Just added my Woolworth's tablecloth to the MN shit presents thread..

Had a lovely visit from by brother and family, although my liver is complaining a bit today and I'll be having an early night.

Hope your little one is on the mend Jen and good to hear that ice and ilove are dry. My MIL had a minimum requirement of 3 hours visiting time from us mads, MrP has been summoned tomorrow to make up for only 2 hours on Xmas day.

Alwaysfrank · 27/12/2015 17:00

Hello all, belated Christmas greetings. What an amazing tweet from BA!

I had a houseful over the last couple of days but they've gone now. Luckily I have lovely in laws, unlike some of you. I can't believe your tablecloth Pixie! I did get a "shit" present of my own though - one of my twins bought me a pack of festive toilet rolls Hmm. He got his sister to order them from her Amazon account yet she failed to talk him out of it - I thought I had her better trained than that!

MaddieMoo82 · 27/12/2015 17:05

Yep MrMads reckons half a day so had to go back this morning for a further 2hr session and she is expecting me at our normal Tuesday visit too. Apparently you can skip just because it's Xmas! You mean you don't have to go tomorrow pix?!

pixieg1rl · 27/12/2015 17:30

I'm getting out of the MIL visiting tomorrow by having a prior and much more important appointment of going to the pub with nickel!!!! Grin

Richtea19 · 27/12/2015 18:09

Hope little one is feeling better jen.

ice ilove how is that weather? Is there any letup?

pixie how lovely to meet up with nickel- and in the pub!!!! ice ilove sorry it will only be coffee when we meet up, or perhaps coffee in a pub!!!!

We have been round to my nieces today and seen Baby Isobel. So gorgeous! Lots of Great Aunt Cuddles.

We are off to a party tonight, which I really don't want to go to, I would rather PJs and snuggle, but really have to go. I've booked a can for 12.30 to stop us staying too late! Although having a glass of prosecco to get me in the mood Grin

kuiakaituhi · 27/12/2015 18:37

Sorry that the weather is having such devastating effects for a lot of you. We've got just the opposite here in NZ. You wine drinkers will have heard of Marlborough whites , I imagine. Lots of bush/forest fires in the top of the South Island, around the grape growing region. Been burning for weeks. Similar in Aussie, really bad fire season in Victoria..
Who is watching Outlander? A little hint, gets really racy episodes 7,8.but don't be tempted to miss the earlier episodes, you need all the background to follow the story.
I posted about my friend giving me Rosabaya for my birthday as a kind of in-joke. I feel like packing it up and posting it to CJ. Who's got him first in the New Year? Bloody awful actually wishy washy shit stuff. Thought he had better taste than that!
Am on holiday, all my kids and their kids have gone home and I've got four lovely days of lazing, watching One Day cricket against Sri Lanka, reading, sleeping. Heaven!
Sat up all night writing because Sohail was in my head, insisting on telling his story. Am really enjoying writing this one but I have this sense of urgency with it, almost like he IS at me to get it done. Have just posted chapter 3 about an hour ago.
Take care all, hope you dry out soon in the north.

icemistOBE · 27/12/2015 18:38

No rain today! Massive clear-up going on in the parts of town that were flooded. There was a car in the river!!! And a container went floating through yesterday. I'm sure the 2 bridges will need looking at before they let the HGVs go over as both were hit by the container Confused

Coffee is good, depending on time we are meeting.

Lazy day today. We've played with some of the toys and the wii u has taken over.... Novelty factor I'm hoping

Oh dear kuia, a happy medium between floods and bush fires would be good. My FIL is a farmer in East Africa, he's had good short rains (there's 2 rainy seasons) so he's happy. He always says El Niño years are good, and coming on the back of 2 drought years he's pleased.

I'm waiting for orph or woof to come up with a line about bushes being on fire. Sounds like a nasty dose of thrush to me.

I've got a couple of meet ups with people from here this week, I'm really excited to meet people, especially as I can't get to the big meet in January.

Ilovelblue · 27/12/2015 19:06

Hi all.

Went to Manchester today with my friend for a hunt round the sales. We intended going on the train but although there were three trains in relatively quick succession, they were all cancelled due to a landslide somewhere on the line so we drove. Fortunately, we had driven to the station where we can leave the card for free. My friend whinged about finding driving into Manchester quite stressful since it was my car and I was driving, I didn't understand why she found it a problem! (I don't find it stressful anyway). The only problem was that we were there an hour before the shops opened so had to while away the time in a coffee shop! It did rain on the way back though.

ice I see there had been a lot of damage to the Mark Addy pub and also the paved seating area by the river next to the Lowry Hotel.

Ilovelblue · 27/12/2015 19:08

pixie is the rubbish present thread the one on the "trending now" list? I am quite addicted to reading those threads!

Nickel great that you and pixie are meeting up. Oh and Richtea I will be driving next Sunday, so coffee is definitely better for me!

I love the way we have all arranged little meet-ups here and there. Who would have thought it a year ago?

KellyHb · 27/12/2015 19:21

Evening all.

Fecking fuming! Its taken us 5.5 hours to get here! Horrendous traffic on A1 so chose the M1 but was even worse as we got towards Derby way plus eventual roadworks. Poor kids were good about it. Although they did look like somebody pissed in their chips for most of the way.

Had tea tiny childsize portions for adults here and DH is talking about me and him nicking off to the pub in a bit! Result!

On the drive down terribly flooded fields but the main roads were okay. ice ilove thinking of you this morning.

