MrP has been known to drive to his mum's to be fed over making his own dinner. He's just a lazy arse.

He will get away with as little as he can, so we have this pattern of me exploding with rage at him, him trying for a few weeks, and then we slip back into me doing the bulk of it again. In his defence he does do most of the hoovering and bathroom cleaning, and all the financial stuff.

pixieg1rl · 15/12/2015 20:39

His arse is acceptable. Wink

KellyHb · 15/12/2015 20:46

Ditto mooj. Your house sounds like mine. I haven't got the patience with wrapping presents. I do a couple but get fed up. Its either DH does cooking/wrapping or it doesn't get done.

DH doesn't do cleaning though. That's my bag. Even if he did it, I would be watching to make sure he did it right so I may as well do it myself OCD moi?

Jen I've forgotten what my DH's rear looks like, we're that busy all the time.

KellyHb · 15/12/2015 20:48

Ah yes financial matters-absolutely clueless. DH does all that. I've always said if anything happened to him, I wouldn't have a foggiest how/where/who about bills? Confused

Onlygirljen · 15/12/2015 20:57

Now I really am pissed - toilets? me. Finances? Oh yes, me again. Food shopping? Me!

He does cut the grass and give me a chance to check out the rear view

In his defence, I am a teensy tiny bit ocd about certain household tasks and he is incapable of doing them right when he does try....

orphan · 15/12/2015 20:58

Dp does Christmas dinner here. My job is to swig prosecco and fiddle with the gravy. Don't know how it came about but it's always been that way and long may it stay. And his arse is perter than mine.

I'm a Paul Kelly bronze turkey fan. It's matured and hung like game and cooks in a ridiculously short time. Really recommend them if you're having turkey.

orphan · 15/12/2015 21:03

kelly I'm like you as to the finances. I keep meaning to get dp to make an idiot's guide to where all the important stuff is just in case he drops dead.

He also does all his own ironing as I loathe doing shirts. He's actually a better cleaner than me as well. In fact now I'm thinking about it, I wonder what I'm good at...Confused

KellyHb · 15/12/2015 21:20

Wow orph sounds like you got a good all rounder there. Star

Jen at least you're self sufficient. I'm dreading the day any of my kids goes to school and they do a talk of all the things Mummy's do. DD would probably say eat McDonalds and thinks of CJ and Molly most of the time! BlushBlush

MaddieMoo82 · 15/12/2015 21:23

jen mine is exactly the same...cuts grass, occasionally walks dog and does the empties at the glass bin as their all his

Nice arse and legs as he plays a lot of football but massively jealous of the toilet cleaning, ironing men Hmm

pixieg1rl · 15/12/2015 21:30

I am capable of doing everything MrP does, I ran his business for 2 years, I just can't be bothered, and he's such a weirdo he likes doing this stuff. I cannot be arsed with finding tariffs, interest rates and all that malarkey.

Tbh we fight over who gets to do the garden jobs, because the one who doesn't has to mind DS for the afternoon Confused

KellyHb · 15/12/2015 21:33

orph I bet Rupert could name a few things you're pretty good at. Wink

Onlygirljen · 15/12/2015 21:37

High five to you mads, I'm feeling your pain. Mine plays football once a week, goes to the gym three times a week and runs on two mornings. The keeping fit thing is kind of understandable though, his dad dropped dead of a heart attack at 48 so he's a bit paranoid about eating well / exercise which doesn't go down well when I spend most of my free time with a wine or gin in my hand. You've reminded me that he does empty the recycling, there's another point in his favour.

PS kelly I'd rate being a stay at home mum as pretty much the hardest job going one that I'm definitely not cut out for, so don't be so hard on yourself.

KellyHb · 15/12/2015 21:46

Cheers Jen you're not wrong there about it being a hard job when I consider my two boys. The twins have recently discovered new levels of taking the piss. I'm actually jealous of DH doing a pretty hard 3 hour mock exam next week in a nice quiet library at least he's away from the kids

pixieg1rl · 15/12/2015 22:02

Some days I'm grateful for the commute just for the hour of peace, Kelly, how you wrangle 3 of them is beyond me.

