I can't help it Nickel. I'll be looking at the cabling in his bleeding jumper first (Katie Morag is just a sea of pattern names for me, especially her mum's yoked cardi)

Ilovelblue · 06/01/2016 23:40

My Mum used to be like that pixie. She was a brilliant knitter and could do the most intricate of designs without even looking most of the time. She could pick out faults in other people's knitting very easily too and had been known to point this out - embarrassing or what. She was also pretty good at sewing and once said in a loud voice when we saw Princess Michael of Kent at a flower show "Those patch pockets aren't on straight - do you think she's made the dress herself".

Ilovelblue · 06/01/2016 23:45

BK did you come up the M6 when you went up to Scotland? You should have called in (minus the 31 scouts). Of course, you know exactly where I live having dropped by on several occasions to collect or deliver a certain CJ!

I know I might be getting a bit boring with my elderly neighbour but I couldn't see him tonight as I went out straight from work. I rang him when I was at work this afternoon to see how he was. Surprise, surprise, his daughters still haven't been near - the elder one had an emergency with her dog yesterday and has workmen in today - complete b&llshit. Strange that her phone wasn't working at the same time. Poor guy. I am sure he knows they're not bothered about him but he covers up for them all the time.

kuiakaituhi · 07/01/2016 04:51

Woof and other interested parties. Manu Bennett is starring in Shannara Chronicles. Started here last night. Made in NZ, by some American outfit. Yankee accents on elves is a bit off putting thus far, but Manu looks mighty fine. Did not wear a great deal in the first episode.

Richtea19 · 07/01/2016 08:47

BK happy new year, glad you survived the new year scout trip!

More rain over night and we have a wet porch where our gutter (that's been needed to be replaced for ages!) has overflowed and pouring down the wall. Wet shoes, wet everything!!! Not what I need today!

cjwoofwoof · 07/01/2016 09:19

That's a bummer Rich - we seem to have escaped bad flooding thus far down here. Although I sympathise with the duff gutter though - we're cultivating a flower bed in one of ours that DH keeps promising to clear out every winter Angry

The closest we've got to flooding was when my youngest DS had PE yesterday and got changed by the showers, then during his lesson some jolly japer switched the showers on and promptly soaked his uniform completely. PE was first lesson natch so he had to borrow clothes from lost property and went barefoot for the rest of the day. Came home looking like a hobo in oversized grey clothes and smelling musty Confused

cjwoofwoof · 07/01/2016 09:23

Ooh kuia good news on the scantily clad Manu front. Do hope he's got rid of that awful moustache he was cultivating in his arrest mug shot recently though - not a good look. Wonder if we'll get Shannara Chronicles over here? Must thoroughly Google Manu not a euphemism and see what I can find out, or maybe get ice on the case

KellyHb · 07/01/2016 09:47

Morning all.

Raining here again. It must've rained here every day since Christmas.

Ah no rich. Sorry about the flooding. Hope it doesn't take too long to get it cleaned up.

I remember our garage always used to flood when it rained heavy. We used to have to keep a load of sandbags in it Confused. One of the reasons we had to get it converted in the end.

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2016 09:50

Let's hope he's left off the pies as well woof, he looked liked he'd let himself go in that mugshot.

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2016 09:59

I have to change the tones on my phone, DS has started muttering "bloody effort in up your arses" and telling me the man on my phone isn't very nice and should use his kind words. Confused

I need someone to come clean out the gutters too, nothing as dramatic as flooding, just the little matter of rising damp and a timber framed house.....

Sorry woof, but did laugh at your youngest' misfortunes. That's not going to do his standing with the girls much good either.

KellyHb · 07/01/2016 10:10

Ah your poor DS woof Kids can be right little idiots.

I was laughing pix at your up the arses on your phone. Imagine hearing it on a quiet bus. Smile

cjwoofwoof · 07/01/2016 10:11

Ditto pix perhaps kuia could report back on Manu's physique in his latest outing. I'd wager he's back to his usual Invictus After Shave Man advert self or I'll eat all his leftover pies nothing new there

As for youngest DS's street cred, let's just say he's back on the bottom rung working his way up. Who's got his soggy socks? that's what I want to know and why would you want them? Bless him, it's his Birthday today and he wanted skinny school trousers which now seem rather pointless after Shower-gate. I'm sure the girls would suggest any style dry trousers would be a bonus in his case Blush

kuiakaituhi · 07/01/2016 11:03

Woof. Re Manu. Trying to find a suitable image to back up my comments about bod. Will post in due course.
Being partial to a bit of black leather (tight) I was taken by his resemblance to Richard Armitage as Guy of Gisborne in other scenes. Am afraid the facial fuzz is part of the costume, but looks quite groomed and rather sexy. I'm not all that into beards, mows etc, so what would I know?

