I'm not familiar with the story, but the trailers for it look awesome.

I can't see anything with both Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston in, as well as Olivia Colman being bad, can you?

Re. the lack of condom, you don't often see it in film / TV do you? Dramatic licence I suppose. It would add somewhat to the running time to show the characters as they fumbled about in the bedside drawers and had the awkward "do you have a...?" "Erm, somewhere, hang on, I'll look here, you check my wallet" conversation.

I'm really enjoying the series, but OC is miscast imo, although I might be biased as I can't stand her.

At the risk of sounding vulgar, wouldn't Roper rather notice he was being treated to sloppy seconds given that him and Jed headed off to say their farewells within 15 minutes of her shag with TH?

Mayor I love OC too. The sports day scene was so moving. I think they were real tears.

Enjoying the pace and the actors, and the scenery though a bit OTT, but

several people did stupid things in one episode:

the upstanding Gov guy trusting the woman who wanted to sack OC, when he knew already there are insiders, what a blunder! though of course that lead to a lot of action;
OC landing the poor lawyer in it knowing he must be under the surveillance - she could be that naive? At least she should have supplied him with bodyguards.
Pine shagging Jed BEFORE the end of operation - just why?? putting both of them and the operation in danger. Again how could Roper not watch him still just in case?;
Jed phoning Pine in the night - just wtf! again putting both in danger.

Also agree Roper unlikely to be going to the docks himself in real world.

Poor Corky is right but nobody listens. Not sure why didn't he tell Roper about Jed's night visit in R's absence - he knows he's nothing to lose now. He was VERY good though portraying pent-up lust for Pine when they had a quite row after Jed's night visit earlier on. Wasn't so pent-up when he was drunk of course Grin!

I find Jed seriously annoying now. Stupid questioning 'who are you?' He's not gonna tell you, love, is he! It's 'love' with Roper and 'that's not what he bought on the 5th ave' (or something) in the same dialogue! etc

She probably did have a shower Grin. They were sort-of late meeting up with Roper because she "had a headache" ie had a shower.

Love OC. Though I won't put it past her to know what was going to happen to the Spanish lawyer and still went ahead with it. If she's a proper Le Carre character she would do that. Very cold blooded, these spymasters/mistresses.

And Corky is fab.

Corky isn't telling Roper about Jonathan and Jed because he's conflicted by his attraction to JOnathan. On the one hand he'd like JP out of the way but on the other, he yearns for him. See Ian McKellan as Iago.

That was good. Sex scene too brief for my liking. This weeks episode seemed a bit slow and lacking meat, compared to previous weeks. I thought Corky didn't tell Roper about Jed and Pine, only because there wasn't anything 'concrete' to tell him.

Surely it's time to suspend belief in the 'real world' when watching something like this? It's a weak imitation of James Bond and Carre was ex MI5 so although he would know how things worked from the inside, it doesn't mean his books or a TV adaptation are accurate to the letter. When did we ever see James Bond use a condom? All that has changed post HIV is that he doesn't have several women per film.
I'm not sure there is any point in picking over the action and TNM and saying 'they'd not have behaved like XYZ' because they are! Either Carre took a kind of poetic licence in his book, or TV has sexed it up to keep us interested.

I thought the opposite! I enjoyed it more than last week's (or the previous week's) as it finally seems to be picking up pace. And they left the Mallorcan compound. Huzzah!

So tired of Jed and her mournful looks into the distance though.

But there's no way I'd feel even remotely inclined to cheat on my very dangerous arms dealer boyfriend. Definitely not worth the risk! Even for a pert bottomed TH.
