Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

Billy seems to always be hanging around street corners waiting to pounce on Sarah. And I thought the CofE didn't have confession, so what was all that crap about him not being able to disclose anything she said to him?

The factory storylines are duller than Dullsville in a powercut.

I didn't believe it was possible, but Corrie has gone even further downhill in the last couple of weeks.

Oh God yes, Billy is driving me daft, popping up like the witch in Chorlton and the Wheelies at every turn.

mellowheart · 22/10/2015 18:51

I think a class of 10 year olds could write better scripts than the ones they have now. The script writers should all be forced to watch old episodes of Corrie to see how it was done, when it was unmissable. It's just terrible lately, the acting, the storylines, the way they drag out ridiculous unbelievable plots. I only watch now and again now, I keep hoping it's going to improve but it just gets worse.

southeastdweller · 22/10/2015 20:42

For me Corrie's improved since the live episode last month and since then it's been confirmed to me how much Callum damaged the show. But there's still much room for improvement and I look forward to seeing what the new producer does next year.

theliverpoolone · 22/10/2015 21:32

So is Maria whisking Liam off to Cyprus too? The schools in Weatherfield must have very poor attendance statistics, what with Simon (and Hope?)'s lack of attendance too Wink.

AnguaResurgam · 22/10/2015 22:45

When did anyone last set eyes on Liam? Or Ozzie?

Hope is still under statutory school age, so could be deferred to January. Not that anyone's mentioned that on screen.

No idea how long Peter would have shore leave for.

But there clearly isn't any pressure on Weatherfield school places though. All newcomers get places in Bessie Street or the Comp (now the High) straight away. Mind you, it means that all the longs stayers have been taught by Ken, Stape or Brian (no wonder Sally was so keen to move Rosie to Oakhill).

Rachel0Greep · 23/10/2015 09:02

Hopefully Peter's shore leave lasts a few years, is all I can say.

Rachel0Greep · 23/10/2015 09:15

I think Billy could be a good character but I agree, him hanging around the Platts, all of a sudden, isn't going to make anyone suspicious at all... Wink.
I skipped some the night Sarah was talking to him, yawn, so I'm not sure what she told him.
Anyway, surely he must have other work to do at the church, or somewhere.

Wishful80smontage · 23/10/2015 10:03

The whole callum storyline continues to be a mess how they will draw this to a conclusion I've got no idea- its all a bit grim ATM the body under the floor, blackmail sexting, and fiz's dd yet without any element of drama or suspense which is quite weird. I was half watching again after the live in the hopes it had picked up slightly- I was wrong- will start watching again once new boss takes over, hopefully has a massive cull of cast and scriptwriters and gets the show back on track- as its not even close right now :(

eddiemairswife · 23/10/2015 10:50

Ozzie is quite a large dog to fit in that house with Kirk, Beth, Chesney, Siobhan(sp?), Craig and Darren the rat.

SymphonyofShadows · 23/10/2015 11:10

The dog thing annoys me as they are only ever mentioned when they are needed for a plot device. They never bark when someone knocks either. At least on EE Lady Di is often seen just mooching around or being walked (not that I've watched it for months).

AnguaResurgam · 23/10/2015 12:57

"Ozzie is quite a large dog to fit in that house with Kirk, Beth, Chesney, Siobhan(sp?), Craig and Darren the rat."

Smaller than Schmeikel! Who was a dog which had good enough participation. And Eccles isn't that bad either. ("Eccles, Amy, Daddy, Grandpa")

Is Callum really in the hole? We know he was, but is it possible that Tony/Jason found and moved him? Because weren't they going to excavate the hole and then fill it properly? Surely they wouldn't just concrete over that hole, when they'd been yattering on about need for better strength to avoid collapse. So cement mixer comes in, they open up to fill, they find body. Then do they concrete him down the hole completely? Or get rid of him, then deal with hole?

eddiemairswife · 23/10/2015 13:04

I always found the idea of Schmeikel living in the flat with Chesney and Katie completely unconvincing. They had next to no money coming in, yet managed to feed that huge dog.

millimat · 23/10/2015 17:59

Since when has Michael been best buddies with his not-son? No relation yet they're living together?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/10/2015 20:47

I meant to ask that the other day milli - I thought Michael didn't want anything to do with his fake son. I must have fallen asleep when they made friends again. When did they make things up? And how come he hasn't forgiven Gail at the same time?

I've no interest at all in the wedding story and whether or not Gary find's out about Jason sleeping with Alya, not because it's a predictable story that's been done countless times before but because Alya is so dull. And played by a poor actress. I hope the new producer is tough enough to cut the deadwood.

thenightsky · 23/10/2015 21:57

I love the idea that Jason and Tony have found and moved Callum's body.

Mumsnetters should be writing Corrie.

theliverpoolone · 23/10/2015 21:59

Just read that Peter Baldwin (Derek) has died. Those were the days - Derek and Mavis. RIP Sad

eddiemairswife · 23/10/2015 22:13

What time was this boys' night out? It was daylight when they went out and still daylight when they returned.

HirplesWithHaggis · 23/10/2015 22:36

They met at lunchtime.

Clawdy · 23/10/2015 22:42

Thought the banter between Kirk and Chesney about them being "meat and potatoes" and ending with "Depressing......" was well-done and very funny.

AnguaResurgam · 23/10/2015 23:24

RIP Derek

Completely agree southeast, dull, dull, dull. I didn't bother watching the second episode last night, I couldn't take any more of her. Boring.

Rachel0Greep · 24/10/2015 08:01

RIP Derek. Remember the car he had with the paper clip on the roof. I loved Mavis and Derek, and their trials and tribulations.

AnguaResurgam · 24/10/2015 08:07

With the sad news about Peter Baldwin, I wondered if anyone else remembered this little chap?

Or even owns one?

(I can't imagine any of today's overly-repetitive stories being remembered at all, let alone affectionately, years into the future).
