Evening everyone

Oo orph your behind the bike sheds experience sounds pretty fab. I need to find an inventive place to do it when he comes to me. Wink

Hope your evening goes okay ilove.

Good news ice about your DS.

Doing a huge pile of dishes. Having a sit down to rest my back a minute. We so need a dishwasher in this house!!

moojangles · 25/11/2015 19:18

Thank you all for your support during the state visit, relatively peaceful in the end. DH away for a few days now and so enjoying the calm. Sounds really wrong but he's definitely on exercise when the facebook meet up is on, so I may get there yet! Quite excited at the prospect!!!

ice glad to hear that it went well for your DS.

ilove hope all is well with your friend and that she's getting things sorted, hope you're evening goes okay.

And again thanks to all of you fabulous ff writers, amazing as always

Richtea19 · 25/11/2015 19:26

orph we are staying in a hotel within city walls, think it's called Indigo? Not a pretty hotel from the outside but quite contemporary looking inside. I'm just looking forward to breakfast/coffee/lunch/afternoon tea/dinner all accompanied with a beverage!!!

We are also going to Manchester in the new year as DH and DS are watching a ManU game (hides and ducks for cover for the non MUFC supporters!) I've looked a spa hotel so whilst they are watching football big DS and I will hit the Trafford centre and spa!

Good to hear you enjoying CJ at the school orph, getting warmed up for my visit next Thursday!!!!

pixieg1rl · 25/11/2015 20:41

Do you watch 'don't tell the bride' woof? Because there's a big Lego headed father of the bride on it...

Evening! orph sounds like you are definately getting the full CJ experience.... I certainly hoping he is as generous when he visits here Grin

Liking all the DP/DH shopping stories. MrMads occasionally does the weekly shop and usually comes back all smug as he is under budget. But this is usually because he has brought reduced stuff that goes out of date the same day when I need to use it all week Angry

Day 3 of the plague and if he coughs one more time I might actually put my head in the oven Hmm . rich mine is also a mufc mega fan. We went together the last time to a game but I might follow you and leave him to it the next time!

Glad the rest of the state visit was quiet mooj

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2015 21:53

My friend has just gone. Not sure how much nearer she is with sorting out her finances but the bank sound as if they are getting on with things, albeit slowly and she generally looks better than the last time I saw her a couple of weeks ago. I didn't ask about the brother in law interfering in the loan of any money from her mother.

As for the dentist, the previous man (who has just retired) was divorced and remarried plus he and his wife had a car each plus a further 4x4 to tow their boat so I was never sure whether my treatment was paying maintenance on wife no 1, the upkeep of wife no 2 (who looked high maintenance herself), the cars or the boat. Thank goodness for our work dental insurance!

Ilovelblue · 25/11/2015 22:05

Maddie got to say, I am addicted to the reduced fridge at Tesco and often pick up great bargains in meat and fish. I'm lonly 5 mins away from Tesco at lunchtime and just can't resist. It's my weekly (or often twice a week) guilty pleasure. My freezer is full of the bargains!

MaddieMoo82 · 25/11/2015 22:28

Glad your friend is doing ok Ilove.
And yeah I wouldn't mind about the reduced stuff but we only have a tiny freezer so can't store it so all goes out of date before we can eat it Hmm ah well least he tries....

icemistOBE · 26/11/2015 06:55

Oh Richtea we have to try and meet up!!!

Off to dentist, have had horrendous pain since Tuesday Sad I've nearly cried with the pain once or twice. Lucky to get into see them today, have to bring boys but worth it to get sorted.
H

Dizzydots · 26/11/2015 07:16

Ouch ice good luck with that Flowers
I am being super organised for Christmas this year (ducks for cover). DH is 60 in December and we have at least a week of non stop commiserations celebrations planned. He will then be gradually winding work down so I'm having to get used to the idea of him always being in the way Wink. It's certainly going to be a new era for us. And he's going to have to get much better at household skills!

orphan · 26/11/2015 07:21

Hope the dentist sorts you out ice and you're feeling better soon. I've just had my half yearly appointment together with dd and ds and we managed to emerge unscathed (last time it cost over £400 all told) and in fact she suggested we only come yearly.

Glad things sound a little better with your friend ilove.

As for reduced section, it's sewn up by professionals in Waitrose. There are those (and they do seem to be middle aged men) who stake it out and wipe it clear of everything within seconds of it being filled. I very rarely get a look in apart from the celebrated day when I got my mitts on some lamb chops...

orphan · 26/11/2015 07:27

Ok dizzy I've gone right off you. Super organised?! I had a mini meltdown last might with dp cos we've done nothing and he seems to think there's plenty of time and what's the fuss??

Dizzydots · 26/11/2015 07:48

Reassured orph it's not usually like this and in future will be super disorganised with DH hovering around, who is definitely not a shopper or fan of xmas - pea in pod with your DH, what's the fuss, just another day type. This year it's all about the big 6 0 early part of Dec before the pesky ones return triumphant from uni, having been oh so busy partying for a term, expecting 'Christmas'!! [santa] #someonesgottodoit

Ilovelblue · 26/11/2015 08:36

Good luck ice. Are you NHS or private?

