Evening all.
Sorry to here about your bugger up with work hours jen hopefully you can have a day to yourself later in the year.
Had a lovely morning at the cinema with MrMads watching Star Wars. After moaning on that it wasn't really my thing I really enjoyed it Grin. But unfortunately came home to the rubbish news that work have declined my plan for reduced hours so debating tonight with MrMads about appealing or just sucking up and getting on with it and having to rely on mil more Hmm
Off to console myself with pork stew and cider dumplings Smile a cast announcement ASAP would help to!

Onlygirljen · 05/01/2016 19:29

mads that's rubbish! Are there any other alternatives you could propose / have they given you a sound reason for saying no? When I went back after youngest I knew my boss was going to be an arsehole difficult so had to work out various options. I had my first two proposals knocked back, so I feel your pain. I ideally wanted to do 3.5 days, they wanted full time and we eventually settled on 4 days with some days from home. 2 years down the line and I'm back working full time hours on a part time wage but that's a whole other story. If there's anything else that would work for you, you could try proposing that instead? Hugs though, sorting it out can be a really stressful part of mat leave just when you don't need it.

Ilovelblue · 05/01/2016 19:31

Oh Jen, bet you could have kicked yourself. I did exactly the opposite just before Christmas and when I was filling in my last timesheet for the year, it came back that I had exceeded my holiday allowance, hence some very creative accountancy!

Bad news Maddie. Were you wanting to reduce your hours by a lot?

I'm furious tonight. I went round to see my poorly neighbour. Neither of his daughters have yet been to visit (they both live no more than a mile away from here) and he was sitting with his coat on. He never normally has heating on and I've told him to switch it on, at least till he's better, but he did at least have a fire on, if not the radiators. All the soup I made for him has gone and he's had the jug of honey and hot lemon so I said I'll make him some more.

I really, really feel like picking the phone up and ringing his older daughter and telling her to get her ar*e round here pronto. I don't think she realises how ill he was at the weekend. The only things stopping me are that I don't want to get too wrapped up with the family and that I think he would be upset that I've highlighted what useless relatives he has. He reckons he can't ring her because her phone is tied to her internet connection so when she's on her computer, the line is engaged. Thought that was pretty old hat these days. What would any of you do?

MaddieMoo82 · 05/01/2016 19:55

Thanks jen and ilove. I wanted the same jen from 5 down to 3.5 but the stance is 3 or 4. Can't afford 3 so will have to be 4 I think unless I can appeal but I think they have a good case. It will be ok I think I'm just disappointed and have had to wait nearly a month for them to make there decision. Had a blub which is ridiculous and I'm blaming hormones still and now eating my way through everything in the house. Sorry to hear your situation is rubbish too Flowers

Oh ilove that's awful. Could you maybe wait with him whilst he phones them himself and step in then if you need to.

Ilovelblue · 05/01/2016 20:14

Maddie I've just been round with more soup and more honey and lemon drink and whilst I was there, his daughter rang! I said in a loud voice "I'll see myself out and I can't come tomorrow as I am out straight after work so if you need anything, you have my work number and you can ring me any time". At least that way, his daughter knows somebody else has been keeping an eye on him. I've no idea of the conversation other than that though.

KellyHb · 05/01/2016 21:25

Evening all.

Sorry mads about work. (Hugs). Why do employers have to be bell ends awkward about things like this? Hope they see some sense and change things in your favour a bit.

Thanks ice. Hopefully we'll hear something soon. Sorry about your mug too. A lot of my favourite ones seem to have chunks out of them at the moment. Confused

Just been to see a friend tonight. She told me a few weeks ago she was having a baby but she was completely shocked as she was on the pill and she's having her time of the month as normal then when she had a scan she was told she could be having twins!! She's having another scan this week to confirm what's happening and her due date as she's huge already. I took her some flowers round as she's been upset about it all.

DH is upstairs ill with earache and a heavy cold so guess I'm doing the dishes again!! DD won't go to sleep either. Grrrr Angry

ilove your poor neighbour. He needs to get his daughters told. Its really annoyed me they're not pulling their weight.

pixieg1rl · 05/01/2016 21:42

Sorry to hear that mads, I was in a similar situation, where we couldn't cut my work that much or we couldn't cover everything. In the I went down to 4 days and MrP went down to 4 as well so DS was with one of us for a day each and nursery 3 days. Is that something that could be an option for you?