MaddieMoo82 · 07/01/2016 11:29

Morning all. Rubbish weather here too. Sorry about the flooding rich not what you needed to start the day.
Spoke to trade union guy yesterday who reckons I should appeal decision. The alternatives they have offered either leave us sort of cash or struggling childcare wise. Have dispatched MrMads to see his mother today so find out how if any she wants to help out as she is giving mixed messages. He believes my 'you should go, she listen to you' speech to I have avoided the chat thank god

Saw another different advert for lucky many. It's 9pm on the 22nd but no BA in the advert so don't reckon we will see much of him. Sounds like they'll be more in the forbidden man love story Grin

SoEverybodyDance · 07/01/2016 11:47

Hello Jen how are you? All well down here, madly busy Christmas, thankfully have just packed the little one off to school so I have some time back.

Love your phone message Pix what a great idea... I'd be smiling every time someone rang me!

Dancex

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2016 12:33

I do like my phone all the more when I get Classic Sternface lines shouted at me from it. Maybe I should go for gentler lines like "I want you to be brilliant" or "did it work?" instead, just to limit the swear words DS repeats at school though.

KellyHb · 07/01/2016 13:28

Running off in a bit to DD's hosp appt but its bloomin awkward as I've got to take her out of school and find babysitters for the boys. Hosp wouldn't change appt time for later in the day so it is what it is I suppose.

I don't know if I'm that bothered about watching BAs mano el mano film. I don't mind the gay storyline, I think it's more the dodgy moustache. Confused I normally like war type stuff though. Wonder how its being shown.

Sorry you haven't got an easy solution yet mads. Thinking of you.

BK28 · 07/01/2016 19:07

Yes ilove we did sail up and down the M6 and have to admit you went through my mind as we did so .... agreed you didn't need my collection of YPs calling in on you, they are all rather gangly and take up a lot of space!

Think you are being a bit of a star re the neighbour, don't get annoyed by the daughters, there may be some history between them all. I say this as my Dad left 30 odd years ago and now I am having to pick up all the pieces, and I live 200 miles away, and actually don't want to visit him, but I certainly value to neighbours who do drop in to him.

Flooding not nice Rich plus these things always seem to happen when we don't need them!

Oh woof you sound like you have come from the same sympathetic Victorian school of parenting as me...poor lad!

Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings as they say pix Grin Although actually impressed that your phone can produce such tones, I'm lucky if mine makes any sort of ringing sound!!

BK28 · 07/01/2016 19:10

kel have to agree that tache doesn't bode well for me either! Hmm

KellyHb · 07/01/2016 21:05

Just having a sit down after another busy day. Can't see much on TV tonight. I should really have an early night as been having late ones recently.

So glad tomorrow's Friday though! Smile

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2016 22:10

Trying to book a short break at the end of the month. I have canary island villa blindness and need more wine.

Ilovelblue · 07/01/2016 22:36

Evening. First time I've been able to sit down properly tonight other than when I had tea. I eventually got round to putting the Christmas decorations in the loft (they've been hiding in the spare bedroom) and then made a couple of cottage pies, one for my neighbour and some red wine jellies with raspberries in so that he can have one of those too. I got a real surprise when I went round because he'd bought me a massive bouquet of flowers, not even a supermarket special but from a local florist. I know he's grateful, that was never in doubt, but I still fail to understand how his daughters can live with themselves not looking after him.

BK there is a strange history with one of his daughters, you're not wrong there, but it's the fact she fell in with a bad crowd and ran away when she was 16 that is at the bottom of it, rather than my neighbour being a bad (or absent) father. When she eventually made it up with her parents, I think they then turned a blind eye to all her problems.

Rotten luck Richtea with your porch. This awful weather has been a big test for all our properties I think. It's been fine here today but has gone very cold.

I have a lunch arrangement planned for Saturday just through Whalley which was badly flooded at Christmas and was shown on the news. We have rain forecast again for Saturday so I need to make sure there are no flood warnings before we set off.

Ilovelblue · 07/01/2016 22:38

Ooooh pixie that sounds good - some winter sun. I've got a 4 night break in Majorca in March and at the moment, it seems a long way off.

Richtea19 · 07/01/2016 22:53

I watched Death in Paradise with dad tonight and thought the Caribbean would be a nice bit of winter sun, bank balance can't run to that!!!

Canaries is great this time of year, pre kids we would often head there Feb time. I've just booked a holiday for end of June, just DH and I no kids!!! Leaving them with MIL, they are not amused! It's DHs 50th so it's a present that I benefit from as well! Me selfish????

Porch is damp and probably smells much like woofs DS after shower gate! Bless him. My youngest is going on basic winter survival training this weekend, jokes as he can't survive without a devise with a charger! Big one has let him borrow his Cadet stuff and shown him how to pack a Bergen!

Day off tomorrow and lunch in London with a couple of friends for a birthday. I've been dry from wine/gin since Monday so I will really enjoy a glass.

Be careful with your drive ilove as still so much flooding.

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2016 23:13

So far v limited luck on the break, we've only got a few days and everyone wants a week long booking. A bit of winter sunshine would be good, though we've got off very lightly weather wise down here.
