Just watching the film of New Year celebrations around the world on the news. It's a family games night accompanied by drinks and nibbles here then watching the London fireworks and Jool's Hootenanny!

I've just taken my lot out for dinner with a really good friend and her family, just got back and am about to put kids to bed (not entirely convinced keeping a five year old up this late is a good idea!). Have downed a bottle of wine and spirits so will undoubtedly be asleep before midnight (such a lightweight!), maybe even before the kids! DS and his friend have been up singing and dancing since 7am, if I could hook up an intravenous drip of tea I would.

Happy New Year everyone. Hope there aren't too many sore heads today? Intravenous tea pixie? I'm more of a coffee person at this time of day and am on my third cup so far.

My little was up at 7 too pix, but I'm definitely not a fully functioning mummy or anything else without coffee ... On my second, with a chocolate croissant. Just starting new year as I mean to go on!!

Happy New year folks! New Year was ushered in with a cup of tea here - not really from choice! It also took me about three attempts to get a Happy New year exchange out of anyone else as they were watching the fireworks on TV (after the games playing) - they really can be a bit bah-humbug sometimes! I went outside to hear and see all the fireworks in the neighbourhood. Much better than bonfire night and very strange to hear so much noise late at night. My kids are beyond the getting up at crack of dawn stage now - trying to get them out of bed before midday is the usual order of things.

Ooh just another quick thing - anyone else freaked out by the appearance of Thomas the Tank Engine on the right hand side of the page?

Final bizarre thought - it's actually Henry not Thomas! Many years spent building train tracks in bedrooms - not mine!

I'm a tea first thing person, coffee doesn't agree with me until I've been up for a few hours.

I'm dressed and showered which puts me ahead of everyone else in the house. Flagging a bit now and MrP is making noises about bracing countryside walks. Might need to top up my chocolate levels first.

Hope everybody enjoyed whatever they did last night. We watched the fireworks in London at midnight then DH went to bed. I stayed up looking on the internet.

I haven't had much time to sat and watch films with the kids so going to try and do that today.

Definitely coffee for me first thing. I was eyeing up MIL's coffee machine wondering if it would be any good for me but probably not as I'm the only one that drinks coffee in the house.

Ooh enjoy your walk pix. Lashing it down here so no chance of a walk really. Planning on making MrMads walk the dog but might need to surface as no food in the house....except cheese!