Your poor neighbour ilove, it doesn't sound like he's too keen on involving his daughters either. I don't buy the can't be on the phone and Internet at the same time excuse; that sounds ridiculous.

Ilovelblue · 05/01/2016 22:03

I am really annoyed/upset about my neighbour's situation but if I am honest, it's no more, no less than I expected from them, based on past experience. He's not computer literate in the slightest pixie so I had to explain to him how the internet and phone stuff work though I don't think it really went in properly and he seems to think No 1 daughter is really clever because she uses the internet. Who was it, however, who helped sort out his cheaper car insurance via the internet? Answer: it wasn't her, it was me!

I just find it hard to believe that somebody could know their parent is ill, lives a mile away, and yet is too busy to spare an hour to check up on them. The really sad thing is that he thinks the sun shines out of them.

MaddieMoo82 · 05/01/2016 22:16

Yeah we looked into that pixie but MrMads job shares with another and it's already bloody complicated and they are even less keen for him to change that. Need to speak to mil this week to see if she can still help out Confused
Hope your friend is ok kelly

pixieg1rl · 05/01/2016 22:23

Can you use the fact that they're less keen to bugger about with his hours as leverage?

MaddieMoo82 · 05/01/2016 22:27

Possibily. Going to speak to trade union rep tomorrow for some advice.

Richtea19 · 05/01/2016 22:58

mads sorry to hear about the work situation, Shitty work! Fingers crossed you can come up with a solution.

Quite proud of myself today as i had such a stuck up rude cow who was talking to me like a piece of shit and I managed to keep a perfect smile (somewhat two faced!) and rode it out. Came up with a solution to "her" problem and sent her in her way. She looked a bit pissed off as I'm sure she wanted an argument!

KellyHb · 05/01/2016 23:47

Thanks mads.

Just sat down after doing a load if jobs and look at the time! I'll have a cup of tea then bed.

Well played rich. There's no need for people being nasty.

Ilovelblue · 06/01/2016 08:02

Richtea when I'm faced with somebody like that, I think to myself 'you'll need me long before I need you'. Good that you kept your cool.

Is it only Wednesday? It's feeling like a very long week.

pixieg1rl · 06/01/2016 08:13

I had a similar person yesterday rich, he was very annoyed at being caught in his own mistake and wanted to shout at someone.

Yes, it's only Wednesday, this has to be the longest week...

cjwoofwoof · 06/01/2016 10:59

Oh dear pix and Rich sounds like you need a warm hug wrap from AT's discarded towel after he's dried his own nooks and crannies obvs

pixieg1rl · 06/01/2016 12:31

I have to phone Mr Shouty back (keeps going to voicemail), can I get an upgrade to Jamie's kilt or CJ's hospital sheet?

MaddieMoo82 · 06/01/2016 12:38

Ooh yes to CJs sheet that will probably have a nice bit of afghan grime on it. Or the tin foil thingy he was wrapped in at bastion.

cjwoofwoof · 06/01/2016 13:38

Ooh very sorry pix and mads but CJs bed sheet looked like this after I'd visited and feasted on his grapes...

You might gonna need to give it a bit of a sponge off and a spray of Febreze before you wrap yourself in it Grin

SoEverybodyDance · 06/01/2016 13:44

Dear Woofy Just dropped in to your pic... I hope that's not a pic you took of your own bed but a before pic you downloaded from the dreams website or somewhere!

Happy new year to all...

love Dance

cjwoofwoof · 06/01/2016 13:54

Hey Dancey Happy New Year! No, my own bed is never THAT clean.

Oh dear, and now I've got it out ready for parcelling up to pix , AT's towel is probably not upto sharing either. I probably should've given it a rinse through after our all-night un wrap party. Will you settle for his Poldark wig pix ? It's only got a few crispy bits which will easily pull through if you've got sharp fingernails, and at least it will soothe your head or any other area you wish to drape it over
