I avoided him ilove. I'm trying to be diplomatic, you never know when you're going to need emergency backup

Dizzydots · 20/07/2015 09:25

Used to love going to Tatton when I lived up there ilove. Macclesfield is my childhood home. Enjoy the flower show this week.

Alwaysfrank · 20/07/2015 13:03

Hello again - taking a break from packing to check into thread 22! Am off to SW France like Orphan. Normally it's a very long drive in a very cramped car but this year I get to fly with my twins. DH, DS1 and the car leave tomorrow, and we fly Weds. It's the first time twins will have flown, so they are quite excited! It was arranged this way so they could go to the leavers picnic after school, but now they can't as we have a cricket cup final match instead - of course the cricket comes first but it's a bit of a bummer for them that they clash. DD is not coming with us this year, very sad for me she is a good influence on her brothers and a great supermarket shopping companion (we self cater for 3 weeks so supermarket is visited rather a lot!). Still at least she can drive us to the airport!

BTW I was brought up in Wilmslow - and had a holiday job at M&S in Macclesfield, as well as another one in the tea rooms at Quarry Bank Mill. Happy days! Used to be full of footballers then - Ron Atkinson lived round the corner and a City player who you won't have heard of lived right behind us. Those houses wouldn't be mansion like enough for today's super rich players, it was all a bit more down to earth in the 80s!

Dizzydots · 20/07/2015 13:22

We will have met across the til then frank! The NW of England and twins seem to be come subjects on this thread - think at least 5 of us must have twins :) :) kelly, frank, richtea, me that I can think of but sure someone else too?

Dizzydots · 20/07/2015 13:23

*common

KellyHb · 20/07/2015 14:23

Afternoon all.

A really mizzly rainy day today so its a DVD day. At least it gives me a bit of peace and quiet for an hour or so.

Thanks ice. Its still so disappointing to me that LT didn't want to do this. Imagine if the plot had been like rhubarbs Perhaps story, where LT's in Kenya with the army and CJ's there too as an aid worker. They might've had a good few scenes together. Sad

Always hope you have a great holiday. So do you have 4 children altogether? I say children but it sounds like your DD could be nearly grown up. Having a holiday with my 3 would be a nightmare at best for this year and next so maybe in a couple of years, we'll think about going away. Trouble is I would prefer to go abroad but I think kids would probably prefer Butlins.

I only know one other person who has twins and that's my DD godmother but yes its really good how there's a few people on here with some. Although I'm over the NE side in Newcastle.

LolaKent14 · 20/07/2015 14:29

BK is very quiet! Must be keeping CJ busy unloading the car or something....

Dizzydots · 20/07/2015 14:40

I'm down south now kelly but the NW seems to have had quite a lot of mention on here and because I was brought up in the Macclesfield area my ears always prick up when it's mentioned. As for twins, I'm just amazed that there are so many of us on this thread who have them. What are the chances of that I wonder?! Mine only had one other set in their school year but I do have 3 good friends who also have twins (2 of them I only met through post natal groups though). They don't run in my or my DHs family. My twins have been part of the TEDS national project since day1 - anyone else?

KellyHb · 20/07/2015 14:49

Dizzy Twins run in both mine and DH's side. My Dads an identical twin.

I've never heard of the TEDS thing though.

Dizzydots · 20/07/2015 15:14

It's a twins early development study kelly, been running now for 20 years and they have some interesting findings - nature/nurture debate etc. Might be interesting to google. My twins are big now, lovely but miss the early days.

Alwaysfrank · 20/07/2015 16:13

Yes, I have 4 - 18, 15 and 11 x 2!

I do know a lot of people with twins. There are 4 sets in our primary year of 60 children but mine are the only ID set. Admittedly many of the the twins I know through the local twins club so no surprise there! There are no twins in my family, but I think ID are a fluke that can happen to anyone, it is non ID that is an inherited tendency.

The program about twins on the other night was fascinating (ITV Secret life of twins) - worth a look on catch up if you didn't see it.

Alwaysfrank · 20/07/2015 16:14

We aren't involved in the TEDS project - in fact I haven't heard of it before!

BK28 · 20/07/2015 16:17

Girls No Panic!!! CJ has arrived safely back to Wiltshire, was going to let him have an overnight with his mum in Bath, but changed the plan, after a week of supporting me with the DIY thought he might like a rest in my spare room!!(that's what he thought he was going to get!!) Grin

lola was quite right he was safely tucked up on the roof rack - we navigated operation stack safely with no extra hindrances or escape moments (extra strapping was used) and DH was totally oblivious of it all - 23 years of training!!!
so ilove no need to alert any authorities and ice he will be well rested in time for your off on the hols!!

