of utter confidence, but not a lot of cool reserve Grin.

OnlyLovers · 24/02/2016 14:21

squoosh, I have to ask: what would you be doing with the other hand in the knicker-wrestling scenario? Grin

Also, back to the show for a minute – she wasn't backward in coming forward, was she? Sophie, I mean. 'I'd like one of your many faces to sleep with me tonight.'

I mean, buy a man a drink first, at least.

Or did they know each other already, more than it looked like they did in the show? Is this fleshed out more in the novel?

Lottapianos · 24/02/2016 14:33

Yes come on squoosh, do tell. You have a way with words so I'm looking forward to this Grin

squoosh · 24/02/2016 14:34

I think I'd be toying with his lapel in a ladylike fashion whilst tinkling merrily at some amusing posh boy anecdote he'd just recounted.

mercifulTehlu · 24/02/2016 14:35

Weak-chinned? Ahem.

OnlyLovers · 24/02/2016 14:35

Oh, toying with his lapel. Of course. I don't believe you

squoosh · 24/02/2016 14:35

Ying and yang you see. Ladylike with one hand, brazen strumpet with the other.

squoosh · 24/02/2016 14:37

That picture of BC tearing his tie off in a 'my good lady I do believe I'm about to ravish you' fashion has made me snigger.

mercifulTehlu · 24/02/2016 14:38

Hmm I think I'd be more yang and yang Grin. Undoing his shirt buttons with the other hand.

Pooseyfrumpture · 24/02/2016 15:52

Have you seen the naked except for small magazine Hiddleston photos from High Rise? Grin

Snoopadoop · 24/02/2016 16:01

I'm not fussed by Tom's looks but I have a feeling he's so suave and charming that 20 mins after meeting him you'd be discreetly (okay maybe not so discreetly) using one hand to wrestle your own knickers off and throw them over your shoulder.

I think you are probably right! :)

Lottapianos · 24/02/2016 16:03

Wow. Thanks for those photos merciful. Wow.

mercifulTehlu · 24/02/2016 17:16

No worries, Lotta - just a few of my faves Wink. So, how long until the next episode...? I might have to watch a couple of Sherlock episodes before then, to get my besuited posh boy fix. Sherlock's suits are pleasingly... fitted.

Dear me, apologies everyone. I'm sure this thread started off as an intelligent appreciation of a fine piece of drama. Some of us have been lowering the tone .

Lottapianos · 24/02/2016 17:17

God, I know - the suits, the shirts, THE COAT! Wowza!

New Years Day for the new series I believe so a wee while yet Grin

mercifulTehlu · 24/02/2016 17:22

The hair, the hands on the violin, the sheet, the riding crop... and, as you say, the coat. Damn... I thought my Sherlock fixation was abating a little. My previous MN username was a Sherlock-related one. I name-changed to mark my rehabilitation. Oops Grin.

OnlyLovers · 24/02/2016 17:27

Speaking of, um, fitted suits, that one they had Ben Whishaw in in London Spy was pretty pleasing. That episode where they made him get in a bath fully clothed and then change.

I can't find any images but I'll keep trying!

squoosh · 24/02/2016 17:29