The mother of a friend of mine once got into a fight in Tesco on a Sunday afternoon. She had picked up some milk reduced to 20p then saw they'd reduced it again to 10p so put her 20p one down but somebody got in ahead of her for the cheaper bottle.... almost fisticuffs!

MaddieMoo82 · 26/11/2015 08:55

Hope it goes ok at the dentist ice and you get it sorted.

My mum works at tesco and she said some of the staff refuse to put the reduced stuff out (especially meat) as shoppers go a bit mental and get really possessive, especially this time of year!

kuiakaituhi · 26/11/2015 09:47

Can someone please tell this ignorant kiwi what pom bears are, please?

Still a bit shell shocked over Jonah. There is a huge memorial service planned for Eden Park on Monday. There will be heaps of VIPs from all over the world. Major concerns about security even on this side of the planet. We had a bomb threat in the Hamilton Gardens today. They are stunning, last year were voted best in the world. So we are pretty vulnerable, too. Scary!!

Have got back to my keyboard though it's pretty slow.Hopefully will have something to post over the weekend.

Was interested in the 'meh' feelings some of you talked about. I get a similar thing every year about the same time, late May, early June as winter really kicks in here. Have heard it called SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder, very common apparently.

KellyHb · 26/11/2015 10:06

Morning all.

Really freezing today dropping kids off so I've put the heating on full whack.

Hope tooth gets sorted ice. Absolutely hate toothache and there's nothing worse than the pain. I've had a horrendous few months with mine.

Talking to one of the Mams at school who's a friend of mine and she says she's done all of her Xmas shopping online. I'm really tempted to do that. I have already got a few things in but don't like shopping at this time of year with all the crowds. Plus DH walks around with a face like a smacked backside as he hates shopping anyway.

KellyHb · 26/11/2015 10:14

kuia Pom Bears are a potato snack (crisps) that my kids absolutely love. I think quite a few adults love them too. Wink

Nickel45 · 26/11/2015 11:04

(whispers) I do kel - I tell myself they must be good for me, as they are kids crisps (so don't anyone please tell me otherwise!).

Morning all :) At work today ... yawn! ... started looking for ideas for Christmas presents, you all inspired me the other day to get my arse in gear (well, my amazon browsing fingers, anyway!!)

Richtea19 · 26/11/2015 12:16

There are hardly any NHS dentists left anymore. ilove my dentist is also on his second wife (pressure of the job?!) and we have to pay for both wives, kids private schooling and his sailing hobby! Fortunatley I'm on Denplan so i pay a monthly fee which covers virtually all my treatments, whic is handy as I have "soft, crumbling teeth" (mouth full of crowns!)

ice I'm hatching a plan with ilove to meet up in Manchester, but DS has set his sights on sale shopping at the Trafford while DH andother DS are the footy. Maybe a drink in our hotel early Eve or coffee on the Sunday morning? Keep you posted.x

Re. Christmas, sort of organised. Massive of online shopping, and have more or less planned in my mind the lists! Made some mince pies this morning (I'm testing a new recipe) but they won't get a chance to be frozen, I've already eaten two with a coffee :)

cjwoofwoof · 26/11/2015 13:51

Been busy with Woof Incorporated - it's bloody annoying having to earn a living occasionally - might gonna look for a Lego-headed sugar daddy in the next life, as long as I don't come back as a mosquito, obvs.

kuia Pom Bears are the greatest invention after Love Hearts - see pic - and are so light you can eat four packets in one go and still have room for cake or is that just me? Also just discovered tubs of Cadburys Amaze Bites which are totally lush - in fact I have been known to eat all 14 in the tub thus depriving youngest DS who I bought them for oh well, what he doesn't know won't hurt him Currently in training for devouring all six Pom Bear bags in the multipack followed by tub of Amaze Bites, but unfortunately haven't quite achieved that record, which I think is currently held by orph if the size of her bum is anything to go by Grin

Ooh yes they are

Our Girl and Captain James Addicts part XXIX
Nickel45 · 26/11/2015 14:10

woof our Sains was doing sample tasting of those Amaze Bites but they went as soon as they opened the tub, I didn't get a chance to try, but am going to have to go get some now! Think I'll be rivalling you for scoffing the whole lot before anyone else knows they were in the house if they make it as far as the house!

pixieg1rl · 26/11/2015 14:15

PomBears are quite boring though, about a third of the way through the packet I wonder why I bothered. DS loves them, but he also likes rice cakes so I don't think much of his tastebuds.

OP posts:
cjwoofwoof · 26/11/2015 14:20

Ah yes I remember beating off the polite posh people in your Sainsburys nick to get to the Amaze Bites before them. Manners go out the window if you want to get in first, plus having a very good barge-through action in my case and it means you can polish off the tub before Camilla says "ooh shall we have a taste or shan't we"? to her friend Rosalind who's just returned from the organic gluten-free made by Aztec Indigenous Tribes coffee aisle. Too late, ladies, that fat bird in the wolf jacket's had the lot hahahaaaaa Grin
