Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

I was just thinking the same thing, I was remembering various story lines to do with Derek and Mavis, their attempts at getting married and so on.

mollie123 · 24/10/2015 08:29

when Alya's father had a completely insane conversation with Jason and Gary out in the street I KNEW he would report it to Alya who would get worried and misunderstand - talk about clunky script.
I get the feeling the SWriters sit in a room and think up the most unlikely scenarios without thinking how they will unfold and who will care if the characters are dull and unlikeable Shock

mellowheart · 24/10/2015 11:01

Derek and Mavis were brilliant together. I never understood why they got rid of him. It didn't make sense, especially when you think of some of the terrible actors in it now.

sorenoggin · 25/10/2015 10:36

I don't know if this is insensitive but the storyline with fizz and hope is so boring...Following hospital appointments is not my idea of evening entertainment. .I keep fast forwarding those scenes

AnneEyhtMeyer · 25/10/2015 11:07

Ah, Derek. Bless him.

The Hope story is awful. I cannot stand it when they try to wring out the emotion in a story. It ruins it. Fizz's gurning, Tyrone's moping, I've had enough already. What are the chances of them running off to another country to get treatment and never returning?

Alya / Jason / Gary - who cares???

The factory storylines and new characters are also fast-forward cues in this house. I can watch Corrie in less than 10 minutes these days.

Has the wet patch in the garage miraculously dried up? I wonder how they can carry on from this in a realistic way. Where are all the various Connors living?

lizzydrippingsghost · 25/10/2015 15:33

you just know that now sarahs gone , kylie is going to keep crying and breaking down saying she cant cope same old story line,
id prefer it if kylie started hearing noises from the garage and thinks its callums ghost. it would be alot more interesting Grin

Rachel0Greep · 25/10/2015 16:48

I know we have said it here before, but it's a total mess having him under the house (in more ways than one)! I'd say the scriptwriters are kicking themselves. They could still have had all the angst, and guilt, had his body been blown up, in the car. I just hate the thought of poor old Gail sleeping in that room, ugh. I hope they get rid before she returns from her long vacation in Milan.

Rachel0Greep · 25/10/2015 16:50

Unfortunately it looks like more of the same next week, Gary, Alya, Tyrone, Fizz, yawn.

southeastdweller · 25/10/2015 19:26

Earlier I looked in the Radio Times and was about to post the same comment. But I'm looking forward to Ken, Mary and Audrey getting new stories next week - Corrie for me is at it's best when the stories are focused on older characters.

FiveShelties · 25/10/2015 19:59

Are Ken and Audrey going to get together?

Rachel0Greep · 25/10/2015 21:28

Agreed southeast, I love when the older/ more established characters are featured. I'm not a fan of Mary, admittedly. I'd like to see Audrey and Ken being friends. I don't like the idea of them getting together, it would be too soon, IMO. Audrey is very funny, she is one of my old favourites.

SymphonyofShadows · 26/10/2015 07:24

It's way too soon for Ken and Audrey but it would fit Ken's elastic morals when it comes to women. I wonder if Nigel Havers will ever come back? Audrey seemed to be the only one his character cared about.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/10/2015 07:44

Widowed men often find another woman very quickly, so I think this is realistic, which isn't something I usually say about Corrie.

Rachel0Greep · 26/10/2015 08:14

I think the reason I'd prefer to see them being friends, rather than in a relationship, just yet, is, because of the fact that Anne / Deirdre is actually dead, so prematurely. I know that probably doesn't make sense. Blush

I think it would be nice to see them having a friendship, and there would be potential for comedy, in it. Audrey possibly having a bit of fun at Ken's expense when he is at his most pompous.
They both are probably a bit lonely. Ken really has nobody to turn to, in his own house, and Audrey will miss Maria, who, of late, was the one she went to the pub with most.

I'm taking this too seriously Grin. Mostly just looking forward to changes of scene from the Platt house, and the grimness above and beneath the floor!

Something that amuses me, when it happens is, the way they randomly have Rita, walking the street, dispensing pieces of wisdom here and there, then we don't see her again for ages.

hildasmuriel · 26/10/2015 09:43

Haha that's so true about Rita. She's like a genie that appears dispensing Fortune Cookie like wisdom only to vanish. Emily has totally vanished, maybe she is trapped in her house with the entire population of Weatherfield's Under 5s dancing find her cackling evilly.

I could see that Ken and Audrey would turn to each other as company, Jen clearly enjoys the company of women (understatement) and Audrey would see Ken as suitably aspirational as the intellectual on the Street. I do not want to see any Kimono action though please.

I think they should literally let the Callum story rest now, not just ignore it with everyone having parties in Gail's granny flat, but see those that know still finding it creepy and difficult but making an effort to appear normal. We know that,at some point, it's going to be discovered but, like Trevor Jordache in Brookie, that could take a while.

The other alternative is that they tell Tony and Jason who help dispose of the body but that would have made more sense if it happened straight away or during wet cement incident.

The police are conducting a very poor investigation as we know texts were sent by David and Kylie so surely they would have questioned more about that.

I can't stand Gary and Aliyah together and the idea that Issy somehow likes her enough to want to watch wedding DVDs and eat popcorn with her just felt ridiculous. Poor Issy put up with loads off Gary only to see him pop off with boring Aliyah.

eddiemairswife · 26/10/2015 09:52

What's happened to Izzie and Gary's child? At one time Gary was often seen pushing the buggy.

hildasmuriel · 26/10/2015 09:57

Jake is trapped with Emily in the Under 5s Lord of the Flies of Weatherfield scenario.

Actually don't let the producers see that as they will think that is an idea for a realistic 'gritty' storyline.

val4 · 26/10/2015 21:08

Is there any way that maybe Callum managed to tunnel out under the house???? (It is an old street after all!)Could he turn up yet???? May link it up with Mary's new interest in the Paranormal??????

SymphonyofShadows · 27/10/2015 07:08

Did they actually check he was still there the next morning? Big stretch though, where could he have been and what was the wet patch?

desperatehousewife21 · 27/10/2015 09:04

This stupid 'interview' with Eva but when Aidan first saw her in the factory not once in the whole conversation did she say she used to work there! So why the interview and all that jazz!?

eddiemairswife · 27/10/2015 09:44

David tried to lift Callum's body out of the manhole the next day, but couldn't manage it.

Rachel0Greep · 27/10/2015 12:48

I find Alya and Gary unbearably dull. And why does Anna turn into a babbling idiot around the Nazir family. She used to be an okay character but is annoying now.

I liked seeing Emily, Rita and Norris in the pub, last night. I doubt that they would be looking disapprovingly at Ken and Audrey, who were perfectly respectably just having a drink together, but it made me smile. I've already held forth about wanting Ken and Audrey to just be friends, but it looks like they are getting together.

There was a lot of time filling stuff with Kev's cars and so on. Why doesn't he take on someone else if he is trying to service a fleet of cars, in a small backstreet garage. Hmm

eddiemairswife · 27/10/2015 14:39

So what will Gary do now that he is a partner at the Gym? Will he suddenly become an expert on weight training or will he deal with the financial side?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 27/10/2015 16:15

Jesus last night's episodes were boring. All that crap with the truck getting towed and then it was fine and the Gary being a partner at the gym?? YAWN

Also, I missed a few weeks, I take it Alya's not pregnant by Jason?