Lola I'm now working on getting prosecco into the morning coffee slot - waiting out until the afternoon is a real drag!!!

Dizzydots · 20/07/2015 16:36

Good news BK, hope you're not behaving yourselves in the spare room. You've got your hands full frank I thought I was busy just with 2, they are not id although much to their amusement people used to ask them wether they were identical - they are boy and girl!! Now they're older and not obviously the same age.

Rhubarb01 · 20/07/2015 17:00

Afternoon. I have non ID twins age 11 as well. I was surprised how many of you have twins too but I think the frequency of twins is increasing. I know other twins from school and I used to be involved with a twins group so I'm always running into people I know. I used to get asked whether they were ID and mine are boy/girl as well! To be honest they don't even appear to be related - genes are a weird thing!

Rhubarb01 · 20/07/2015 17:02

Just thinking I bet there's a keen CJ fan out there somewhere who will have twins and call them Molly and Charles!

Dizzydots · 20/07/2015 17:49

Oh yes Rhu hadn't thought of that! In fact mine could have been Molly and Charles as they were among our shortlist names. Think you're right about frequency increasing - doesn't seem unusual at all any more. So funny about the boy / girl thing, mine used to crack up when asked :) Apologies richtea think I may have got you and rhu muddled earlier unless you have twins too? Didn't see that programme frank will look for it on catchup. DS and DD (DTs) are also chalk and cheese, looks and personality, but have the same eyes. We're now at the stage of them being very useful to each other for uni visits, opp sex friends, nominated driver, bank of twin, etc etc etc.

Rhubarb01 · 20/07/2015 18:29

Dizzy I think the increase in twins has been partly attributed to more mature mums (older mums are more likely to have non ID twins - I reckon it's nature saying "come on catch up with everyone else you'd better have two") and also more IVF where the chance of twins is far higher. Perhaps twins mothers have a greater need to congregate in a social sense. I know that when mine were tiny and I already had an older one I used to be at the end of my tether some days. Everything just seemed so difficult because I compared it all the time to having only had one the first time around. Some of the mums at the Twins Club went on to have another child afterwards and most of them said they just wanted to know what it was like to only have one baby and reported that it seemed so easy in comparison.

The truth of course is whether they're singletons or twins having small kids is hard work!

Dizzydots · 20/07/2015 19:24

That's exactly what I have always put our twins down to rhu, being an older mum and my body making up for lost time. I also then had a yearning to discover what it would be like to just have one baby but sadly that never happened for me. I do know one lady who has two sets of twins and I used to think that if that happened instead it would be very neat: can you imagine!! As you say it's clearly hard work whatever the combination.

Seems though there maybe a correlation between double the hormones and double the lusting after a certain luscious captain. Twins mums, greater needs ...Grin

Nickel45 · 20/07/2015 20:16

Finally back in the land of the awake! Had a good weekend, but definitely needed a bath and lots of sleep!

woof, pixie and wjajeb (I know, I'm a bit behind) brilliant ff updates. woof you never fail to make me laugh. whaj lotties part in all this is inspired, and love how romantic CJ is (sex or wine, brilliant!!!) Wink. pix Fingers and Zoe, loved it! I think I missed a chapter too, fantastic proposal, spot on. Such a brilliant story!

Another busy week this week, then the holiday club the week after and then collapse in a heap .... Not long! :)

frank have a good holiday :o

Richtea19 · 20/07/2015 20:32

dizzy I don't have twins, but my sister has twin 22yr old Boys and my cousin has twin 25 yr old girls! Fortunately I escaped!!!

Loads of FF to catch up, I'm tempted to wait and download on my kindle for my non wifi holiday in a couple of weeks, but I'm not sure I can wait!!

I'm excited about my holiday but not sure about the non wifi!!! CNt remember whether I posted yesterday as my head was all over the place, but I was checking out passports and my eldest DS has run out. My fault apparently (according to DH) so an emergency apt at the passport offices in London on Saturday.

I've just seen an advert for a new program on BB2 Life inSquares about the Bloomsbury group? It's got the hunky Grantchester man in it. Goodie :)

moojangles · 20/07/2015 20:35

Reading the previews for it rich, a fair bit of QS possibly

Richtea19 · 20/07/2015 20:40

moog my QS radar picked that up in the short clip!! Yippee!

Nickel45 · 20/07/2015 20:51

Sounds like it's worth a watch! When's it on?

pixieg1rl · 20/07/2015 20:52

I see the Daily Mail has taken great delight in announcing that there are 6 sex scenes in the first episode.

I'll be setting the digi box then Wink