Passed Catterick Garrison and thought of OG. Smile

moojangles · 27/12/2015 19:36

How cool that peoeple are having so many meet ups thanksmto the love of CJ

Ilovelblue · 27/12/2015 19:38

Kelly does your MIL eat like a mouse and expects everyone else to have similarly small appetites?

MaddieMoo82 · 27/12/2015 21:20

Urgh trying to combat the cheese sweats by ironing.... Back to reality Confused
Have fun at the pub kelly hope the mil isn't too bad!

Ilovelblue · 27/12/2015 22:17

pixie I've added my charity shop M&S scented drawer liners which are so old, the perfume has totally evaporated present to that list on the other MN thread.

KellyHb · 27/12/2015 22:27

ilove DH's family are all like skinny beanpoles so yes maybe due to small portions. Smile

Went to the pub and put away a pint and a Malibu and lemon plus when I got back I had a glass of wine so quite merry here lying in bed typing.

pix hope you and nickel have a fab meet up tomorrow. nickel make sure you tell pix all the gen (i.e. body smells, feel etc) about meeting BA so I can hear it all the next day. Grin

I really wish all of us could meet up one day. That would be fab.Star

kuia I bought the Outlander boxset the other day and watched episode 1 and wondered when the smutty episodes were going to come (pardon the pun). I'll hurry up to episodes 7 & 8 then. If only CJ and Molly had some decent QS scenes. Hmm

mads I've got a ton of washing to do when I get back which will result in pikes of ironing. I feel your pain.

Night ladies. Xmas Wink

pixieg1rl · 27/12/2015 22:29

Finally started on Outlander. Enjoying it so far.

pixieg1rl · 27/12/2015 22:55

High commendations for Jamie's thighs good grime and muscle definition. It's giving me all sorts of kilt based ideas...Blush

kuiakaituhi · 28/12/2015 09:23

Just wait till Jamie gets all his kit off...Spectacular!

I think Tony Grounds is really good at understatement, Kelly. The hot stuff is hinted at rather than being obvious and that's what can be so maddening. My other thought is that their relationship, or what we see of it in Afghan is almost innocent, quite romantic rather than obviously sexual. It's not till they get back to Britain that they can develop their relationship and that fis with the Army rules too.
Not unlike Mr Darcy and Elizabeth? The attraction is there, in spades, but the restraint of the direction allows them privacy?
The Outlander series is different. sO explicit that it couldn't be shown on ordinary TV here and was on a subscription channel, Lightbox.
BA and LT were really good at making love with their eyes, lots of lingering glances, half smiles, semi-suggestive walks from the rear view. Sweaty stuff without being OTT. sTill quite innocent. I know that's what rattles my bones...what do the rest of you think?

KellyHb · 28/12/2015 09:54

Morning all.

Had a poor nights sleep. We've been put in the same room as the boys and every little cough etc I was awake and listening for.

Have a lovely meet up today pix & nickel in the pub!!

Today should be good. Were seeing some friends of ours we haven't seen for ages. Its their sons birthday too so there's a party later. Then the kids get sent to bed and then its the adults turn for some proper drinks. Grin

You're right kuia. I wouldn't have minded seeing CJ's bum going at it for a few seconds at least.

MaddieMoo82 · 28/12/2015 10:18

Ha your last couple of lines made me laugh kelly Grin have a lovely day, all sounds fun!
Oh yes enjoy pix and nickel
We are finally starting to run out of food so need to go food shopping today.
Cant be long till lucky man now as sky have started advertising it. No BA shots unfortunately.

Rhubarb01 · 28/12/2015 10:38

Morning all! Kuia you're so right on the OG front. It's all in the smoulder and restraint - with Darcy and Elizabeth it's class, society, manners and decorum and with CJ and Molly it's all rank and army rules. TG is clever in the way he got us all hooked but we actually saw so little. BA/LT played that so well (round of applause - isn't there a hand-clapping smiley I think there should be one?). I have to say however, that perhaps just a tiny final shot with a bit of action however brief might have been nice - I'd have accepted even 20 or 30 seconds just to conclude things. It's these discussions from last year that I miss. We all had so much fun dissecting everything and I really hope we'll enjoy doing the same again in the Autumn. On that subject hopefully it won't be too long before the cast is announced. Any ideas of when the filming actually starts - any intel from the bunker ice?

Rhubarb01 · 28/12/2015 10:49

Ooh just another totally random thought for Kuia but seeing as the seasons are reversed down under and it's now hot and sunny there do you refer to this time of year as summer? Or is it just accepted that winter is hot and summer is cold in the southern hemisphere? I know that probably sounds totally stupid but I have to say that I never really thought about whether summer is always summer everywhere at the same time as in it is called summer or whether summer is relative to the weather wherever you are. For example here kids have Christmas holidays in December but six weeks Summer holidays in July/August but I think you said the kids in NZ have six weeks now - so are those the summer holidays rather than Christmas holidays? Forgive me for probably sounding ridiculous but I haven't given it much thought before and I'm just curious.

pixieg1rl · 28/12/2015 11:09

I love a hot summer Christmas, I wish Christmas was in the middle of July, all sunshine and long summer evenings. When I was a kid and living in the Southern Hemisphere it was BBQs and trips to the beach (I was mostly at school in the uk so only had the short Xmas holiday though)

Ilovelblue · 28/12/2015 11:20

Morning all.

Fine here and quite windy so everything is drying up. About to go in the garden and see what sort of damage there is from it flooding on Boxing Day. Hopefully nothing that can't be cleared away.

Back to boring stuff like changing the bedding and maybe having to nip to the supermarket as I appear to be running out of veg. I've lost track of the days - they all merge into one when it's a mixture of being off work, bank holidays etc.
