kelly I wouldn't bother with a coffee machine unless you have a real preference for ground coffee. We have one installed in our kitchen and I swear it gets used about once a month despite the fact that DH and I survive on a hell of a lot of coffee - it's just a faff. I almost always just opt for instant instead.

Feeling crap today, full of the cold and sore throat - not a good way to start the year. At least it's finally stopped raining up here! Need to do some quick please make them quick visits to the parentals and then mil, then home to get my steak pie in the oven. Is the tradition for a steak pie dinner on New Year's Day just a Scottish thing or is it uk wide?

Jen sorry about the cold - there's a lot of it doing the rounds at the moment. Steak pie isn't traditional as far as I know and to be honest, my ex-in laws were Scottish and I never remember eating steak pie with them on New Year's Day either. Mind you, they had a peculiar view on food at the best of times. I'll never forget the frozen melon.... ever.

Kelly I am a fan of ground coffee but having used other people's fancy machines, I still prefer my cafetiere - much less faffing around and little cleaning required. If you just like the occasional cup of ground coffee, I can recommend Sainsbury's coffee bags. I think they're around £2.40 for a box of 10. I usually take some on holiday with me as I dislike the sachets of instant coffee usually found in hotels.

Def a coffee person, nespresso machine and used to be a snob when it came to coffee but now I work for the NHS is cheapo instant and it's fine!!!

We had a lovely night at our friends and we stayed over. Big DS didn't come as he was at friends staying over... But actually didn't. We arrived home at 10.30 this morning when I saw one of the girls sneaking out. Three more boys lurking in the kitchen. I'm so mad! The house is fine and TBH they are his cadet friends who are actually quite sensible. Just annoyed about the lying to me. Also can you imagine if one of them had out on social network that it was a "free" house (that's what they call it). I'm annoyed about the trust issues. Good way to start the new year!!!
And I'm hung over!!!!

Oh Richtea not the best start to 2016. Still you have the excitement of meeting me and ice on Sunday. Did you lose your rag with them all or wait till all the youngsters had gone?

Oh rich yes can see why you would be angry. Not great when you are hung over and after having such a nice night as well.

Just seen a longer trailer for lucky man and it looks good..... Little snippet of BA in the speedboat again but looks like there is an incident on the speedboat and they end up in the water, although doesn't show much. Looking forward to when it starts.

Oh and yes to instant. Have a machine but too much of a phaff to put on and clean when tired!

I didn't go mad, I didn't want to infront of the other kids and they actually looked quite scared! Although I did ask them if their parents knew that there would be no adults, which was no, what a surprise. I don't want to shout as there's no point now, but we will be having a discussion about trust! Oh dear I don't feel strong enough!
As yes SO looking forward to Sunday meet up!!

Urgh MrMads has started his 3 week be helpful around the house routine, hence we are off to buy a shower curtain

On New Year's Day mads?! We have the same cycle but it lasts 3 days rather than 3 weeks.

Steak pie on the 1st is most definitely a tradition up here ilove, it's about as traditional as turkey on Christmas Day. Putting mine in the oven shortly

Well, DS has pissed on the floor twice today. He's going to be 5 in a couple of weeks and I'm getting hacked off with still mopping up wee.

No steak pie here, but it sounds lovely. I've just got a big pile of washing up. Luckily there's still a bottle of prosecco in the fridge from last night to cushion the blow.

Don't doubt it for a moment Jen: as I said my ex's parents were just downright peculiar! I remember once being driven to ask them why they moved down here - they kept saying how wonderful it was in Greenock and what amazing culture it was. I just wish they'd p*ssed off back up there instead of interfering in our life!

ilove Sorry, I forgot to answer your question from the other day. When we went to the docs, DD had an infection due to her chest as her ears were a bit red inside too so got antibiotics. Twin they said was fine. He's still got a cough but he slept better last night.

Thanks for coffee Intel ladies. I'll probably just stick to instant, as much as the machine would look nice, cleaning it out sounds a bit of a chore.

Sorry to hear about this morning rich. I would be pretty annoyed to. Its times like this I dread having 3 teenagers in the house in future and what they'll get up to.

Feel for you pix. I've had to put a load of piss soaked clothes in the washer from earlier.

Jen ooops, hope that didn't come across as derogatory to all Scots folk, didn't mean that in the slightest. It's just that they were very weird folk. They even used that horrible shiny Izal toilet paper. I used to take my own soft paper when I went into their house!

Yes jen it's a New Years resolution thing, every year it's the same. Last new year we stripped and painted the nursery! He lasts 3 weeks but it goes steadily down hill after about 2 days so not holding out much hope this time!!

No pie here although it sounds lovely but a stew in the slow cooker which I'm actually excited about!

And yes kelly the full trailer has just started on all sky channels so keep your eyes peeled.

I'm having a venison casserole tonight which I cooked yesterday evening and then eating up whatever remaining veg there are before restocking on Monday. There are bits of pudding left from last night as well so I will probably pick at those to0.

Currently watching a series of programmes I recorded about Loch Lomond on Channel 5. One of my cats is sitting in front of the television absolutely absorbed by the bird life. Anyone would think he's never seen a bird before.

Bless you mads. My friend and her boyf actually posted a pic of their new shower curtain on FB which was a great one. You know those cardboard pictures of caricatures you get at the seaside with holes that you stick your head through for photos?...well it was one of those.

Going to try and watch a few episodes of Outlander tonight. I need to get to the hallowed episodes 7 & 8 for QS and am only on episode 4.

Had a McDonald's for my lunch and am still full.