MaddieMoo82 · 15/12/2015 22:03

Urgh and we had a mega barney about it all at the weekend... The usual 'you do nothing around the house, Treat it like a hotel etc' and the response. 'Just ask me to do something and I'll do it once I've watched the football' gaaaaaaa Angry

Changing the subject all the space stuff is pretty cool but feel slightly sorry for Helen sharman who seems to have been a bit forgotten about Hmm

pixieg1rl · 15/12/2015 22:09

In more distracting news, the tv is full of perfume ads and the Invictus one rather caught my eye. No idea why.

Ha kelly but does facilitating an audible crack count as an accomplishment?

Anyone actually read a book recently? I'm thinking of trying to remember how to do that over Christmas and could do with some recommendations which I can then pile up next to my bed and igore for the next six months

MaddieMoo82 · 15/12/2015 22:47

Have you read 'the girl on the train' orph taken me about a year as never get a chance but finally finished it the other week and was v good

Ilovelblue · 15/12/2015 22:49

Evening all. Feeling grumpy tonight as I think I am coming down with a cold. Have a scratchy sore throat. Better now than next week I suppose.

Been wrapping presents tonight and got a bit fed up so some just got rammed in gift bags with some tissue paper scrunched up over the top. I seem to have bought dozens of bows and that foil string stuff. Must have picked them up in a sale, judging by the volume!

My ex was very keen on going back to his mother though without boasting, my cooking was far superior to hers. What an old bat she was.

Another whinge: saw my newly retired boss yesterday at our Christmas lunch and asked him if he had spent the £75 wine voucher we gave him (along with euros, 2 bottles of wine and a big glass which all in all came to £160). He looked vacant and said he'd never seen a voucher. I described it and which wine merchants it had come from and he said he'd not had it, which of course I know he had since I bought the bloody thing. I couldn't believe he was so flippant about the whole thing, saying he was very emotional when he left after 30 years in the business blah blah blah. I felt quite hurt as myself and another colleague had put in a great deal of effort into the collection and present buying. Must have so much money it doesn't matter. Rant over.

Richtea19 · 15/12/2015 22:59

ilove retired boss sounds very rude! Not nice at all.

kelly I read Girl on Train, very good. Also they are making a film of it, which Justin Theroux (spelling?) rather hunky man married to Jennifer A.

Just to reiterate what a lot of you said tonight, my DH does just the "Blue" jobs, which for us is Bins and that's about it. Sometimes stretches to the cat litter tray! His line used to be "I'm at work all day" but now I am he has to help a bit with dinners (I prepare and he puts in oven). But other than that I do cook, clean, iron, finances, shop etc. He is good with the boys though!

Nickel45 · 16/12/2015 10:01

kuia just read your last two ff chapters - wow! You have really captured the characters so well, and filled in gaps and more! Brilliant. The new one is also fantastic, I don't remember seeing another one about Sohail, brilliant, really looking forward to seeing where you take that one :)

cjwoofwoof · 16/12/2015 10:37

Just received the duct tape orph thank you. I thought you meant it was a new one - there's still some pubes stuck mid-roll which suggests a bit of recycling going on Xmas Shock.

Hmm I like the sound of your turkey too - mature and hung like game conjures up a Belgian in a smock kind of bird; I may buy one of those myself.

kuia can't wait to settle down in a bit (post MIL visit Sad ) to read your excellent ff - you're the nuts

cjwoofwoof · 16/12/2015 10:40

pix I have a random programme on Sky record simply for the advert break that contains that luscious Invictus man. The kids think I'm suddenly into Spanish modern art, bless 'em

Nickel45 · 16/12/2015 17:24

bells
hope the link works

orphan · 16/12/2015 17:51

nickel Grin Although I do think they've nicked the idea from the finale of mine and woof's stage show but of course we could do two bells each and the skill was in ringing the bells independently. woof blames her drooping icebergs on the fact she would insist on ringing a bell that rivalled Big Ben for size...
