Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

Completely agree southeast, with your post. Alison King is one of the few that, I think, can act. Not at all surprised she wants out, for a break. I hope she returns, but I would guess not, unless things improve drastically.

ProfYaffle · 19/08/2015 06:20

Oh Lordy, I hadn't seen Agatha's spoiler before. Totally agree with Aguna, the writing atm just isn't up to managing something like that.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/08/2015 20:58

Oooh what bit Beth on the bum?

Could be a cautionary Lymes Disease ?

She'll go back to Wethy, feel meh , flu like.
Everyone will assume she's ptegnant.
Then Kirky will see the black mark on her bum (but she still won't catch on)

eddiemairswife · 19/08/2015 21:58

So, is that yet another character in a coma with anxious relatives and various neighbours coming and going round his hospital bed? I'm not squeamish about TV violence, but there's an unrealistic amount in Corrie.

Rachel0Greep · 19/08/2015 22:07

Yes, poor old Jason Sad.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 20/08/2015 07:32

The thing about the crap plots and unrealistic acting at the moment is that I have no concern over the fate of Jason. Anyone who has any kind of accident or mishap miraculously recovers within a couple of months. There is no "will-they-survive" angst.

I think the writers are closet Doctors fans - last week ex-Doctors nurse Michelle was the nurse treating Simon, this week we have a possible case of Lymes disease, which all Doctors fans know is a favourite illness in Letherbridge.

Jason will probably be running marathons by next week. Sophie seems to have made a full recovery from her big "might never walk again" car accident, it's never mentioned now.

Rachel0Greep · 20/08/2015 13:27

That's true, he probably will. I just didn't like the storyline because Jason is basically a gentle guy, IMO. Plus he was defending Sarah and Bethany, both of whom I dislike, and who should have never associated with that creep Callum. It's so ridiculous him claiming that he wants Max. How will he run his 'empire' Wink with a child in tow.

Glanced through some of the linked spoilers, and agree, Corrie writers are not capable of covering any of those storylines properly.
I wish we could we have less sensationalism, and more focus on proper characters, ones we can actually care about.

hildasmuriel · 20/08/2015 13:30

I agree with that article. I quite enjoyed Paddy McGuiness as it was played as a ceo by a comedian playing not dissimilar role to what he normally does but generally the lack of characterisation and continuity is driving me crazy. The Sinead thing was ridiculous. 'Nah won't bother with my crutches'.

I think they need writers and Execs to consider these issues and respect the heritage of the programme.

Did love Kirk's line about Nicolas Sturgeon though.

Rachel0Greep · 20/08/2015 13:37

I find Alya is so booooooooooooring!

She certainly became very cheery all of a sudden. I thought it might turn out that she was lying about the pregnancy test, but I really would have to give up watching if she was central to a story.

AsTimeGoesBy · 20/08/2015 13:39

Same with Tracey and her long-forgotten kidney transplant and David with his long-forgotten epilepsy. Nick seems completely back to normal as well now.

Pyjamaramadrama · 20/08/2015 13:54

Corrie could have handled the Max and Callum storyline much better, I like little Max, it would have been quite realistic for Max's dad to turn up out of the blue, but they could have shown Callum not turning up for contact and letting Max down, far more realistic. Also how come Callum was in a grotty council flat (when David broke in), now suddenly he has a swanky flat.

Rachel0Greep · 20/08/2015 14:30

Looks like Max won't be too crazy about Callum now anyway, after witnessing him kicking Jason. Hopefully Max witnessing that will help to bring that nonsense storyline to an end.

I loved some of the scenes, over the past while, with Max and David, they are very credible. I would probably like Lily too, if we ever saw her. Grin

elbowsdontsing2 · 20/08/2015 15:13

i was thinking the same about alyas pregnancy, it just seems to be forgotten.
all the guilt she was feeling for sleeping with jason and being pregnant ,getting engaged to gary have just disappeared and now she wants to take on the under crackers factory.

mollie123 · 20/08/2015 15:59

I am left wondering - how much would a backstreet underwear factory go for that Sally and Alya and 'ANother' have the readies to buy it
I need facts, turnover, wage costs, the cost of running the 'fleet' of vans delivering far and wide, the business rates, profit margine per knicker Shock
how is the factory turning over with fuzz, sinead, beth and kirky all on holiday
didn't Carla buy half the Rovers (and who still has the other half) and where does that loan stand ?
questions, questions but they do irritate the heck out of me as it is all so fuzzy in soapland Smile

mollie123 · 20/08/2015 16:00

Blush my emoticoms did not work

AnneEyhtMeyer · 20/08/2015 16:07

I'd forgotten all about the pregnancy. As have the writers it seems.

OP posts:
AsTimeGoesBy · 20/08/2015 16:08

I think wotsername, Kim Tate, will buy the factory.

mollie123 · 20/08/2015 16:28

isn't there another 'Connor' with money in the offing (sorry if that is a spoiler)
I do hope Alya does not buy it - she is a tad irritating and too smug

eddiemairswife · 20/08/2015 17:31

Was the pregnancy test inconclusive?

Rachel0Greep · 20/08/2015 18:13

Yes, there is another Connor, Shayne Ward, I think he is due to arrive shortly. I presume he will save the day Grin.

Rachel0Greep · 20/08/2015 18:15

I do hope Alya does not buy it - she is a tad irritating and too smug

Totally agree.

theliverpoolone · 20/08/2015 18:40

When Sinead pretended the pregnancy test was hers, she said it was negative, but we never seemed to find out if that's what it really said....Confused

With Max's ADHD, you'd have thought an obvious scenario would be Callum not giving him his medication during his weekend access.......but like everyone else's medical conditions his ADHD miraculously disappears for months on end Hmm

elbowsdontsing2 · 20/08/2015 19:01

alya told sinead that she had slept with jason and she was pregnant, after she ran out the bistro when she was suppose to be organising the wedding with gran, grandad and annnnnnnna.

oh and sineads voice is really getting on my nerves lately why do her and fizz whinge. i think i need to switch off for a while
