ilove You definitely did right by your neighbour. I like knowing that my Mum has really good neighbours who look out for her when I can't

My neighbour's family are very odd. He told me last year he was doing his will and also mentioned he was arranging power of attorney for his daughters. I had this for my Mum so understand how it works. Later on, he said he had "named me". I thought he must mean he wanted me to witness the will but about 2 months later, he gave me a letter from his solicitor (which had mistakenly gone to him, not me) which said I was named as the third person on the documentation. I rang the solicitor and she told me that in the event of her feeling the family were "dodgy", she asked for a third person and he immediately gave my name. Presumably, she hadn't told them she thought they were dodgy. Anyway, as the letter stated if I had any objections, I had to raise them within 21 days, and at least 2 months had gone by, I was a bit stuck as to what to do as anything else would have cost him more money.

So clearly, the solicitor had doubts about his daughters, just like I do!

Good on you ilove. Sounds like he didn't want to bother his daughters much. They dont very nice people tbh. Ah bless your neighbour. Hope he gets better.

rich My DH was sitting in the car revising when I met up with pix. He's got a huge exam coming up in a couple of weeks and he hasn't been able to revise much at home.

ilove well done for intervening, sounds like you needed to.

jen, orph and I didn't really pay too much attention to the pleating of the kilt, so it afraid no assistance from us!!!

kelly no DH didn't go shopping! He was the other end of hotel reception with the boys, leaving us to coffee and chats, but available for taking photos!!

New thread soon?? !!

pix no I thought I'd save the blanket pleating till I was feeling better Grin. Just watched ep7, it's not done much for my raging temperature! Blush would it be harmful to my health to continue?!

ilove well done for stepping up and sorting out a doctor, sounds like the daughters wouldn't have got involved in a hurry!

Not sure if I have been a good neighbour or an interfering one here. My elderly next door neighbour (nearly 79, has diabetes and has had a heart attack in the past) has had a dreadful cough. When I came home, I could even hear him through the dividing wall! I offered to go to a late night chemist to get some cough mixture for him and when I came back, he seemed to be worse so I rang the emergency 111 helpline (used it once before and not impressed). Anyway, after lots of questions, some of which seemed utterly pointless and the woman was reading from a script, I am sure of it, they transferred the call to our hospital primary care unit and a doctor is coming out to see him later.

He has two daughters, only slightly younger than me, and neither of them show much interest except when they need him to chauffeur them somewhere. He told them he'd be ok but his cough is terrible and as they both live locally, I think one of them should have come over to see him. Really p*ssed off with the pair of them.

Urgh. I've eaten one too many Quality Street today. Feel too full. Especially with pasta I've just had for tea. Must go back to the gym this week as I'm paying for it still. Hmm

Your meet up sounded fun ladies. Did your DH do some shopping while you met up with the ladies rich?

Thank you for the honey Richtea. I hadn't noticed the little wooden spoon which went with it, sorry! It was a really lovely thought.

I'm considering having a little snooze before tea.....

Just read the Sean Ward stuff. Strictly curse striking again by the sounds of it. I'd have SW any day over that Italian guy. Looks as if pixie is prepared to comfort him though, so every cloud and all that....

Back from meeting up with ice and Richtea. What a lovely morning it was. Great start to 2016 and a lovely ending to the Christmas holidays - back to work tomorrow.

It was as if we'd known each other for ever! Of course, you can guess who was the number one on our discussion agenda!

Dreadful weather though. Got soaked walking back to the car so had to do a little detour via House of Fraser. Have shopped twice these holidays so wasn't especially in the mood but treated myself to an oil diffuser, reduced from £28 to £8.

I hope you get home safely Richtea without too much hassle. The motorway back up home from Manchester was horrendous with spray and people driving far too fast.

Hope you feel better too pix. And the back to school routine isn't too bad tomorrow for anyone whose kids start then.

Ours go back Tuesday but dreading it for going back to the chaos of getting kids ready and out the door. Sad

pixie do you want to come and get me ready for school too?! Currently on hour 3 of a markingathon.
Hope you and jen feel better soon. My mind went into the very wrong direction at the mention of stag's breath.
Ladies, like the pic from your meet up and glad you enjoyed it.

Yes. I'm happy to open my heart amongst other things to SW should he be in need of any comforting...

I've been a bit grotty the last couple days; I played freezer roulette (aka eating something that had been lurking at the back of the freezer for a while) on New Year's Day and having a crappy few days. Sat on the sofa with DS and self medicating with paracetamol and haribo.

I've got all of DS's school stuff ready for tomorrow, bags packed, shoes cleaned etc. Ready for bed now after all the effort. Thought about taking down the tree, but can't be arsed.

Glad you all had a great meet up, photo looked great.

Did you show DH the correct way to wear a kilt Jen?

Report
KellyHb · 03/01/2016 14:34

Yes I was thinking pix should go round to SW's as he'll need consoling. I feel sorry for him about the split. I bet he's gutted. He always looked so proud of her on Strictly too.

Hope you feel better soon jen. Watching Jamie's thighs and gorgeous smile should help do it. I've got a new appreciation for the kilt from watching Outlander especially watching Jamie put his on. Smile

We've spent the day so far taking down Xmas decorations and realising how dusty the house is afterwards and then having to dust and hoover everywhere. Confused Its always the same every year where we put stuff in the loft and then we realise we've left out a few odd decorations lying around.

So excited for War and Peace tonight. Don't think any QS would live up to Outlander but hoping for a view of JN's bare bottom all the same.

Thanks nickel I hadn't heard of that before, had to google. Weirdly enough, my mum gave me some honey infused rum last night that she got in Spain and told me to try it, might give that a go today. Rum and DVD watching seems like a good combination.

DH has taken the boys out for their kilt fitting for BIL's wedding in 3 weeks time. Hopefully not the shop that orphan and rich took over the last time when CJ needed measuring Grin

Glad you had fun ice and rich.

Wonder if pixie's off coming up with a list of ways she can console SW on his heartache Smile

Day 3 of cold / flu for me Confused. Means I'm getting some outlander viewing done though, onto ep4 now couldn't hold out for DH to catch up. Looking fwd to ep10 now..!

Read that about Georgia and SW - she's been pictured on holiday at eurodisney with Giovanni kissing and holding hands. What a shame!! It's bad enough being cheated on without the whole world being witness to the fact it's happened!

Enjoy the meet-up in Manchester ladies. BrewCake

I had noticed he had gone quiet on Twitter Kelly, it's a shame if it's true; imagine having all of your early 20's break ups and hook ups plastered all over the paper.
