Belated happy birthday nickel, hope you enjoyed you dayCake
pix glad you enjoyed Sarah Millican, well deserved by the sounds of it-sorry to hear about work.
Forecast to be good weather here this weekend, so might get out on the allotment.
Have a good weekendGrin

Rhubarb01 · 12/03/2016 08:02

Morning all. Belated celebrations to you Nickel. I try to ignore my birthdays as much as possible now - a bit bah humbug but I'm glad you had a nice time.

Sorry about the job worries pix. My DH was told last Friday he was under notice of possible redundancy - again! This has happened several times and he thinks it's definite this time although he'd relish the chance to try something else after being employed effectively man and boy for donkey's years so it's not quite the same for him.

Ilove swimming costumes - firstly I try to avoid swimming at all costs and don't do beach holidays - similar skin, sun lotion allergy type issues - and secondly I never try them on in the shop because I reckon shop mirrors in cubicles have a strange warp to them especially under artificial lights that makes everything look ten times worse (my story and I'm sticking to it). Whatever I've bought they just have to do so I usually go for dark colour, good coverage and preferably ones that won't attract attention.

As for the knickers/friends - very true. I've always wondered why the biggest pants are called 'Briefs'. I accidentally bought a pack a little while ago not really paying attention at the time but I have to say those are damn comfy pants - ideal for the winter!

It's a day of taxiing to younger DD today and a friend for shopping - I will just wander around by myself to kill the time but it could be worse. Hope you all have a good day.

MaddieMoo82 · 12/03/2016 08:11

Morning all. DS awake earlier today than he has been all week!! How does that happen when we don't need to go anywhere early Hmm

rhu I agree with you about the cubicle mirrors...not flattering at all and who would want to see the 360 view that they give you anyway!

Lovely morning here. Piles of washing to do and might actually get some dried outside. Out with MrMads family tomorrow for lunch.... Need to spend today building up for that....

Ilovelblue · 12/03/2016 08:14

Morning all. Am sure you will be delighted to hear that the fourth swimming costume not only fits but looks quite nice on. Not that I'm one to go strutting around but it cleverly hides flatters my tummy area.

It seems to have gone quiet on here lately. I think this is the first time a thread has extended beyond a month (started 7/2).

Has orphan gone to ground or is she holed up with her PE teacher in the gym cupboard?

Richtea19 · 12/03/2016 08:58

It's a foggy one here this morning. But hoping for sunshine.

Glad you got sorted with a swim suit ilove, I am still trying to hang on to the bikini days... Although I am sure soon it will be not "age appropriate" and I'll be in a one piece! We are going on holiday with another family and she is super tiny and petite. Not until Aug so I have time!!

Very quiet from orph and woof, maybe they are using their skills on our favourite capital in SA !

Richtea19 · 12/03/2016 08:58

Captain!!

icemistOBE · 12/03/2016 10:37

Morning Smile

I wouldn't be surprised if orphan and woof made their way to SA Wink

Yes, let's not forget orph's talent for disguising herself as an item of military hardware. She's probably a land rover seat and enjoy the gentle caress of CJ's bottom. Let's hope he didn't have beans last night.

Rhubarb01 · 12/03/2016 15:45

Back from shopping trip at last. I noticed that M&S are selling swimming dresses in stretchy materials that reach down to mid thigh! I was torn over them thinking a) that's a good idea & b) bet that would attract attention because it's quite unusual. I wish they were popular because I'd be much happier in something like that, although I hate my knees so maybe an Edwardian knitted stripey combination suit would be better or maybe the full wet suit!

I also saw some new Ladybird books. I don't know if anyone else has seen them and I'm behind the times but they look just like the old ones with the pictures etc but they are humorous and for adults. The best one was "How it works - The Mum." I was stood in the shop on my own chuckling so much another lady picked it up and started to read. It's full of truisms but written just like one of the old reading books for kids. They also have ones for Hipsters, Dating, Hangovers, The shed. It passed the time.

BK28 · 12/03/2016 15:52

rich think my bikini days passed me by in my teens! Glad you found something ilove

Just spent the morning out car buying for the DS. Really nice feeling spending his money for a change!! Just another landmark as a mum.

Just putting up the ironing board in time to watch the rugby.
ice great win for the men in green!

pixieg1rl · 12/03/2016 17:09

MrP bought 'The Mum' for me for Mother's Day rhu, I agree very funny

moojangles · 12/03/2016 17:13

moojangles · 12/03/2016 20:38

It is a work of sheer genius

Nickel45 · 12/03/2016 22:21

That's brilliant mooj!

Just turned on the TV to see Jude Law and Matt Damon in The Talented Mr Ripley .... That's my evening sorted :)

Ilovelblue · 12/03/2016 22:34

Evening all.

Done a massive cooking fest this afternoon. I cannot squeeze anything else into the freezer at all. There was a huge amount of washing up sadly. Just finished now. I am not a tidy cook I'm afraid. Gave my elderly neighbour a few bits too - should keep him going for a day or two!

One of my team leaders at work got a Ladybird book in our Secret Santa - is there one called The Midlife Crisis? He said it was very apt anyway.

Richtea you are very lucky you can still wear a bikini. I'm afraid I'm with BK on that one! But Mooj, I am the exact opposite of needing a Bravissimo swimsuit (or bra for that matter). I think in that respect, Richtea and I are very similar!

Just remembering that around this time last year, we had CJ out on tour. My birthday is in April and I recall taking him into work with me and handing out my birthday cakes. No such luck this time, unless he flies back from SA to join me!
